Elara held her cheek as the words she had been saying were now lost in her throat; she could not believe that she had been slapped across the face by Micah's mistress. The two of them stood there, Zara's chest rising and falling in annoyance as she balled her hands into a fist by her side.
"Imposter? Who are you calling an imposter?" She screamed at her. The entire restaurant was now fully focused on them. The couples who were there on dates would probably think that the show before it was more enticing than their date.
"I guess you must really be an imposter," Elara replied. She had always been a confident girl, but meeting Micah had done something to her and made her believe that for her to be accepted, she needed to be sevirle and submissive to everyone, and everything around her meant that she had forgotten the training that her father had given her.
"Do not call me that," Zara said through gritted teeth.
"Why should I?" What else am I going to call you? You are here claiming to be Quinn's family daughter, and you expect us all to believe that?"
"I am really the daughter of the Quinn family."
"Okay, and you are also stealing my husband."
"Husband?" Micah mocked. "Since when did we get our relationship legalized by law?" he asked, and she shook her head at him. "And how dare you call Zara an imposter? We met a few months ago and fell in love, and I only got to know about her status a few days ago, so I am not marrying her just because of her money and family status," he said, licking his lips.
She wanted to scream at him and ask him who he expected to buy that lie. She could see right through him that all he cared about was climbing up the business ladder; she had believed that he would do it, but seeing how he was acting now, she was sure he would fail before he got a chance to shine.
"I am marrying her because I love her," he said, wrapping his hands around her waist and pulling her to himself. "She is my dream woman."
"You know what? I am not even angry that you cheated on me," she pressed her lips together and opened her eyes. "Wait no," she said suddenly in a different tone from before. "I am definitely angry that you cheated on me, but you know what makes me angrier?" she said, taking a step toward them.
"That you are a loser?" Zara said and let out a chuckle.
"I am even angrier that you are so proud of your misdeeds," Elara said. She took off the fake diamond ring that he had given her and threw it in his face. She took off the earrings and necklace and stripped herself of all the jewellery on her and threw it to the floor.
"I am the one breaking up with you, Micah, and I hope that for the rest of your life, you think about this day and sit in deep regret about it," she said before walking out of the restaurant without turning back.
Writing this has been an emotional journey and I would not lie that I may or may not have gotten sidetracked while I was writing this book and had gotten invested in the story line of the supporting characters and went all in, giving them so much life. When I began writing this, the only thing I wanted to do was write realistic, selfish characters who were madly in love and I wonder if I actually achieved that or if it is all in my mind. I really want to appreciate everyone who has supported this book this far. All of the comments and reviews (even though i wish I would have been able to get a bit more)The gems too from- Kathleen- Jeanne Gentile- jj0426001- Cia- Sarah H- Michelle bart- Cristina SalazarThank you so much for supporting my book with all of your hard-earned money; it means too much to me that I am even able to bring my words together to thank you.I can't believe how much this book went on and how I was able to write it to the end without losing my trail of thou
"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy," Elara groaned as her children jumped up and down on the bed. She wondered why she had been eager to have children when all they had in the morning was energy, and all she wanted to do was sleep in all morning, even though she had to be at work."Mommy, the children want you up," Ezra said, tapping her head gently and then bending to plant a kiss on it."Ewww!" the children exclaimed, causing both of them to laugh."Eww!?" Elara asked as she puckered her lips for Ezra, who, in turn, kissed them. "You think Daddy and Mommy are gross?" she asked, and they both nodded, trying to cover their faces with their little hands."How on earth can you think Daddy and Mommy are gross?" Ezra asked, taking hold of one of them and tickling her in the belly. Elara watched the scene with her head still on the pillow but slightly elevated. They had argued so much while she was pregnant about the gender of the child that they had both gotten so happy when the doctor told them it was
Noelle was sitting in the garden outside since, after getting married to Ronan, she had tried all of the things she thought she would be good at and could end up as a business for her, but it turned out that she was not really a good businesswoman in the end. She looked down at her laptop that had been taunting her for the past hour with the cursor blinking rapidly in her face. She heard that writers made a bank of money and now she suddenly wanted to be a writer, but she did not even know what she was supposed to write. Her brain was devoid of all emotions. She heard the gate open but did not think too much of it; the housekeeper had told her that she was going grocery shopping; maybe she was back with the things. She had promised she was not going to move an inch until she had successfully completed at least a chapter from the book, but she had no idea where to start. She continued staring at the black page in front of her. She had been so confident in her ability to do whatever she
"You know, for someone who said she was at the verge of death, I have to say that you really stayed a long time," Marcus said to Mrs Smith as they sat down to dinner."Marcus, not in front of the kids," Isla said with a frown on her face to her husband. He shrugged as if he did not understand what she was saying and glanced at both children as they munched happily on their meals. It was almost as if they didn't hear or understand what was going on. Or maybe they were already so used to hearing things like that that it no longer moved them as it should."What did I say?" he asked with a shrug."You know you shouldn't be saying that to your mother in front of the kids. We've talkedut it," Isla replied, and he nodded."I said what I felt like saying; was anything so wrong with that?" Mrs Smith asked and then shook her head. "I guess seeing you build a wonderful family for yourself caused me to stay longer," she said as she pushed the fork laced with chicken into her mouth."Yeah, sure,"
"We are going to be late.""Late, what do you mean? Aren't we flying private?" Clara came out of the closet with two hats in hand. One with a big-rimmed straw hat and the other a velvet-looking straw hat."We are, but there are still protocols to follow concerning such things," Elliot replied, falling to the bed as his wife moved through the room to the mirror. She began trying on the hats. He had let her know that they were going on a trip for three weeks before, but it was not until the morning they were set to travel that she set out her box to begin packing."We are flying private; I doubt the plane would leave without us," she said with a smile as she threw both hats into one of the open boxes on the floor. "By the way, are you sure that you do not want to pack anything more? I am giving you the opportunity to do so now," she added as if she had properly orchestrated the entire thing to make sure that he got all he needed."I am sure of it," he said with a nod."Suit yourself," s
SIX YEARS LATERZara had only agreed to her mother's words because her son was constantly asking about his father. She did not want to be one of those moms who wanted to protect their sanity by all means and then they go ahead and lie about the father and everything comes crashing down years later. She let out a deep breath and looked ahead. She had only come to see Micah in jail once since he had been put in there, and this time she was with his son. He was six years old, and his questions were growing; the only way she could save herself from whatever it was that was impending was to face it squarely now."Now, honey, I want you to know that he is not a bad person; he was just caught in a web of bad things." His first impression of his father had to be good; she would not be able to live with herself if it was otherwise. "Do you understand what I am saying?" she asked, and the little boy nodded."And when you see him, you can smile and hug him a bit too," Zara added. She did not kno
