I gonna admit me and Ly were kind off addicted to the beef steaks and lasagna served here that it became almost our usual.

“Isn’t obvious Mrs. C, we’ll never get tired of eating your beef steaks.  Come on now chop chop bring it here coz I’m more than hungry,” Laila says making all of us laugh.

“Alright coming right up darling,” Mrs. C says hitting Ly’s had playfully and leaves.

When Mrs. C leaves we are left at our table making small talk on matters concerning our lives.

“So tell me babe when are you planning on allowing men to take you out. You need to get a man Kira you’re getting old,” she jokes.

“Uumh…… not now ly but when I do get one I’ll let you know,” I tell her.

“Oh come on am getting tired of being the only one giving stories about how my love life is going. I need to hear you tell me stories about yourself and your man,” she whines.

Laila is three years older than me and she’s already married and has a two year old son. Jake Collins her husband owns a law firm. That doesn’t stop ly from working. She has a passion for business. That’s why she works for me at, despite her husband owning a law firm. Since they are both always busy with work they’ve hired a babysitter to take care of their two year old son Brandon. That boy is a little bundle of joy to everyone and he adores me so much.

Laila has been there for me since the time I finished school and started up my business. She has seen a huge number of me ask me out for dates but I reject them. I was so focused on building up my empire that I never had time for relationships. The only person I can say I liked was Josh Anderson back from high school. I used to have a little crush on him since middle school but he never once glanced my way. Despite that I continued my crush but it soon ended in junior year when he joined his girlfriend Melisa in bullying me. By the time we completed high school I hated him with every cell in my body seeing as I saw the other side of him that I considered evil. I hated him for causing so much pain.

I never really trusted any other man in my life other than my father since I thought they’d all be like the boys in high school and college. Most guys back in high school dated girls for fun or bets and dropped them like trash. I also saw this happen in college hence my decision to not make friends. Dylan was different though. He was gay and already had a boyfriend from another college who I never got a chance to meet. I had been put through so much humiliation in high school and I didn’t want a guy to break my heart. However, I was a believer in love matters and I always hoped to find a man who’ll love me unconditionally and give me a happily ever after. I was also a family person and it was my dream to one day has a big family of my own.

My thoughts were interrupted when Mrs. C brings our orders and leaves us to enjoy our meals. My office had a cafeteria where most workers went to lunch but ly and I mostly went out. We dig in to our meals with no worry in the world only savoring how good the food is. As soon as we are done Laila orders a passion drink and I buy some water. We order Paul’s favorite food as a takeout and head back towards the car.

“You didn’t have to buy me lunch Kira,” Paul complains as he gets on into the driver’s seat.

“You don’t have to pretend you’re not hungry Paul, the food here is the sweetest.  If you don’t want it I always got space for one more meal,” Laila says as she reaches for the takeout bag from where Paul has place it.

Paul swats her hand away and glares at her making her laugh harder. Laila picks up her phone to check up on Brad. I smile as soon as I hear his cute little giggles as his mom talk to the nanny. I really can’t wait for the end of the day to go see him. Brad is the cutest little guy with big dimpled chubby cheeks and the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen. He also smiles at everyone around him making everyone that knows him smile. I’ve gotta admit, I love that boy and usually I spoil him at every chance I get.

Whenever ly and Jake want to spend some alone time or go on a vacation, I offer to watch on Brad inorder to spend some time with him. Laila sometimes allows me to take him to my place for a sleepover. He is never stubborn therefore he’s very easy and fun to be with. I easy words he’s a happy baby. He also has a big crush on me and never wants to be far from me whenever I’m around.

Paul drops us off at the front of our office and we head to the elevator. As soon as we’re inside I press the button to the 40th floor where my and Laila’s offices are. I have a meeting with a few clients who show interest in our latest designs. Laila heads to her office to compete her work. I told her to stay and finish up her work as I can handle the clients on my own. I head out to meet with the clients one at a time and without realizing it it’s already 7:00pm in the evening. As I’m heading back to the office to complete some work and close up, I get a call from Laila asking me to babysit Brad for the coming week since Jake had planned a surprise trip to London for the both of them.

The ride home was quiet and the only sound that could be heard was from the roaring of my car. I had been so distracted by memories from the past lately, that by the end of the day my mind and body was tired. It did not take long to get home since it was pretty late in the night and most people had already retired to the comfort of their homes. I tried convincing Sean to spend the night at my place but just like any other time I had asked, he declined my offer. He always said he had to get home to someone and only a few of us knew who that person was.Sean had been engaged to Clara back in our college days and when we got to our junior year, they got married. I had met Sean and a few of my friends and his in a class we had together. Our circle became so close that even after graduating we still kept in touch. Every one of our friends had told Sean that it was crazy for him to get married so young. Some of them even tried to convince him to at least wait until we graduated and

“Mr. Anderson…..Josh uhm hello? Dude what has got you in so much deep thoughts?” I heard my driver and personal bodyguard Sean ask. I looked down at my watch and realized just how late it was. I had been thinking about the past for more than an hour. I didn’t even remember when my personal assistant left. All I remember was her telling me that she was done for the day. I realized that since I had met Kira recently, all I could think about was her. I could not seem to get her out of my mind which was not a good thing. This was bad. This was really bad because I knew my feelings for her were growing stronger. This was not going to end well because I believed that from what had happened in the past, she would be a fool to fall in love with me. “Dude you’ve been spacing out a lot nowadays what is happening to you. What’s on your mind?” Sean asks with a worried expression on his face. I had known Sean for a while now and despite working, for me we were pretty clos

“Melisa….where are you? Come out from whatever place you are hiding at because I am gonna find you,” I called out angrily the following morning, knocking on her front door impatiently. I was not one to entertain drama in my life but I just could not let what Melisa had done get past me. I did not care if her parents were home I just had to confront her. What she had done could have ruined my life if I had not thought of doing the tests by myself. The front door was opened by her mom with a confused yet scowling expression. Even back when we were dating, her parents did not approve of my and Melisa’s relationship. I did not take it personally since I knew what my reputation was like around town. Not to that I was proud but people always judged and made opinions about everything. I admit to dating and sleeping around with some few girls from school but most of them made up stories just to get noticed around school. “Why are you looking for my daughter, what do you want

After playing some video games, Derek suggested that we should go out to a party before all hell broke loose. I agreed with him on that. I had to have fun before the results came out determining whether I was going to be a father or not. I lend him some of my clothes so that he would not waste time going back to his house to get changed. I told him to use one of the guest rooms to get ready. In no time we were headed to the party in my Overfinch truck. We partied and danced around with random girls until late in the night. I was wasted completely but Derek had control his drinking. I guess he knew that I needed that party since it could be my last one in a while. I gave him the keys to the truck and he drove us back to my house. He dragged me to my bedroom and laid me on the bed and I passed out in no time. I woke up the next day with a killer headache. The sun seemed brighter than usual and it made my headache even worse. I grabbed the remote on the night stand and shut the

We entered a room with a bed and some screens which I didn’t know what they were used for. The nurse who had led us to the room told Melisa to lay on the bed and wait for the doctor to come. After a few minutes a middle aged lady walked in and introduced herself as Doctor Adrian. She told us the she was going to be Melisa’s doctor all through her pregnancy. She checked the board she was holding then looked at us. I looked at her with brows raised wondering what she was thinking. She then asked us whether we really need a paternity test done.I was about to ask her whether it was a problem when she explained that the tests should not be done in early stages of pregnancy since it could harm the baby. She also said that it was not always the case but it was a possibility. I told her to proceed with the test to which she just nodded her head. Most people would think that I did not care about the baby’s safety when making that decision but I really needed t

  • BITTERSWEET MEMORIES   CHAPTER 11

I drunk myself to sleep that day and woke up later in the evening. I would tell my parents about Melisa’s pregnancy when we were sure it was mine. I looked around my room and saw all the bags I had packed for college disappointedly. I was disappointed in myself for being reckless and not being able to go to college. I would let them stay packed till we went to the doctors which would be soon. I went around the house lazily wondering what I was going to do with my life. I reached the kitchen and opened the fridge. I knew that my nanny had been here sometime in the day when I was asleep.Whenever she was here, she always cooked some food and left it for me in the fridge. She knew that I wouldn’t cook to save a life. She had been cooking for me my whole life and never allowed me in the kitchen when she was cooking. I found some chicken and some lasagna which I reheated and had for super. After I was done eating, I went to the game room which was in the basement
