Attack on me

Abhishek got me to believe that there was something huge neither he nor his mom was willing to talk about.

The next morning, I got out of my room and noticed that everywhere was festive.

Avanti walked out of her room and we met each other on the way, I turned to her and asked why the celebration was.

Avanti looked around and immediately recalled that today was Karva Chauth.

She explained that

Karva Chauth is a one-day festival celebrated annually by married Hindu women in which they observe a fast from sunrise to moonrise and pray for the well-being and longevity of their husbands. The festival is also observed by unmarried women who pray in the hope of securing a desired life partner.

What a long ritual right?

I left there and stepped into the kitchen, Mrs. Mathilda was busy teaching Pinky their customs and traditions, and they both turned around and saw me coming.

Mrs. Mathilda grinned and Whispered something to Pinky's ears, she laughed immediately and I am sure she was speaking about me.

Mr. Ajay came in and called out his wife, Pinky left and I was alone in the kitchen.

I turned around to leave when I bumped into Abhishek on the way, he shifted his hand and allowed me to.

I left without saying anything. I got back into the living room and walked to my bedroom.

Thereafter, I got a visit from Mr. Ajay, he walked into my bedroom and handed me a dress to wear for the feast in the evening.

I thanked him after he handed the gown to me and he left.

I came down when the ceremony began, everyone had worn a saree.

Well, the married woman to be precise.

I searched around for Avanti and bumped into her brother on the way.

He looked at my attire and complimented me. I thanked him and verged ahead looking for my best friend.

On my way, I heard Pinky and Mrs. Anuradha talking together.

Mrs. Anuradha advised Pinky to do whatever it took to get her son ready for marriage.

She complained that Abhishek didn't believe in marriage and had given Pinky the job to make her son believe in marriage and true looks.

I left them after listening, I walked to the backyard in search of my best friend, but for some strange reason, I couldn't find Avanti.

I thought she must be in her bedroom. I ran in however her room was empty.

I got scared immediately, I hope she doesn't do anything stupid.

I turned around to leave the room when I heard someone grunting from the bathroom.

I ran ahead and pushed to door open.

Avanti looked up at my face and I was her tired to the ground.

I  went after her and carried her up from the ground.

I removed the rope and asked her what happened.

She looked at her window and I spotted a note written and kept it there.

Avanti asked me to go read it

Avanti expressed her fear, she said someone had this letter tied to a stone.

I opened the letter and it talked about someone who was going to die tonight during the festival.

Avanti took my hands and asked us to go inform the entire family, I rebuked her and told her not to.

It will be bad for us to spoil the festival since everyone has already come.

Avanti understood and suggested we keep an eye on her family. I shook my head and we left together for the party.

On the way, I asked why she was tied up in the bathroom, Avanti said someone had hit her on her way out to the party.

I sensed something wrong, however what?..

Mrs. Anuradha walked away with pinky as we rode in, Abhishek was busy talking with some guests while Mr. Ajay had his eyes busy with his friends.

Avanti and I  scouted around, there was nothing too strange happening and so I went to the wine bar to get a drink.

I picked up a drink without looking and gulped down everything, immediately I turned back to see what was happening, I saw a man running upstairs, he looked kinda suspicious and I followed him.

Unfortunately, it was a bad lead, I came down again and Avanti came to me.

"Please come with me,?" She says.

I followed and the moment we stepped out of the house, we heard something drop on the ground.

We turned around immediately and met the chandelier broken, I looked around and thankfully everyone was okay.

Avanti and I came back together and Mr. Ajay asked what happened.

Abhishek said he would inform the police, he takes a walk away.

I turned my back and followed me.

Pinky finds me coming after him and so she comes and blocks my way.

"Where do you think you're going?" She says.

I tried ignoring her, I don't know but I feel something strange was about to happen.

Abhishek walks into the kitchen with his phone in his ear when suddenly we hear him scream.

Everyone ran in and we met him wounded on his shoulders.

Abhishek was shot through the window, I looked a little further and saw a man running away.

I screamed out and followed him.

I ran out of the party with my hair dangling from each end.

The man refused to stop, I pursued him into a busy street, the man ran in and I accidentally lost sight of him.

I came home afterward and there were police cars outside, Avanti was busy giving her statement when Mrs. Anuradha walked out and dragged me back to her gaze.

"How dare you?" She screamed.

I asked what the problem was, and Mrs. Anuradha said she wouldn't mind hitting me if I was her daughter.

Abhishek walked out and pulled her back.

I still didn't understand anything.

I asked again what was going on, and Abhishek turned around and answered me.

"Why didn't you tell us about the attack on Avanti's life?"

He says.
