As I stepped into the bathroom, the sweet smell of Jasmine filled the air. The warm light of the candles illuminated the room making my skin feel at peace. The tender hand of my right handmaid, Elena gently loses the lace of my corset and I watched as the dress fell on the floor revealing my body to the maids. I climbed into the tub and let the warm water calm my body. I had a long day, today was I and Elijah's sixth wedding anniversary and I had to plan the party. “My lady, what do you plan on doing tonight?” Elena, my best friend asked as she poured warm rose and milk water on my hair. After the death of my mother, I had to move in with my Father and step family and that was how I met Elena, she was a maid there and we became friends. “Did they arrange Elijah's room yet?” I asked in sign language. I was able to hear but I couldn't speak, I was mute, people of the pack called me dumb and never respected me because of it. Everyone of my personal maids and guards had to learn sign language to communicate with me but my husband Elijah didn't bother, he just has people interpret it for him. “No, we weren't able to arrange the room, Alpha Elijah was busy in his room,” Elena explained, I forced a smile on my face and nodded my head in understanding. He was always busy in his room, I knew he was busy with his mistress and it hurt so much. Ever since I got married to Elijah, we haven't consummated our marriage and we have never shared a room. Time was running out and I needed to keep my place as the Luna of this pack, I had a little respect because of him and I didn't want to return to my family so I needed to consummate our marriage tonight and carry an heir. “Aurora!! Aurora!!” Elijah yelled as he stepped into the bathroom, “Leave this minute!!” he yelled at everyone. My eyes fell on his body and he was wearing a trouser and a blue robe that wasn't buttoned. “Where do you think you are going?” He asked Elena as she was about to leave, “Who is going to interpret what this dummy is saying?” I felt a painful feeling in my chest when I heard him say dummy, his insult isn't new but I kept feeling pain everytime he said something. “Come out, I'm talking to you and cover up,” Elijah looked at me with disgust as those words left his mouth. I immediately felt self conscious of my body, Elena passed me a cloth, I came out of the tub and used it to wrap around my wet and soapy body. “Why did you enter my room? You know I hate those flowers, why did you tell them to arrange my room?” Elijah's face reddened with anger, “You always do that nonsense every year.” “You must be angry? I'm sorry, I was just arranging your room so we could spend the night together,” I explained feeling guilty and Elena interpreted for him. The guilt went through the window as I saw Elijah burst into laughter, “You think I would spend the night with you in my room?” Those words hurt like paper cutting through the flesh but I kept my feeling outside, “You are such an annoying fool, just get ready for the event.” “I'm tired, let's not argue, just get ready for the event,” Elena interpreted what I didn't say and I stared in disbelief. She has always done that ever since we were kids. Elena had learnt sign language because of me, I wasn't always mute but circumstances made me this way and ever since she learnt sign language, she always interpreted what she wanted to the people who didn't understand it. “Let me warn you,” Elijah took threatening step to me and pointed his finger at my face, “Don't you ever step foot into my room again else you will face my wrath, you keep forgetting you were sold to me,” Elijah hissed, his shoulder bumped into me and I lose my balance a bit as he walked out of the bathroom. “My lady, are you okay?” Elena rushed and held me. Elijah was always this way, he was constantly reminding me that my stepmother had sold me to him in exchange for power for both packs. “Luna,” One of the maids entered the bathroom as I entered the tub. “How dare you come in here? Can you see that Luna isn't in the mood?” Elena yelled. She wasn't just my friend but was my voice in some situations. “Luna, I'm sorry, I just wanted to inform you that your sister Indigo is around and has sent you a dress for your wedding anniversary party. A huge smile made its way to my face as Indigo's name was mentioned. Despite being ill treated at my Father's house and by the pack. Indigo was the only one who treated me right, she didn't allow me to feel the absence of a mother. “Where is she?” I asked and Elena interpreted. “She is somewhere around the house, my lady I will drop the clothes in your room,” The maid said, I nodded my head and with my permission, she left to my room. “Hurry, I must go see Indigo, this is the first time in a long time she is coming to my house,” I said out of excitement. My heart was so happy to see her. “Sure, my lady,” Elena laughed lightly. She called the other maid inside the room to pamper my body and my hair. When I came out of the bathtub, I didn't wait for them to dry my body, I wrapped the cloth around my body and ran to the room. I desperately wanted to put on the dress Indigo had sent to me and go see her. “My lady, your family and relatives have arrived,” One of the guards announced. The guests were already coming. I should hurry up to the ballroom so I could welcome them. I dressed up in the blue and white dress Indigo had gotten for me, they adorned me with jewelry and the maids did my makeup so I would look the finest in the room. “Alpha Elijah wouldn't dare take his eyes off you tonight,” one of the maids said and it made me blush. “Thank you,” I smiled at her, “Let's go check for Indigo,” I said to Elena through the mirror. “Y'all can retire to your different duties!!!” Elena announced and we left my room. I didn't want anyone to look for her, I wanted to give her a surprise. After checking everywhere including the ballroom, my room and all the places she could have gone, I didn't see her. I wondered where she could have gone, “My lady, let's just go and welcome the guest, we will see her at the party,” Elena said and I nodded my head in disappointment. I knew I was going to see her so I would just wait until I do. I was going downstairs when I heard a noise coming from Alpha Elijah's room. I had a feeling he was with another woman but today of all days. Did he really hate me that much? I was hurt but I had to pretend like I didn't know for my marriage to be kept. Alpha Elijah's room door was slightly opened so I had asked Elena to close the door but she stood Frozen, her mouth hanging open as her eyes widened. I touched her shoulder and she hurriedly shut the door. That was suspicious and her reaction was like she had seen a ghost. “My lady we should go greet the guest,” Sweat foam on Elena's forehead and I could tell the smile on her face was forced. “Move away from the door,” I expressed myself with a straight face so she could understand I wasn't in the mood for play. Elena shut her eyes tight and gave me a way to see for myself. I opened the door and the sight before me almost made me throw up, I felt weak in the knees as my head could only voice her name, “Indigo?” NOTE: The Luna Aurora didn't speak, she is mute so she uses sign language to communicate with people. She can hear and understand what everyone is saying, she can also read their lips but she can't utter a single word.Aurora's POV The light stopped flickering as the person stood under the light. It was a woman who was dressed in black from head to toe, she was barefooted with a lot of anklets on her ankle. She wore a lot of jewelry, she looked like she was in her late 60s or early 70s, and she had a big black mole by the side of her nose. She had a big black bag in her right arm and she held the bell in her left hand.“Who let her in?!!!” Mother yelled, “Who let this insane woman in?!!”“They will all die, y'all will die!!!” She yelled, “She will kill all of you!!!”The woman walked closer and stopped in front of me. Tristan held my hand and stood in front of me shielding me from the woman.“You have made the biggest mistake of your life; you have failed to protect what should be protected, and if you don't change it, you will lose her, and she will die!!! She will die!!!” The woman yelled in Tristan's face.“A Mother shielded her children, but one child has made the other child her enemy, and she
Aurora's POV I turned to look at her. I couldn't believe we just met after a long time, and this is what she had to say, “What?” I was too stunned to speak, but come to think of it, what was she plotting?I wanted to believe it was a harmless joke, but Indigo isn't one to joke, especially since she hates me.“Bye,” Indigo winked at me, but before I could say anything to her, she walked away.I wanted to ignore the nonsense she said, but for some reason, I couldn't. Indigo was capable of a lot of things; it was hard, but I managed to ignore the negative words.“What is the matter, my Lady?” Elena said when I entered my room and I furrowed my eyebrows, “You are sulking.”“Ahh,” I sighed, there was no need to raise concern, “It's nothing.”“My Lady, Queen Diana has asked you to read the letter that there was something important she found out and you need to know about it,” Elena delivered Diana's message.“Oh, okay, I will read it,” I opened the drawer I had placed it in and brought it
Aurora's POV TWO YEARS LATER, “Did you send all the invitations out? Everything?” I questioned Elena as I stood in front of the mirror and watched the modiste do the fitting for my dress.I was sending out my four wedding anniversary invitation cards. I wanted to hold a party to celebrate it.“Yes, I already did,” Elena answered, “Queen Diana sent you a letter,” I took the letter from Elena's hand with a smile on her face. Tristan didn't declare Diana missing the way she wanted to; her position as the second Queen still remained the same; Tristan had informed everyone that Diana was going on a long trip.I looked at the letter with so much love, Diana always writes to me every month and I do the same, “You look beautiful in color,” I lifted my gaze when the modiste complimented, “I'm happy we get to see you were colored after two years.”“Thank you,” I smiled. Things have gotten better in the past year; in the first year, I almost lost my mind; I tried to end my life so many times
Aurora's POVSeeing Tristan cry and look miserable like this really broke me. I was scared of so many things, but right now, I was scared of what would happen to Ava.I didn't mean to push her off the stairs; I didn't even mean to speak to her that way; I was just annoyed that she was willing to offer her child for me to take care of when she didn't understand what I was feeling.Seeing everything that has happened has given me the strength to stand again; I might not be fully happy, but I want to try to smile for my daughter, my Father, my Mother, and my brother in heaven, and I also want to smile for the people on earth.I relaxed in Tristan's arms as I poured my heart out in this cold. I didn't hear him make any noise but I felt his tears on my head. “Tristan I….”“Lycan,” I paused when I heard Travis's voice and Tristan stood up to his feet.“Why are you…..” Tristan paused, and for some reason, I felt anxious, “What happened?”“Lady Indigo has woken,” I smiled but still felt weir
Tristan's POV Hearing those words leave Diana's lips sounded like a betrayal to me; I paused and turned to her angrily, “What did you just say?”“It's almost seven months now, and there is no improvement; let your Mother clean up the room. Maybe then Aurora would understand the reality,” Diana said.“How can you say that, you know that's how Aurora is coping,” I was trying my best not to yell at her.“Don't you think she has mourned enough?” My lips felt sealed as a part of me understood what she was saying and a bigger part of me felt she was spewing nonsense.I jerked my hand off her hand, “You cannot tell a Mother when to stop mourning the loss of her child.”“I know that very well but what if that's the only way to bring her out of this depression?” I glanced at Diana, opened the door, and left the office.I didn't walk; I ran to the nursery; when I got to the entrance of the north Wing, my legs refused to move further as I saw Mother and some guards throwing the things out of th
Tristan's POV I stood carefully behind Aurora trying my best not to make a sound as she hummed softly while trimming flowers in the garden. I was cold; I wondered if she wasn't cold as the snow had been falling heavily for some days now. These few months have been the hardest; Aurora wasn't eating; all she takes is tea; she walks around the garden looking distant and singing some children's songs. My wife has lost a lot of weight which makes me scared for her health. I'm not bothered that she still wears mourning dresses or dresses like a widow, I'm only bothered about her health.“Look after her,” I said to Elena, “I have some work to finish off.”I didn't want to leave Aurora, but I couldn't leave my duties like that, and some councilors were waiting for me in my office. Sometimes, Travis did help me with some work, and the councils covered up some work for me, especially the right state council. do “Thanks for coming all the way here,” I sat down when I entered my office, “So to
Aurora’s POV Mother’s nature of emotional blackmail was still the same; she has always done it, and right now,w, she is still doing it.I was irritated, I wanted to show her that I was better than her at emotional manipulation, “Even better,” I emptied the gallon on my body, “Let us all go to hell.”“Tristan!!!” Mother yelled when she saw I was playing the same game with her.“How can I stop a grieving mother? I should have punished Ava but I felt it would be better if Aurora punished her because she was closer to our child than I was, so how can I stop her?” Tristan supported me, “If I was killed would you sit and watch? Wouldn’t you kill the person too?”“The situation is different, you are a full human, and her child was only a fetus,” Mother whined, “That child wasn’t even formed yet; it was just blood!!”I couldn’t believe what mother had just said, “A fetus? Just blood?” I lit another match out of anger.“Are you going to watch her light us?” Ava yelled and I walked closer to h
Aurora’s POV “They killed your child!!” Diana said when she pulled me inside the nursery and shut the door behind her, “Are you going to keep pretending that nothing happened?”“Stop,” I shook my head as I pleaded.“I can’t stop, if I stop today then I have failed Skylar,” I placed my hands over my ears, “Do you think Skylar would be happy to see you in such a situation?”“Please stop, you are hurting me,” I pleaded with tears streaming down my face.Diana held my hand, she dragged me to the front of the cradle my baby was supposed to be in, “Look at that,” she forced me to look at the cradle but I refused, “Do you see a child there? No, there isn’t, do you know why? Because your child is dead!!! You child isn’t in the world of the living!!!”“No!!!” I covered my ears and screamed, “Please, don’t.”Diana pushed the cradle, she began to scatter the room and I ran after her trying to stop her from doing, “Not my baby’s room please, please.”Diana gripped my hand, “I won’t ask you to be
Tristan’s POV It’s been days and I haven’t done anything. It’s not like I don’t want to do anything, it’s just that I don’t know what to do. Everything was on my neck; it was almost like before when I had Skylar in one hand and Mother in the other. I haven’t gotten the courage to see Aurora, she has been in her room, she wasn’t talking to anyone, she didn’t even want to see anything. I lifted my head from the table when I felt someone tap me on my back, “I have been calling you for ages.” “I’m sorry Diana, I didn’t hear you,” I apologized. I thought by now I would have exposed Diana and kicked her out of this palace but she was here helping me instead. “I know,” Diana sat opposite me, “I wanted to talk to you about Aurora.” “What about her?” I hurriedly asked, “Is she okay? What’s wrong with her?” Diana placed her hand on my hand and I calmed down, “It’s nothing much,” I let out a breath of relief, “I don’t like the fact that everyone is agreeing with her that her child is
