MasukThroughout the ride, Remy listened to his grandfather talk about his cousins' children. He was a lover of kids but not a lover of love. Sebastian talked about the woman from some of Jenson's family, flattering her in all sorts of manner. That was the first time hearing Sebastian flatter any woman so much and he just sat in the car with his, smiling, speaking when intended, otherwise listening to his neverending talks. Sebastian may be all hard on the outside but with family,he was a different man. Maybe, marriage wasn't so much drama, She has nothing much to do just bear him kids he would adore and stay in the frame while he takes care of her. When the car pulled up in some small building and Sebastian gave him a signal that this was their destination, he chuckled. What did the man have to attract his grandfather?. His door was opened and he got down looking at the decent environment .It was a portable duplex behind a small gate. Anyone can fly through. The door to the house opened shortly after Sebastian pressed the bell by the gate and a middle-age man in his butler uniform. Sebastian had insisted they go with just a handful of guards but the butler was still shaken when he saw them, he hurried in and a minute later, another man came out with a woman, apparently his wife coming after him.
“ Good afternoon Sir, welcome to our humble abode” he said, punching in some pins in the gate wall.
“Afternoon Taylor. Apologies for my impromptu visit, I am not a patient Man” Sebastian said smoothly.
“ Oh no sir, it's fine. You are always welcome” the man named Taylor replied and turned to him.
“ Go..go.. good aft…”
“ Keep it” he said, raising his hand to stop his greeting..he was used to awkward moments and Taylor shut his mouth, running ahead to open the door to his house. Remy could see the obvious anxiousness in him. It was normal for anyone to push their daughter to the Hawthorne and he, Taylor will have a lot to gain.
“You have a beautiful home” Sebastian said
“Oh yeah… thanks so much Sir, it's all thanks to my wife” Taylor stammered “ please have your seat,Sir” he said. Remy sat down right beside his grandfather, he has never gone to anyone, they came to him so being here made the whole space boring not to mention the host awkwardness. His grandfather should be done here and he will turn the proposal down. A lady walked down from the stairs, their eyes locked but she paused, turned and attempted to run back up the stairs.
“ Sylvia" Ramona called, Remy furrowed. He's uninterested. She was pretty but then she was plain. Just every other ladies. She walked back to them and Sebastian smiled.
“ Urm… good day sir”
“Sir, meet my second daughter Sylvia…”
“ I’ve seen her… She was at the party last night”Sebastian said interrupting Taylor and Taylor stopped, did he take note of everyone in his party? “ Where's your second daughter?”
“She's not at home”
“ She's upstairs” Ramona and Taylor said in unison and Remy furrowed.
“ Okay,” Sebastian simply said, watching the couple. Taylor was not letting a chance to lose Sebastian trust this early, he gestured to the butler to go up and call Lyra down. Ramona excused herself to go bring drinks for the guests. A minute later, the butler came down alone .
“ Where's she?” Taylor asked, going to meet Davis, their Butler.
“ She refuses to come down. She said I should let you know she will not leave her room” Davis whispered to him
“ That brat!” Taylor cursed and turned to them “ she is having a moment, I will go check up on her…”
“Not necessary” Remy said standing up “ I will see her myself” he said then gestured at Sylvia “ come lead the way”
“Me?” Sylvia gasped then hurried to lead the way so as not to cross him. She was surprised that the man she had bumped into just at last night's party was in their house the very afternoon and unannounced as Remy Hawthorne. She wasn't sure what was going on but she was sure he couldn't end up with Lyra. Lyra was introverted, homeschooled, limited knowledge and no fashion sense. She doesn't fit in at all. He followed her as she led the way and she tried to strike a conversation but his face was evidence enough that he was in no mood for that. How can a man so handsome be so fearful at the same time. She got to Lyra's room and stopped.
“ This…”
“Will she automatically come out” he interrupted giving her a side look “knock” he commanded, she blinked and aggressively knocked on the door. Did he take her for their maid? She heard Lyra's grumble and dropped her hand watching the door.
“ What are you waiting for?” he asked again
“ Her to..”
“Leave” he commanded so coldly and she looked at him but quickly looked away and went back the stairs while repeatedly looking back, that handsome piece of art can't belong to Lyra.
Remy stood at the door, staring at it. A minute had passed since he heard her grumble but the door wasn't opening. He had never knocked a door all his life and being here made it seem as though he was waiting to be attended to, she was the price. He scoffed. What a brat and was going to leave when the door opened and some lady in an oversized top and trouser, unruly hair and natural face appeared. He tried to process his word, was this the thing that was delaying him but before he could, she pushed her hair back , two blues eyes looking him over like she was born tired.
“ Wrong room” she said tiredly then raised her voice the very next minute “ don't bang a door like that next time” and with that she slammed the door to his face. His face.
“ What.. what in God name…” he stood transfixed, scoffed aloud slowly. Had she just banged a door to my face?
Taylor stood impatiently, looking at the stairs frequently, praying Lyra did not embarrass him while Sebastian was tapping his leg, praying Remy doesn't straggle life out of their daughters. Sylvia came down looking grumpy and just joined them in the waiting.
“You can have your seat,”Sebastian said, gesturing to their furniture.
“ Thank you Sir” Taylor said sitting down, he forced a smile trying to remain calm hoping Lyra doesn't ruin this good that was beginning to happen to them. Two big companies had already reached out to his company within the space of last night to the afternoon”
“And Mr Jenson,I am in love with the pen you gave me.”
“ I'm glad,Sir.”
“When will you be less busy this week?”Sebastian asked
“Anytime chairman” Taylor replied immediately
“ I want you to meet some shareholders, you mentioned producing rubber, why can't you begin making your own product, the market rate for branded items are…” Remy walked down at that moment and Sebastian studied his face, he couldn't even discern him
“Grandpa, it's time to leave,” Remy said, approaching his grandfather.
“ I was making lunch, I was hoping…”
“ Some other time, Mrs Jenson” Sebastian said then turn to Taylor “ we'll catch up, dinner still holds”
“Noted Sir” Taylor said, following them out. Once out of the Jenson’s gate and Sebastian sat in the car, he turned to Remy.
“ Is she still alive?” He asked .
“ I wish not but she is” Remy said then smiled turning to face his grandfath
er “ I think she's cute, I'll marry her”
Early the next morning, a ringing phone woke Lyra. She sat up thinking it was Slyvia, but it was the Samsung by her bedside ringing. She took a glance at Slyvia; she was lying on the bed, her eyes on her.“Pfff,” Lyra puffed and got out of the bed before picking the call as she walked away. She didn't know who her caller was, but definitely, she didn't want Slyvia to hear her conversation.“Hello.”“Walnut, how are you?” a masculine voice came through. She paused. Walnut?“Who am I unto?” she asked. Then it clicked before he responded. She got into the bathroom and locked the door behind her. “Remy, how did you get…” she paused. How did he get the number he bought for her? That was stupid. “Good morning,” she said.“That's more like it. Good morning. I hope you slept well,” he said. She didn't. She woke up multiple times to Slyvia going through her stuff. She had vexed, they'd quarreled, and still, once she closed her eyes, Slyvia still went through her stuff.“Yeah, yourself?” she li
Lyra sat down after Slyvia left and stared at the phone. As the minutes passed, she opened the pack, brought out the phone, and inspected it. It looked like every other phone, and she turned it on. Soon, she became so invested in inserting the SIM he had added to the pack and setting up the phone that she didn’t notice how time flew...until her door stormed open and her father came in.He looked at her in surprise, as though she were a ghost.“Lyra,” he said slowly.Lyra looked up at her father, wondering why he looked so surprised to see her. Oh, he had expected her never to return home. He was, in fact, happy with his little family.“Who’s he?” Taylor suddenly charged toward Lyra. He stopped when he noticed the phone in her hand and smirked. “He got you a phone? Is that what you’re whoring around for?” he asked.Lyra stood up from the bed, dropping the phone.“Leave my room, Father,” she said.He paused and looked at her. “I will not leave,” he said. “I own this house. This building
Sebastian stared at Remy, wondering what was over his grandson.“Rem, did you have knowledge of where she was… wait, you kidnapped her?” Sebastian suddenly exclaimed. Remy laughed at his grandfather's surprise. “You shouldn't do that. Her parents were worried, I was worried,” he said.“I didn't kidnap her, Grandpa,” Remy said. “I am not going into details, but start preparation for our wedding. We have limited time,” he added. He was more than excited to get married, something he had dreamed of years back. Sebastian took out his phone and started strolling through his contacts.“Mister, are you doubting me?” he asked, and Sebastian stopped.“Have you returned their daughter to them?” he asked.~¥~Lyra got down from the taxi and watched it leave before turning to her house. Finally, a time to die peacefully. She walked to the gate and punched in the passkey, walking through when it opened before heading right in. The butler appeared at the sound of the gate opening, and she saw the cl
Mark pulled apart the curtain of the hotel on the top floor. His phone started ringing, and he brought it out from his unpacked bag on the bed. It was his boss, Cedric Huxley.“Yes, Boss,” he said immediately as he picked up the call.“Mark, where are you?” Cedric asked through the phone in a low, menacing tone.“I’m out of town, Boss.”“Get back now,” he commanded.“I’m sorry, Boss, but I’m running the Chairman's errand,” Mark replied very calmly.“Do it quick and get back here,” Cedric said and ended the call. Mark sighed and dropped his phone on the side table. Pictures of the lady who had bumped in front of their car several nights back, captured by the dashcam, were on the bed. He had limited time to source out one person in the whole of city A, and he'll start walking from tomorrow.¥“Is that all?” Lyra asked when the doctor came back into his office; her prospective husband had personally dropped her off at the hospital for the full-body checkup.“Yes, ma,” he said with a poli
“Wow, congratulations. When are they getting married?” Dorian asked.Ramona cleared her throat lightly. “It’s still in process,” she replied, a small smile forming on her lips.“Congratulations once again.” He watched her as she settled into the seat opposite him before asking, more carefully this time, “Ma… what about Lyra? Is she back home yet?”Ramona scoffed.“That one? She ran off to her man,” she said dismissively.Dorian’s heart dropped. Her man?“Her man?” he repeated, his voice lower now.Ramona waved her hand as if the very thought irritated her. “Yes, her man.”Dorian went still, but he was pissed by the thought of her with another man.“Lyra has a man? Who is he?” he asked trying to remain careful.“Who knows?” Ramona shrugged. “Some mysterious man she’s always sneaking off to meet.”She didn’t notice the change in his expression.Sneaking off to meet him…So she didn’t just leave, she ran to someone. And suddenly, the thought settled heavily in his mind.It was that man. T
“Who would believe that ungrateful girl decided to run away with a man, despite all my efforts on that lady? I raised her,” Ramona said as she chewed on a sliced apple. Slyvia was at the table with her, busy on her phone. It had been days since the dinner incident. “We couldn't even have dinner with Hawthorne, and did you even see the eyes of that grandson....?”“So pretty.”“So scary.”Ramona and Slyvia said at the same time, and Slyvia smiled.“Yeah, he can be scary, but he's so handsome, and even when he's angry, it only gives him a cuter side,” Slyvia said, and Ramona breathed in.“What do you think about getting married to Dorian Bowers?”“Do.... Dorian?” Slyvia coughed. “No, Mom, I can't get married to Bowers.”“But he's a nice person, and you both would work out so well.”“No, Mom, I can't marry Dorian. I mean, I would rather live in the kitchen, mopping the floor every day than....”“Slyvia, this is a respectable man. He studied well, he comes from a reputable background, and
“What the actual fuckkkkkk!” Dorian screamed, clearing the whole desk with a swipe of his hand in anger. He stormed through his penthouse. Two of his men were found dead by the road in Los Angeles, and the third one was missing. The lady they claimed to have found was gone. Who the actual fuck is L
“What was that all about?” Taylor asked the moment their car drove out of the Hawthorne gate.Ramona rolled her eyes at her husband and scoffed. “Shouldn’t you be worried about your kidnapped daughter?”Slyvia turned in her seat from the front and looked back at her parents. “Dad, was she really ki
The doctor stiffened as Remy walked in, and Lyra saw it. He stood up straight. “Mr. Hawthorne, I would be leaving now,” he said. “Goodbye, Doctor,” Remy replied, his eyes fixed on Lyra Jenson. He watched as she watched the doctor leave, and something crawled in him. Why would she stare at another
~ City G ~Cedric Huxley walked out of the airport in City G, Mark pulling their bag after him. There was a grey-coloured Bugatti awaiting them. Cedric walked to it, and the door was opened, with the staff greeting him, but his obvious anger got the best of him. His father, Chairman Huxley, was in
