"Regret this? Regret marrying to the Quinn family?" Micah scoffed like she had just told a lie. "I don't think so," he said with a smirk on his face.
"Oh, boo, don't listen to her; she must be crazy," Zara chimed in."Crazy? You are calling me crazy? I am the crazy one here?" She said, looking around, hoping that the people around her would help her judge the matter."Both of you are shamelessly out here cheating on me, and you think I am the crazy one? In what world are you the sane ones?" She did not even know she had those kinds of words brewing on the insides of her."If you know he is cheating on you, as you said, why don't you let him be?" Zara asked, air-quoting the word cheating. "Moreover, if you were never in a relationship, why would it be cheating?""Did he say that?" Elara asked, quietly dropping the plate in her hand to the table and cleaning off the soup residue that had stuck to her hand on the napkin. "Did he tell you that we were not in a relationship?""Well, he did not say anything about being in a relationship so... " Zara trailed off.It seemed as if Elara was just hearing it for the first time, but Zara had one of those high-pitched tones that made the ears bleed. Looking at her from head to toe, she had brand names on her. She was giving off the vibe of being a wealthy family heiress, unlike her.She had glammed up, but she was dressed in what her money could afford. Since she left home to try and make a name for herself, she refused help from her family and wanted to stand on her own. It was tough, however, for her because Micah had insisted that she did not work to earn her own money to be a good girl and do his bidding. Now that she cast her mind back on the situation, she was realizing just how much it had crippled her from doing anything. She was barely able to scrape anything from what he was constantly left for the housekeeping to get her hair, nails, and makeup done. She pulled out an old dress that he had gotten for her for her birthday a few years ago. She knew very well that it was outdated, but she had no choice; this was the best she could get to looking fine.
"Of course he did not," she said, feeling like the scales that had plagued her eyes suddenly fell down, and now she could see clearly. She wondered why she thought that Micah loved her; she wondered a lot of things as the thought ran through her mind, leaving her confused.
"You did not think that a rising star like Micah, who has so much potential, would be tied down by someone like you," Zara said. Her smile was the most annoying thing that Elara had seen. "I mean, if you love him as much as you claim that you do, then there should be no issues in letting him go," she added.
"Why should I be the one to let him go? We have been together for three years, and you just snuck into his life just a few months ago, so why should I be the one to let go? You are the imposter here, and you should be the one to..."
Writing this has been an emotional journey and I would not lie that I may or may not have gotten sidetracked while I was writing this book and had gotten invested in the story line of the supporting characters and went all in, giving them so much life. When I began writing this, the only thing I wanted to do was write realistic, selfish characters who were madly in love and I wonder if I actually achieved that or if it is all in my mind. I really want to appreciate everyone who has supported this book this far. All of the comments and reviews (even though i wish I would have been able to get a bit more)The gems too from- Kathleen- Jeanne Gentile- jj0426001- Cia- Sarah H- Michelle bart- Cristina SalazarThank you so much for supporting my book with all of your hard-earned money; it means too much to me that I am even able to bring my words together to thank you.I can't believe how much this book went on and how I was able to write it to the end without losing my trail of thou
"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy," Elara groaned as her children jumped up and down on the bed. She wondered why she had been eager to have children when all they had in the morning was energy, and all she wanted to do was sleep in all morning, even though she had to be at work."Mommy, the children want you up," Ezra said, tapping her head gently and then bending to plant a kiss on it."Ewww!" the children exclaimed, causing both of them to laugh."Eww!?" Elara asked as she puckered her lips for Ezra, who, in turn, kissed them. "You think Daddy and Mommy are gross?" she asked, and they both nodded, trying to cover their faces with their little hands."How on earth can you think Daddy and Mommy are gross?" Ezra asked, taking hold of one of them and tickling her in the belly. Elara watched the scene with her head still on the pillow but slightly elevated. They had argued so much while she was pregnant about the gender of the child that they had both gotten so happy when the doctor told them it was
Noelle was sitting in the garden outside since, after getting married to Ronan, she had tried all of the things she thought she would be good at and could end up as a business for her, but it turned out that she was not really a good businesswoman in the end. She looked down at her laptop that had been taunting her for the past hour with the cursor blinking rapidly in her face. She heard that writers made a bank of money and now she suddenly wanted to be a writer, but she did not even know what she was supposed to write. Her brain was devoid of all emotions. She heard the gate open but did not think too much of it; the housekeeper had told her that she was going grocery shopping; maybe she was back with the things. She had promised she was not going to move an inch until she had successfully completed at least a chapter from the book, but she had no idea where to start. She continued staring at the black page in front of her. She had been so confident in her ability to do whatever she
"You know, for someone who said she was at the verge of death, I have to say that you really stayed a long time," Marcus said to Mrs Smith as they sat down to dinner."Marcus, not in front of the kids," Isla said with a frown on her face to her husband. He shrugged as if he did not understand what she was saying and glanced at both children as they munched happily on their meals. It was almost as if they didn't hear or understand what was going on. Or maybe they were already so used to hearing things like that that it no longer moved them as it should."What did I say?" he asked with a shrug."You know you shouldn't be saying that to your mother in front of the kids. We've talkedut it," Isla replied, and he nodded."I said what I felt like saying; was anything so wrong with that?" Mrs Smith asked and then shook her head. "I guess seeing you build a wonderful family for yourself caused me to stay longer," she said as she pushed the fork laced with chicken into her mouth."Yeah, sure,"
"We are going to be late.""Late, what do you mean? Aren't we flying private?" Clara came out of the closet with two hats in hand. One with a big-rimmed straw hat and the other a velvet-looking straw hat."We are, but there are still protocols to follow concerning such things," Elliot replied, falling to the bed as his wife moved through the room to the mirror. She began trying on the hats. He had let her know that they were going on a trip for three weeks before, but it was not until the morning they were set to travel that she set out her box to begin packing."We are flying private; I doubt the plane would leave without us," she said with a smile as she threw both hats into one of the open boxes on the floor. "By the way, are you sure that you do not want to pack anything more? I am giving you the opportunity to do so now," she added as if she had properly orchestrated the entire thing to make sure that he got all he needed."I am sure of it," he said with a nod."Suit yourself," s
SIX YEARS LATERZara had only agreed to her mother's words because her son was constantly asking about his father. She did not want to be one of those moms who wanted to protect their sanity by all means and then they go ahead and lie about the father and everything comes crashing down years later. She let out a deep breath and looked ahead. She had only come to see Micah in jail once since he had been put in there, and this time she was with his son. He was six years old, and his questions were growing; the only way she could save herself from whatever it was that was impending was to face it squarely now."Now, honey, I want you to know that he is not a bad person; he was just caught in a web of bad things." His first impression of his father had to be good; she would not be able to live with herself if it was otherwise. "Do you understand what I am saying?" she asked, and the little boy nodded."And when you see him, you can smile and hug him a bit too," Zara added. She did not kno
