Chapter 1- Rejection

Camilla’s POV

I was woken from my sleep by a blood-curdling scream that echoed through my room. Panic gripped me as I unconsciously clutched my pregnant belly. I was four months gone, and werewolf pregnancy was only for six months.

I was filled with fear; a scream could only mean one thing the pack was being attacked. Hastily, I scanned the room looking for any threat. When I found none, I carefully got off my bed, fumbled with my slippers, and hastily slipped them onto my feet.

Rushing out of the room in nothing but my pajamas, my legs shook as I descended the stairs. The halls were empty, and I could only begin to fear for my life. As soon as the pack living room came into view, I could see most of the pack members in the room. They looked sad, and the air in the living room seemed to be thick and suffocating.

I spotted a girl named Julia, her features twisted in disdain as she met my gaze. It wasn’t only her; most of the pack members looked at me with a mixture of accusation and hate.

“You…….you killed him, didn’t you?” Enzo spat as soon as his eyes fell on me, his words laced with venom as he glared at me.

I struggled to comprehend his words as I saw all eyes fall on me. What was he talking about? Who did I kill?

“What are you talking about?” I managed to utter in a small voice. Enzo was my mate, and the one responsible for my pregnancy. We had been mated for more than a year by the will of the Alpha, who appeared to be Enzo's father.

I knew our mate bond had been filled with disdain and hate, as Enzo felt I was tying him down and forcing the mate bond on him. The truth was that I loved Enzo and I had always wished he would love me back someday, but each day we were apart, the more he wanted nothing to do with me.

I watched as he glared at me, and I could feel silence settle in the room. This wasn’t the first time he had reacted this way in front of the pack. I was used to him calling me out and humiliating me every time, and I wondered what it would be this time.

My attention was taken as Ravana stepped forward, her glare even worse. “Don’t pretend you have no idea. The last meal he took came from your hands, which was prepared by you,” she hissed, her accusation causing the room to be filled with murmurs and whispers.

“What? Killed who…what are you talking about?” I asked as I looked around the room, fear gripping me. And then it came crashing in, the meal. My eyes widened as I remembered what she was talking about. Yesterday, I had taken a meal from a servant who was to deliver the Alpha’s dinner to him in his office. She had claimed that the Alpha had personally asked me to deliver the meal, and I had taken it from her without question.

“No…no… I am being framed,” I let out in a pounding voice as I stared at my mate, who glared at me in disgust and hatred. I turned to look at Ravana, and I could see a smirk on her face. I knew she was behind this. Ravana had always tried to sabotage my relationship with Enzo since day one.

She was Enzo's best friend, and it wasn't a secret that she had a crush on him for many years, and he had been sleeping with her for months. This had to be Ravana’s plan to set me up for murder and make Enzo abandon me. I would never hurt Alpha Marcel; he was more of a father to me than anyone else, and he had always looked out for me and protected me at all costs. Over the past few months, he had always shielded me from all the accusations that were always thrown at me, and with him gone, I could only be ready for the worst.

“You bitch, you think I'm a fool, don’t you...you poisoned my father to get back at me, didn’t you?” Enzo said as he started to make his way over to me. I shook my head, and as soon as he was within my reach, I got on my knees before him. Only he can wipe away this accusation. With his father gone, he was now officially an Alpha.

“Please, Enzo…believe me. I would never do that; you know I wouldn’t. The meal was given to me by…” I said as I trailed off after I was interrupted by Ravana.

“Lies…all lies. The kitchen staff has confirmed that you cooked the meal and you delivered it personally to the Alpha in his office,” Ravana spat out as she looked down at me. I could see happiness in her eyes. I knew she did this, but it was my words against hers. Ravana was the queen bee of the pack. Everyone had expected her to be Enzo's chosen mate, but Alpha Marcel chose me, a mere orphan with nothing, to be his son’s mate, and I had immediately jumped on the opportunity because he had been my crush for years.

Enzo looked down at me as he bent to look me directly in the eyes.

“I, Alpha Enzo Romano Marcel, reject you, Camilla, as my mate,” he spat out in rage, at that moment, I could feel the mate bond break, and the pain was consuming as I let out a scream. It felt like my wolf was on fire, and my body was on fire as I screamed from the pain of rejection, the worst pain a Wolf could ever face.

“You are being demoted to a slave and will take on every responsibility assigned to you, no matter your standing,” Enzo spat out as he looked down at my belly. He was indeed heartless and ruthless in his judgment. I looked up at him, pleading with him to have mercy, but I couldn’t see anything but rage in his eyes. I was so exhausted and weak from the pain.

“Splash.” I could feel my water break at that point, and I looked down on my knees, and I could feel my contractions.

“Ahhh, stop… my baby is coming,” I let out a scream at Enzo, withdrawing figures, and everything turned black. The last thing I felt was my head hitting the floor.
