CHAPTER 33 - MISSING

Kara held her chin up when she passed by Nico.

She heard Marmie greet him, but Kara did not spare him a glance, unhappy with what he forced her to do.

Kara knew he was looking at her, waiting, but she could not fake what she did not feel.

They went to their assigned floor and started work.

Kara fished out a key card to open a unit.

“Housekeeping,” Kara called out to alert a guest of their presence.

When no one answered, she signaled Marmie, and they came in.

They went in opposite directions, forming a letter v. Kara went to the bed while Marmie went straight to the bathroom.

Kara went to arrange the bed, picked up scattered clothes, used bathroom robes and towels, and put them in a basket.

“This looks like a pigsty,” Marmie complained.

Kara shushed her.

“Somebody might hear you.” She said in reproach.

Marmie put her hands on her hips.

“Let them hear me. This place does not look like people live here. Ewww!” Marmie added, shuddering.
