Chapter 23

"How did it happen? If you were there when she got kidnapped, why did you not save her? What do I pay you for?" Xavier spat at his assistant angrily. He was devastated by the news.

Scott stood in a daze, amazement wash through him. He couldn't understand why Xavier was getting mad. Everything felt like he was greatly affected by the incident.

Jasper has already explained to him that he wasn't there when she was kidnapped. She only called to ask if she could pick up a personal package for Xavier, and that was when he heard her screaming for help on the phone, and the line went off.

Charlotte already left the post office. She was standing by the roadside waiting to hail a cab. The office had told her Mr Xi had a package, from his brother, and asked Charlotte to pick it up since she works at the company.

But Charlotte was skeptical about it, since it wasn't part of her job. She decided to call jasper to ask if she could pick it up, that was how she got kidnapped at the roadside.
