CHAPTER THREE

IN JORDAN COSMETIC INDUSTRY

Thump

"Come in," Nicole says as Susan Johnson, the director's own associate, strolls into her office.

"How may I help you?" Nicole inquired.

"Good day, Miss Nicole. You are required in the director's office at this moment," Susan said, passing the administrator message to her.

"OK, I will be there shortly." Nicole expresses tranquility as Susan gestures to her head and heads out of the workplace.

"Tina, I need to go now; I have something to take care of," Nicole says.

"OK, bye, be careful," Tina says.

"Better believe it, deal with yourself as well, and remember to eat," Nicole tells her.

"Sure, I will. Bye," Tina says as she hangs up.

Nicole Scott is a 21-year-old woman who works as a dermatologist and also serves as the managing director of the Jordan Cosmetics company.

She has been in the industry for three years, thanks to her parents, Mr. Bradley and Mrs. Irene Scott, who assisted her in obtaining the position.

"Why would the Chairman want to see me in the middle of the night?"

"I just hope everything is fine," Nicole said as she stood up from her chair, arranged her hair, and got properly dressed.

She finally leaves her office and goes to the chairman's office.

The doorbell rings.

Nicole continues to knock as she receives no response; she begins to suspect that Susan is playing with her, but Susan would never do such a thing.

Mr. Gilbert Jordan, the chairman and owner of Jordan Cosmetic Industry, a 58-year-old man of average height, was on the phone when he heard the knock on his office door.

"I'll call you back in an hour or so, okay," he says to the person on the phone before hanging up and placing the phone on his desk.

"Yes, come in," Mr. Gilbert says as the door slowly opens and Nicole walks in.

"Mr. Gilbert, you sent for me," Nicole says, perplexed as to why the chairman had sent for her.

It was so uncalled for that, despite the fact that the Chairman and her parents were friends, he never once summoned her.

Nicole, on the other hand, never went to him; all information from him was passed through Susan, as was all information from the employees; it was completely unnecessary.

"I sent for you, Miss Nicole."

"Please take a seat," Mr. Gilbert says as he motions to the chair in front of him.

"Mr. Gilbert, is everything all right?" Nicole inquired of the chairman.

"Yes, everything is fine."

"Don't worry about it; just relax, okay?" As Nicole sat down, the chairman's gaze traveled around her body.

Something was wrong here; with the way the chairman kept staring at her, she was convinced the old man was up to no good.

Mr. Gilbert picks up a file and hands it to her; she had no idea, but she was so tense when she collected the file and quickly stood up to leave his office.

"Not yet, return," Mr Gilbert said to me.

She suspected he was up to no good.

"Chairman, is there anything else you would like to tell me?" Nicole posed her question with assurance, but she was secretly terrified—and she had no idea why.

"Is everything okay, Miss Nicole?" You appear to be rushing, so please take a seat. She was requested to sit down, and Mr. Gilbert gestured for her to do so by pointing to the same chair she had been sitting on moments earlier.

While the chairman continued to fixate on her from head to toe, Nicole walked in and sat down to wait to hear what he had to say.

"Why is he staring at me like that?" Nicole questioned herself as she made an effort to compose herself.

"Open the file," the chairman commanded, as quickly she picked up the file from her laps and opened it.

After which, she brought out the document that was inside.

"You can read, right?" He asked again, and I felt uncomfortable with his eyes all over me.

"Yes, sir, I can read," she replied, wondering why she would not know how to read; apart from being scared, she really wanted to know what was written inside the document, but certainly not here in his office. But what can she do?

"Read it," he commanded, and immediately she started reading what was written inside the document.

After reading it to the last word, she felt like she was going to lose consciousness; she thought it was a dream because she never expected that she would be promoted, let alone promoted to Chief Executive Officer.

"Are you done reading the content in the paper?" Mr. Gilbert asked, and she assumed he saw the change in her expression.

"Yes, sir, I cannot believe this. Thank you so much for... " Nicole couldn't finish up her statement when Mr. Gilbert interrupted her.

"NOT SO FAST, MISS NICOLE SCOTT."
