Chapter 1

Michael's POV

"Rupert just got back from vacation. Rachel waited forever for that kiss, and yet Michael shamelessly touched her with his hand. He deserves to be taught a lesson."

Rachel let out a disdainful laugh.

"A lesson? Please. No one's touched Michael in five years. He's probably dying for some rich woman to buy his first night. You have no idea how desperate he is. It's like he can't live without women!"

The room instantly erupted with mocking laughter loud enough to shake the ceiling.

"Rupert is allergic to Michael's scent. Just smelling him makes him nauseous. That's why Rachel disinfects herself every time she comes into contact with Michael. Michael probably really thinks there's something dirty about him by now. Hahaha!"

"This auction's perfect. It finally gives him a chance to be a real man. No more being a virgin. He'll probably be thrilled!"

Amid the endless ridicule, my face suddenly turned cold. It felt as though a giant hand had seized my heart, squeezing until my vision darkened in waves.

Every time Rachel touched me, she recoiled as if she'd encountered something horrifying.

For a long time, I genuinely believed I carried some kind of bacteria. Every night, I soaked myself in disinfectant baths.

Over time, every inch of my skin became severely damaged. Even the slightest breeze would trigger irritation, leaving angry red rashes across my body.

Rachel even had the master bedroom's king-sized bed replaced with two separate beds, terrified that she might somehow catch my "germs."

After countless emotional confrontations, she finally threw a medical report at me.

"I have severe mysophobia. Don't touch a single hair on my body ever again."

So all of this—everything—had only been because of Rupert. Because of his casual remarks: "disgusting," "allergic."

Such a ridiculous reason.

Our families had been close for generations, and we were engaged as children.

As we grew older, the engagement gradually faded from everyone's attention. Both families believed we should be free to fall in love on our own.

But Rachel's grandmother, Grandma Marilyn, had been in poor health for years and held very traditional beliefs. She insisted we marry as promised.

Even though she knew Rachel loved Rupert, and that I was dating someone else at the time, she stubbornly pushed the marriage forward. Neither of us had any way to refuse.

While I hesitated, Grandma Marilyn left me one final way out.

"I truly hope the two of you can stay together until the end. But if, one day, Rachel betrays you, I'll personally bring the signed divorce agreement to you and grant you freedom."

And yet, on our wedding night, Rachel locked me outside the bedroom.

At the time, I thought she simply needed time to accept me, so I gave her all the patience I could. I tolerated her so-called "germophobia."

But that wait lasted five full years.

I endured five years of a sexless marriage, humbling myself for her in every possible way, only to learn the truth in the cruelest way imaginable…

I dialed Grandma Marilyn's number and spoke numbly into the phone.

"In two days, at the downtown auction, there'll be enough proof that Rachel betrayed me. Please let me go, Grandma Marilyn."

I returned home very late that night.

For once, Rachel didn't greet me with cold indifference.

Instead, there was an unusual trace of desire in her eyes.

Yet, the one who was supposed to be back in the country for her wedding—Rachel—suddenly appeared in front of Paige and me.The moment she saw us together, she clearly froze before rushing forward to question me."Is she your ex-girlfriend?"I pulled Paige's arm slightly toward me and gave her no polite response."That's none of your business."But Rachel stepped in immediately, blocking the path with a disbelieving look."How is it not my business? Don't tell me you're living with her now?"Seeing Rachel's hostile attitude, Paige stepped directly in front of me."This is between Michael and me. Please respect his choice."Rachel suddenly slapped her. Paige was knocked to the ground."What are you doing!" I immediately rushed to Paige's side. "Are you okay?"Paige shook her head and slowly stood up.At the sight of this, Rachel's eyes turned red."You only care about her now? Don't forget—I'm your wife!"In my understanding, a wife would never betray her husband. But she h

It seemed Grandma Marilyn had already told Rachel about Paige. But whatever feelings I had for Paige no longer had anything to do with Rachel.I let out a cold laugh."Do you dare say nothing was going on between you and Rupert? I'll be honest with you—I heard everything. The two of you together. That day, you locked me up in the room, butt-naked, exposed for everyone to see. I heard it all."At my words, Rachel staggered back in disbelief, panic flashing across her face."So… you knew everything all along?"I met her eyes and nodded. And yet, strangely enough, I was glad I had heard it. Otherwise, I would have remained in the dark my entire life, letting my wife secretly do such disgusting, filthy things behind my back. That would have been the real nightmare.Seeing my reaction, Rachel's lips pressed together as all her arrogance finally drained away."It was just a moment of confusion with him. Don't overthink it, okay?"So that was her excuse. The classic line of someone

I boarded the plane in a daze, and when I opened my eyes again, I was already lying in an apartment."Michael, you're finally awake."The first thing that came into view was Paige's familiar face.In just a second, all the strength I had been forcing myself to hold onto collapsed. I broke down and clung to her, sobbing uncontrollably.Rachel and the others had stripped me naked and locked me inside that crystal display case, subjecting my body and mind to humiliating torment. I never wanted to go back there again."It's okay… it's okay. I'm here," Paige comforted me, holding me tightly in her arms—warmth I had not felt in five years.Rachel always said I had "ulterior motives" toward her. But in truth, sometimes all I wanted was a single, steady embrace filled with strength. But it was fine now. Everything was over. That suffocating life would never happen again.Leaning against the headboard, I told Paige everything. Everything about how I had been forced to separate from her

A sharp slap landed immediately after—cracking across Rupert's face.Rupert clutched his cheek in disbelief, staring at Rachel."What's wrong with you? You used to be so desperate for me. Just because that filthy piece of shit left, you're hitting me now?"Rachel showed no sympathy for his pitiful expression. Instead, a warning flashed in her eyes."Don't you ever call him that again. Michael is still my husband."Rupert's eyes filled with defiance at her sudden change. He let out a cold laugh."Your grandmother said your marriage to him is over. He's no longer your husband. He's probably already gone off and made vows with another woman."The next second, she slapped him again. This time, blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, and his hair fell into disarray."I didn't agree to a divorce. So it doesn't count."With that, she pulled out her phone and dialed Michael's number."The number you dialed cannot be reached at the moment…"She tried again and again, but the resul

With that, Grandma Marilyn let out a cold snort and, leaning on her personal caretaker, left the venue without another word. The news landed like a bomb.Rupert could barely contain himself—he almost screamed out in excitement."Rachel! Your grandmother actually agreed for you to marry me! Isn't this exactly what we wanted? We don't have to sneak around anymore!"His friends immediately chimed in with congratulations, raising their glasses toward her."Things worked out in the end, Rachel. Didn't you always find Michael disgusting? Now it's perfect—your grandmother's backing you, and you finally get to marry Rupert.""Congratulations, Rachel!""Michael used to cling to you like a ghost, like some shameless man who just wouldn't leave you alone. Now, he's finally out of the picture. Honestly, this turned out better than expected.""Yeah, in a weird way, this mess worked in your favor!"Laughter and flattery filled the air. Glasses clinked one after another.Rupert casually toy

"G-Grandma? Why are you here?"Clutching her cheek, Rachel shot to her feet in panic, like a mouse spotting a cat.Grandma Marilyn trembled with rage and let out a cold snort."If I hadn't come, I never would've known you were auctioning off your husband's virginity. You've really outdone yourself!"Rachel instantly lowered her head, fumbling awkwardly for excuses."We were just joking around. I just thought Michael had been feeling depressed lately, so I brought him out to have some fun."Then she complained softly, "And Grandma, what was that thing you slapped me with? That really hurt."Rachel bent down to pick up the document from the floor. The moment she saw the words printed on it, the playful smile on her face vanished completely. Her heart skipped a beat as she stared at the divorce papers."T-This… what does this mean, Grandma? Michael and I are legally married. What is the meaning of these divorce papers?"Grandma Marilyn sighed heavily, disappointment etched deep i
