Ivara's POV

“You don’t want to go with me? That’s strange. You used to want to try things with me, so what changed?” Eryndor’s voice lowered dangerously as he advanced toward me.

I immediately stepped back. “Why do you still insist even after I said no? It doesn't sound right.”

My back met the cold glass wall. “Don’t come any closer. Xlynor will be coming back soon,” I warned.

My pulse spiked as Eryndor closed the remaining distance between us, then lifted my chin with his fingers.

Xlynor’s POVI couldn’t sit any longer. Sulking over Ivara’s stupid decisions like some heartbroken fool wasn’t going to bring her back. She was impulsive, stubborn, and still very much a child in so many ways and I couldn’t blame her.I just needed to get her back before Eryndor did something irreversibly stupid and the fact that I had taunted him earlier without being cautious enough left a bitter taste in my mouth.I ran my fingers through my hair, rubbing my face hard as I tried to keep calm.I turned toward the glass windows overlooking the maze, my jaw tightening. How exactly was I supposed to find one reckless human girl with this many people present? I wasn’t even sure how long she’d been gone. There were too many people, too many scents, too many supernatural energies colliding together. And worse, I couldn’t even track her scent, which made no sense. She had been here and even though she had left, traces of her scent would still linger, and I could always smell her miles awa

Xlynor’s POVThe deeper we walked into the dungeon corridors, the colder the air became.Zane led the way, our footsteps echoing against the damp stone as we made our way forward. Zane wore a grim expression while I stared blankly ahead.“Alpha.” The guards stationed along the paths bowed their heads respectfully as we passed, murmuring greetings.I only gave slight nods before continuing forward. We finally stopped in front of one of the reinforced cells. Zane stepped forward and pressed his hand against the scanner, then punched in some keys before stepping back.A click echoed through the hall as the first lock disengaged. Then another mechanism activated beneath the floor, before the heavy door hissed open. The second we stepped inside, I knew she wasn’t who I was looking for.My gaze settled on the woman kneeling in the center of the cell, her head bowed, silver hair cascading over her face like a curtain. Her wrists were chained behind her back with silver manacles. She looked fr

Ivara's POV“Stop it, Ivara. Stop. You’ll kill him, and I know that’s not your intention.” Elodie grabbed me from behind and dragged me away.I dropped the stool, breathing hard. I didn’t even realize I was crying until I felt the tears.Eryndor lay unmoving on the floor, bleeding from the side of his head, and for one terrifying second, I thought I had actually killed him.How could the man I once trusted—the one I foolishly saw as a brother—turn into a monster right before my eyes? The betrayal cut deeper than I expected.A broken sound escaped my throat as tears blurred my vision. It was then that it dawned on me. Nobody was to be trusted in Dark Hound. Not even yourself.“Elodie…” I whispered shakily, and she immediately pulled me into her arms despite her own injuries. Her split lip was still bleeding, and she had a bruised jaw and a cut on her cheek.“We don’t have much time,” she whispered while rubbing my hair. “We need to leave now.”I sniffled. “The hunt already started, ther

Xlynor will be coming back soon,” I warned. My pulse spiked as Eryndor closed the remaining distance between us, then lifted my chin with his fingers. The touch made my skin crawl, and I had no idea when I hit him across the face. “Stay away from me,” I hissed. “I mean it. Leave!”Shock flashed across his face, then it was quickly replaced by cold fury. Before I could move far, he sped forward in a blur, grabbed a fistful of my hair, and yanked my head back.“How dare you? Did you forget who you’re talking to?” he snarled. “Did you dare mistake my friendliness for stupidity? How dare you hit me?” he asked through gritted teeth. My eyes watered from the pa

Ivara's POVI thrashed wildly, twisting and struggling against the grip holding me from behind and trying to alert anyone. When that didn’t work, I sank my teeth hard into the palm over my lips.A sharp hiss sounded behind me, followed by a muffled curse as the hand jerked away.Just as I drew in a breath to scream, thick black smoke swallowed us whole, the world spun violently before the fog cleared.Even then, I couldn’t move. My heart hammered against my chest. “Xly… Xlynor?”The second he released me, I spun around so quickly I nearly lost my balance.Xlynor stood there, wincing as he flexed his bitten palm. “Are you an animal? Why the hell would you bite me?”Tears stung the corners of my eyes at that realization. I had genuinely thought I was being kidnapped, and my fear had blinded me so completely that I hadn’t even recognized Xlynor's scent or presence.“Why would you just approach me like that?” I snapped, my voice trembling. “How was I supposed to know it was you?”“You wer

Ivara's POVI couldn’t take it anymore. The strange aura of the men was choking, and it made my stomach twist painfully. I stood up, so abruptly my chair scraped harshly against the floor.“We need some air, Zane.” I muttered, trying to slip away through the only free path on Zane’s side. But the moment I stood and walked towards it, another tall man started walking straight toward me, his eyes locked on me with unsettling intensity.I stepped back, fear spiking inside me. The way they were all staring at me… it wasn’t admiration. It felt like I was prey.Zane must have sensed the tension, because he was on his feet in an instant. He gently pushed me behind him and stepped forward, blocking the man who had cornered me.“You’ve got a problem?” Zane growled. The stranger smiled, raising both arms. “Just wanted to take the seat next to you.”He was lying. I could feel it in my bones. These people had come here deliberately.I pinched Zane’s side lightly, signaling him to leave. At that e

Xlynor's POVEryndor turned at the sound of my laughter, his face twisted.“You sent her to the woods because you thought I was going to get her back when I heard it? Silly you. Ivara's POVI spun around, then fell to the floor in shock. Why did that sound a lot like Xlynor? Like he was behind me. And it sounded way too real. Was I beginning to get delusional? He wasn’t here, was he?The lights came on and my breath hitched. How did that happen? Did I mistakenly trigger som

Ivara's POVI couldn't explain how things escalated so fast.
