Chapter 3

Alpha Simpson summoned us into his office. He was the pack's Alpha.

While we made our way out of the hall, I beheld the carriage that was sent by the king. It was supposed to take the bride down to the palace.

My heart skipped a beat as we walked past it. King Muna never makes empty threats.

"Mr Oscar, this isn't a joke. King Muna will definitely massacre your whole family by this time tomorrow if you did not dance to his tune. He even sent an edict," Alpha Simpson said looking earnestly from my father to Becca.

"King Muna is unpredictable, if he gets angry, things might not end with your family alone. He could annihilate the whole pack." Alpha Simpson added, looking at Becca squarely.

"I will do it!" I screamed without thinking.

"Good radiance to bad rubbish!" Becca retorted scornfully.

"How dare you speak up! You unfilial and unpatriotic fool! You would rather prefer that everyone get killed, right?" Alpha Simpson yelled in his alpha voice and we all shivered.

Becca flinched, she bowed her head and couldn't look up.

"Are you sure you are up for this? If you are not, do not make yourself a sacrificial lamb. Becca is the eldest and the obligation is hers. If she is not willing, I can order her to do it," Alpha Simpson said in a more gentle tone and silence fell.

I looked at my step mother who glared at me with hateful eyes. She obviously wanted her daughter to become part of the royal family even if it meant getting married to a useless prince.

I glanced at my father who looked blank.

Skylar was quiet, she was still hurting over Stanley's rejection. I haven't got over it either, but here is a more pressing issue, survival comes first.

Luna Katherine had a cryptic smile on her face and Alpha Simpson was as stoic as ever.

"I will do it," I said confidently.

"You saved us all," Alpha Simpson said and tension washed off his face.

"Let's get you prepared," Luna Katherine said and we all exited Alpha Simpson's office.

I stared at the royal carriage again as I made my way out.

Alpha Simpson led the way. He beckoned Becca to leave whilst he led me and my parents down to the carriage.

His guards opened the carriage and there were gifts and clothes from the royal family.

"The king must have bestowed the apparels to the bride. He wants you to show up dressed in them," Luna Katherine offered and smiled ruefully.

Just as I turned around to leave, my gaze fell on Stanley. He was peeking from behind one of the almond trees around Alpha Simpson's office.

He looked at me with disdain, he looked hurt and gloomy.

My heart squeezed in pain again. "You rejected me, I am the one in pain," I mind synced with him.

"And now, you are off to marry a useless prince all because you wanted to become one of the royal family. I never knew you were so ambitious!" He yelled.

"What!?" I yelled in disbelief. I couldn't imagine that Becca, who left our company a few minutes ago, had ran her mouth again.

Well, those two should go to hell. None of them is worth salvation.

I made my way to my room to tidy things up.

"I am doing this to ensure everyone's safety," I said to myself as I made up my mind.

Soon, my father, Luna Katherine and her attendants walked in.

"I know, you can do this… but I will miss you. I wanted to keep you by my side where I will continue to see your face. I missed your mother so badly," my father said and hugged me tightly.

"We have to be fast with this. The palace is far," Luna Katherine's voice boomed from the background and slowly my father pulled me out of his embrace. He patted my shoulder and gave me a reassuring look as he walked out of the room.

Luna Katherine's attendant got busy and in no time, I was dolled up.

I was dressed up in the traditional apparels that were gifted to me. It was a heavy regalia and I needed help to be able to walk in it.

It was time to go and I was led down to the royal carriage.

Few of my friends accompanied me. They all looked gloomy and some were in tears.

My father and Alpha Simpson walked side by side as they discussed. Becca and her mother were nowhere to be found. Stanley wasn't around either.

"I am not going to die. I am getting married," I said to my company as I was ready to leave.

They waved at me and the carriage kicked off. Alpha Simpson's guards were the ones who carried the carriage.

The sun had set when we made it to the palace. It was a long journey.

The palace maids were already waiting, it was as if they were expecting my arrival.

They helped me out of the carriage and I had a good look.

I was awestruck as I beheld the beauty of the palace. It was a large property and I couldn't see the end of its walls.

King Muna's palace sat in the middle of the property. It was outstandingly beautiful.

The maids took me slowly through different passageways and finally we were standing at the entrance of the throne room.

Dread filled my heart as I waited. I have never been around the royals before.

A strong aura filtered through my body. It was stronger than Alpha Simpson's aura. Cold shivers ran down my spine and I fidgeted as I waited for the king's order.

"Lead her in!" The king's voice came at last.

The maids lifted my regalia and helped me in. As soon as we got in, they bowed in greetings and left immediately.

I did likewise. I bowed my head in obeisance and knotted before the king. Two maids that served the king directly walked towards me. They held me by my arms as I fell on my knees and made the last round of greetings.

I remained on my knees while the maids returned to their position.

"How dare you defy my orders?" The king said coldly and I shivered.

"Lift up your head!" He ordered.

I lifted my head slowly to behold the coldest gaze I had ever seen. The king looked down at me with disdain and fury.

He aura in the throne room was stronger than what I felt outside. I felt weak and my knees gave way. I broke my gaze from the king as I swayed to the side.

"Lead her down to Prince Regan's palace," He ordered.

Two eunuchs rushed out and lifted me up. I swayed from side to side as they led me away.
