2: Solution

Kade's POV

I walk out of the studio with my Beta, Austin, who had a sneer on his lips as he saw my annoyed expression after the life TV show. He knows how much I despise situations like this, particularly those involving ladies who can't keep their hands to themselves. It's not that I'm complaining; it's simply that it can be exhausting at times.

"Well, it appears that the hostess likes you."

I gave him a hard stare, which caused him to raise his hands in submission.

"What happens next?" With a glance at my wristwatch, I inquired. It's nearly 6 p.m. All I wanted to do was get home and rest.

"Your aunt has returned, and she promised you a wonderful surprise. She has found a way for you to find your mate."

I let out a deep groan and rubbed my temples together. I could feel a migraine coming on as I listened to the news; I know I should be grateful for my aunt's assistance, but I'm not. I'm sure anything aunt Mae does won't end well. It's always accompanied by a disaster, and only God knows what she's planned this time. The last time she devised a plan to locate my mate, females from other packs refused to leave, leading their Alphas to believe I had kidnapped them. They had gathered their men and planned to attack my pack, but I was able to solve the problem in time.

Call me desperate, but I need to find my mate as soon as possible, I've been searching for her all over for the past fifteen years with no outcome whatsoever, and it's beginning to grate on my fucking nerve. Even Austin has found his mate recently! I'm happy for him, but that made me more desperate.

I'm starting to think she doesn't exist anymore, maybe the moon goddess never blessed me a mate.

'She did, we have a mate. I can feel it!' My wolf Dean growled in my head.

'Yeah, I'm beginning to doubt your words, Dean,' I snapped.

'Keep searching, we're getting close to finding her' he says and went to the darkest part of my mind. Why do I feel like he's hiding something from me?

Others might frown upon my urgent need to find my mate, but my pack members understand me better than anyone else, especially my Beta, Austin because he was there with me when everything happened. He witnessed how I lost everything and everyone I loved dearly. How I became a shell of myself, I was broken thinking I'm all alone in this world, but Austin proved me wrong. He made me see what I had in front of me, my pack members, and their future Luna.

Even if I feel it would be better not to live, I'll have to for revenge. That's the only thing keeping me going.

"Alpha!" Austin yells, snapping me out of the stupor that tries to shroud me. He must have sensed my rage as usual.

Realizing that I'd stopped walking, I gave him a grateful look and began walking again. Our car rolled up when we arrived outside, I got into the car and let Austin drive us home.

The moment we arrived home, Aunt Mae comes running down. Her dark long hair cascaded down her back as she descended the stairs. Aunt Mae is still as pretty as ever, though she's forty, she doesn't look like it.

Like me, she also lost everyone. She's got over her loss quicker than everyone else, or maybe she hides her grief better than us, who knows? It's still a surprise that she didn't lose it when her mate died. Most mated wolves wouldn't be able to bear it, they'll either turn rogue or be far too gone that we'll have to kill them. After the war with the hunters, she took it upon herself to be the 'acting Luna' until I find my mate, as she put it.

I appreciate her for that because she helped the pack in ways I couldn't have, she provided and sympathize with the ones that needed it and that's why everyone calls her aunt Mae. Because of her support, my pack is one of the biggest packs in the U.S. As the saying goes, a pack without a Luna isn't completed.

"Look at you, you're as handsome as ever, Preston."

I rolled my eyes, she's the only one who calls me that, even when I've told her to call me Kade several times.

"You don't look bad yourself. How are you doing, Aunt Mae?"

"Pfft, I'm fine, and I know I look good, you don't have to tell me. So, any progress in finding your mate?"

I let out a sigh and walk to the wine bar, "None yet."

Her eyes beamed with a familiar glint that shows she has a plan. Like the drama queen she is, she glanced down at her nails and huffed, "Well, I might have a solution for that..."

Must be the surprise Austin talked about, I feigned ignorance and raised a brow, "A solution? Tell me about it."

"Nope, it's a surprise, which you'll find out in two days. I only need to lend your time and presence, plus your house."

I glanced at Austin for help, but he shrugs and turns on his heels saying he needs to go to his mate.

"Will this surprise of yours end up with me defending our pack against angry Alphas?"

She glared at me, "Preston! That was a one-time mistake, it doesn't mean it'll happen again!"

Yeah, right.

I absentmindedly agreed to her request as my phone rang.

"Alpha, Mr Turner just called and will like to meet up with you now. He said, even if it's for fifteen minutes." Says Austin on the phone.

I groaned, "Meet him at where?"

"Club X."

"Fine, tell him to wait. I'll be there soon."

After hanging up, I met Aunt Mae's gaze and gave her an apologetic look.

"It's okay, I know you are busy, but you must spare time for the surprise I have for you. Don't forget, it will be in two days.”

I nodded leaving the house, "Will be there."

Austin was already in the car waiting for me as I walked out, I got into the back seat before he started driving to the club.
