Josephine

“Do you two know each other?” I asked, my voice laced with suspicion.

Oma snickers. “I mean, I know her from her research on historical weapons from Africa."

Katya beams, seemingly happy to meet someone with the same interests as her. “Thank you, it was my Masters dissertation.”

Oma smiled tightly, nodding before turning to me. “I just moved into the apartment a few blocks from here so I decided to try out this place.”

My eyes widens in surprise from the coincidence. “You mean the red brick apartment with three floors?”

She nods, lifting up her hand to show me her room key which had the number ‘4B’ on it. It was just a floor beneath mine which caused excitement to bubble within my chest .

“Wow, what a coincidence. We should definitely hangout sometime.” I offer.

She nods with a soft chuckle. “Sure, I’ll reach out.”

The night went on with Katya and I getting our takeouts before heading back to the apartment. We ate while watching some cringy ass reality TV an

Josephine He steps forward and that makes me back away instinctively. My heart raced with anxiety and a heavy emotion in my chest that I couldn’t really tell if it’s overwhelming nerves or something else.... “What are you doing here?” he asks, eyes snapping from the soaked shopping bag behind me and back to me. I swallowed thickly, feeling tears well up in my eyes. “I was just leaving.” I spat bitterly, making my way to leave. Sasha grabs my arm, holding me back as another lightning crackled in the now dark sky. “What’s wrong, Kratoska?” “Let go of me!” I snatch my arm back, slightly slipping on the sloppy driveway. He grabs me by the waist and I let out a sharp gasp, the umbrella in my hand, slipping off to land softly on the wet soil. My wide teary eyes snap to his grey ones that held a certain softness in them which makes my heart stutter. With furrowed brows of inner confusion, I let out a shaky breath before speaking. “How long have you been back from Russia?” I a

Josephine My teeth chattered harshly as the chilly night air hit my exposed skin. I had received a sudden text instructing me to Mr Chevalier's home for an emergency and of course it had to be at the middle of a chilly night. I moved my feet quickly across the dimly lit street that led to his home or more like a freaking mansion. My brows furrowed instinctively as I noticed there were more guards stationed around the perimeters. “What the hell?.....” I muttered to myself. Anxiety makes it’s way to my heart causing my pulse to quicken as I walk towards the large gate. The stoic guard says nothing but guides me through the long front yard of the mansion. The air felt tense as my eyes glanced around in slight fear, something doesn’t feel right. “E-excuse me, is Mr Chevalier okay?” The stoic bodyguard doesn’t reply, instead he quickens his steps to the main entrance of the mansion. My body instantly felt relieved as the warm air seeped into my skin, I let out a relieved

Happy birthday my ass, there was nothing happy about today which is my birthday. Firstly, my shift started so early in the morning, secondly, I had missed the bus because I didn’t wake up on time and thirdly to top it all, birthday sex with Mathew sucked ass! Thankfully the bus stopped right across the street from Saint Peterson’s memorial hospital that I currently worked at. I sipped my morning tea, crossing the street to the hospitals gate. “Happy birthday, Jo!” The security guard waved. I held back from groaning out loud but gave him a polite smile and waved back in a hurry. I was probably the only person that hated when others knew about my birthday which was a strange feeling. The strong scent of antiseptics that filled the hospital air immediately wafted my nostrils as i rushed into the elevator to my ward. Slipping into my routine was easy while I masked my exhaustion with a fake smile. I have gotten used to the chaos of my unlucky life, long hours, meager pay, toxic

Josephine “Jo?” Mathew called out, cutting me from the predatory trap that the mysterious grey eyed man had on me. I cleared my throat, my ears burning in embarrassment of shamelessly staring at another man. Mathew looked ahead, his eyes darting across the room to see what I was looking at. “W-what were you looking at?” I place my palm on his hands with a tight reassuring smile. “It’s nothing, I was lost in thought.” “Thoughts?..... I was speaking to you about my goals babe....” He clenched his teeth in anger. My heart was still racing, I could tell that he still had his eyes on me but I forced myself not to give him the attention. Everything, the food, Mathew, my birthday....they all didn’t matter anymore. I felt nauseous. “E-excuse me, I need to go to the ladies room.” “What the hell? He whispered harshly. Mathew called out but I was already up from my seat, ignoring all the stares thrown at me I walked quickly, following the signs leading to the women’s restroom.

Sasha My stale glass of Vodka sat untouched on my desk, silence filled the room with the rhythmic ticking of the ornate clock. I leaned back with my eyes fixed on the monitor before me. The security footage was grainy, but it didn’t matter as long as she was on the screen. There she is, walking through the coble street of Chevalier’s estate on her way for his weekly checkups. Pausing the screen, I glanced down to the printed photos on my desk. They were taken through the past two weeks. One of her jogging around the park with headphones on and her tight little sports workout clothes. The others were taken when she was out for work or little grocery runs with her boyfriend- a man who doesn’t deserve her. My curiosity had suddenly turned into some kind of sick obsession.... “What is it about you, Josephine Beaumont......?” I mumbled lowly. It didn’t make sense. I’ve seen countless women who were beautiful, confident, desperate. Yet none of them had ever aroused my curiosity

Jospehine “Fuckk...you feel so good Jo.” Mathew whimpered grinding into me eagerly. At this point I was already over the sex, it wasn’t enjoyable anymore. Mathew only focused on his pleasure and not mine so sex with him sucked ass.... I laid there, resisting the urge to yawn as he grunted into my ear and slammed into me in an attempt to turn me on but it just felt uncomfortable. The image of a certain grey eyed man flashes into my head and that sends shivers down my spine. My breath hitches with flushed cheeks, eyes closed, imaging his gruff Russian accent whispering nasty things into my ear. I unconsciously clench against Mathew, turned on by my imagination. “Damn, ugh!” He cums abruptly into the latex confinement of the condom and that sadly breaks my imagination. Annoyance simmered in my chest as he rolled off me, panting hard like a thirsty dog..... “Babe, that was awesome....” He chuckled to himself. My eyes widens as a slap of realization hits me. Josephine That night i couldn’t seem to fall asleep. Every time I had closed my eyes, his face flashed behind my eyelids. Those piercing grey eyes that haunts my thoughts, I couldn’t seem to ignore the unsettling feelings. I sat on the edge of the stiff motel bed with my knees to my chest, pondering on the events of last night. The constant ticking of the wall clock didn’t help to ease the turmoil I felt in my heart. Confusion etched it’s way into my head, how could we go from regular banter to physical abuse? I was aware of Mathew’s anger issues but it never went as far as to lay hands on me. My phone buzzed, eliciting a shocked gasp from my lips. “My goodness!” Thankfully it wasn’t Mathew but Evelyn, I swiped to answer quickly. “Hey Jo, is everything alright?” Her voice sounding concerned. My brows furrowed in confusion., clearing my throat painfully. “Uh...yeah, i-i sent a text calling in sick.” There was a pause at the other end before she spoke up. “Jo, you

Josephine The sky also mourned Mathew as rain came down as tears, soaking the ends of my black dress and shoes. I stood motionless with glossy eyes, staring at the freshly dug grave where Mathew laid in peace. The biting cold didn’t matter, my aching feet didn’t matter also, Mathew was gone. I stood there with a soaked bouquet in one hand and Evelyn holding an umbrella beside me. Everyone trickled away slowly, whispering their condolences to hurry out of the rain. Mathew’s family never said a word to me, they stared at me with hatred in their eyes before deciding to leave, leaving I and Evelyn alone. “Jo....Let’s go, the rain is getting stronger.....” she murmured softly. She was right, the rain wasn’t going to stop anytime soon but right now I want to be left alone in my thoughts. “You can go on Evelyn, I want to be alone.....” Her brows furrowed in concern. “Alone in the rain? No, I can’t leave you like this.” I let out an agitated sigh. “I can head home alone.

Josephine “Careful!” I scold as Evelyn shifts her weight, carrying my old college microwave as she helps me move into my new apartment. She huffs out a frustrated breath. “Why the hell are you taking this rustic machine?” she grunts. I mutter under my breath, twisting the door nob to my new apartment and Evelyn gasps from behind, rushing in to place the microwave on the counter while sighing in relief. “How did you find such a beautiful apartment?!” she squeals in excitement. I step in behind her, shutting the door. “It’s a wild story on some random Tuesday.” She chuckles, plopping down on the cream coloured couch. “This place is definitely an upgrade from your depressing studio apartment.” I chuck my keys at her as she erupts with laughter which gets immediately cut off by a buzz from my phone in my back pocket. Sasha I felt numb. Once the urgent call from Pavel came in, I assumed it was just something mundane about work. The weight in his voice made me realize that it wasn’t just any other call.... His heavy voice rang into my head. “Mr Vlad’s body was found floating at the docks. A bullet to through his head with entry point from the back.” Cowards.... That’s what those fucking French mafia was, they had caught him off guard like the fucking snakes they were. Dumping him at the docks of my sea port with a red rose in his jacket. The French signature. They wanted me to know it was them. No subtle hints but loud and arrogant boasting that they had taken down someone so important to the Bratva. Now I was here, standing over the closed black casket of the man that was more of a brother than a cousin to me. The air hung heavy, snow fell in quiet sheets, creating a dusty white layer on the casket. It was a dull day with clouds covering the sun and biting cold wind that bit throu

Josephine He heard. I didn’t need to ask because it was all written all over the smug tilt of his mouth and the gloating glint in his striking grey eyes. Panic flared in my chest, watching Sasha make his way up the stairs, slow and deliberate like a wolf stalking a prey. I forced my body to act natural and not too stiff. “....Sasha, how long have you been standing there?” He shrugs, meeting me just a step below mine but still towered over me. “I brought dinner so we could eat together.” My belly churned, noticing that he had ignored my question. Glancing down at the takeout bag in his hands and I couldn’t deny the internal happiness that blossomed just from the sight of food. “Thank you....you didn’t have to though, its already a quarter past eleven and you hand to come out here....” I bit my lip, somewhat feeling guilty. His eyes flickers to my lip before snapping back to mine. “I don’t mind, Krasotka. I’ll stay here until your shift is over.” My eyes wide

Josephine “BP’s crashing, he’s going into shock!” The sliding ER doors burst open with a bang as the paramedics wheeled in a man in uniform soaked in blood with makeshift tourniquet tied tight around his thigh. I was already pulling on gloves before the stretcher cleared the hallway. My heart racing with urgency but my mind was focused and alert to stop the bleeding as fast as possible. “GSW (Gun shot wound) to the femoral artery, likely a from a stray, he’s lost a lot of blood in the field,” the paramedic shouted, pressing hard against the wound. “Vitals are unstable.” “Alright, trauma bay two!” Charge nurse, Philip barked. We wheeled him as fast as possible, everyone taking on important roles to save his life. Without hesitation, I grab a pair of scissors and cut straight through his jeans, exposing the ugly, blood gushing wound. “Pressure now!” I yell, as the student nurse handed me a handful of sterile gauze. I press hard, watching as my colleague asses

Josephine I pulled him closer. “Ngh!....” moaning as his lips slithers down my neck, leaving a hot trail that made my heart lurch. My mind was screaming to shove him away but my body burned from his touch. I craved every little caress of his lips and his fingers on my skin like a sex deprived housewife. His hands grip my waist, pulling me closer until we were flushed against each other. I reach for his hair, slipping my fingers through his damp dark hair just like I always imagined. it's so soft.... He groaned and that made my belly tug with need, I wanted to jump this man. My lips tingled to be ravaged and it was like he knew exactly what I wanted. Cupping the back of my neck, he claimed my lips hard. “Mmmh!” His tongue plunging past my lips, dominating me through the kiss which causes my heart rate to spike to an unhealthy rhythm. He tugs on my lower lip, heated grey eyes staring down at me while I panted softly. “Is this unsettling?” he murmurs against my

Josephine The elevator made a loud groaning sound as it went up the first two floors and stopped on the third floor. We both chuckled softly to the grunting sounds of the elevator doors dinging open before stepping out. “So....how long have you been in the country?” I ask, mostly to fill up the silence and ease my anxiety. Her lips stretched into a soft dimpled smile, tucking in a strand of platinum blonde hair behind her ear. “Only a few days actually, I’ve been staying at a hotel and desperate to find a place.” She sighs, leading me down the hallway. “I’m still experiencing this jittery excitement to be in a new place but I’m sure it’ll all die off real soon...” I chuckled. “That’s how it feels in the beginning. Then you’re hit with reality in form of rent and bad takeout.” Katya bursts into giggles. “I’ve already had my fair share of the latter. There’s this sea food restaurant down town.....never trying them again.” I snorted. “Was it that bad?” She nodded w

Sasha The taste of her lips still lingered on mine, sweet, soft and addictive which was just the prefect combination. I wasn’t supposed to kiss her. Not yet. The moment her body trembled against mine, the fear and confusion in her eyes as I revealed the real truth to her made me loose all reasoning. One kiss was all it took to confirm just what I already knew She belongs to me. A smile stretched on my lips because I knew that all her attempts of distancing herself from me were all futile now.... this kiss most definitely is branded into her memory and most importantly.... She had kissed me back. It was a shocking act that I didn’t expect from her but I welcomed it with more passion. The short gasp she gave through the kiss made my ears burn hot and almost pushed me over the edge. I let her run away not bothering to chase her. Why? Because I wanted her to understand what just happened between us, let it sink in that there was something more going on and
