FAZER LOGINISADORA’S POV
I opened my eyes at dawn and felt the cold sheet beside me where Rafael was supposed to be sleeping.
It all started when I was so angry after Valentina stood on that stage in Madrid and told everyone about the joint takeover of my family estate. Then immediately after the gala night, I drove straight to Rafael’s penthouse apartment without waiting for him to explain anything at the gala. I let myself inside the big door using my old code, and I stood in the middle of his sitting room waiting for him to arrive.
When Rafael walked inside the apartment and closed the door, I did not waste any time at all as I confronted him immediately.
"Give me the private keys to my family estate right now," I said, stepping directly into his path as my hands shook with anger.
Rafael pulled off his black suit jacket and threw it onto the couch. "I am not giving you any keys tonight, Isadora," he said, stepping toward me as my breath hitched in my throat.
"You lied to me again," I said, pointing my finger at his chest as my body trembled with pain. "You let Valentina stand on that stage and embarrass me in front of all those rich people."
Rafael caught my hand in the air and held it tight as he looked at me. "Valentina is playing games because she wants to separate us," he said, pulling me closer as my heart beat fast in my chest.
"Then give me the keys so I can protect my company myself," I said, trying to pull my hand back as my teeth gritted together.
"I will not let you walk into this fight alone," Rafael said, his voice rising as he stepped even closer to me.
I pushed his chest with my two hands with all my strength because I wanted him to back away from me. "You never trusted me," I shouted, feeling tears of anger gather behind my eyes. "You treat me like a child while you make deals with your ex-fiancée behind my back."
Rafael did not back away at all, but instead, he grabbed both of my wrists in one handy moved fast and backed me all the way across the room until my back hit the big glass window at the far end.
He raised my arms above my head and pinned them against the glass, using his broad chest to trap my body so I could not move anywhere.
"Why did you never fight for our marriage?" Rafael asked, his face very close to mine as his chest moved up and down fast. "Why did you just walk away from me two years ago without asking questions?"
"You forced me to leave," I whispered, looking straight into his dark eyes as my knees grew weak under his heavy frame.
"You made me feel like I was nothing to you."
"I loved you every single day you were gone," Rafael said softly, lowering his face until his lips brushed against my ear as my skin grew hot. "I stayed away because I thought I was protecting you from my enemies, but you gave up on us so easily."
Immediately he said that, I felt uneasy and I realized how much time we had wasted holding onto anger and old pain. Standing there with his body pressed against mine, I saw the truth in his eyes, and I knew that I could not keep pretending to hate him anymore.
The deep need to be close to him overwhelmed every fear inside my mind.
I moved my hands down when his grip loosened, and I grabbed his black tie with both hands as I pulled his face down to mine and kissed his lips with all the passion and hunger I had been hiding for years.
"Show me you mean it," I whispered against his mouth, tugging his tie lower as my heart leaped inside my chest.
Rafael let out a deep breath against my mouth and wrapped his arms around my waist, lifting me off the floor as he kissed me back with wild power.
All the anger and fighting from the past years melted into pure fire between us as we moved toward the bedroom and he laid me down on the big bed and hovered over me, looking down at my face with so much tenderness that my breath stopped in my chest.
He undressed me slowly, kissing every inch of my skin until my whole body was shaking with intense desire.
I pulled him down to me, wrapping my legs around his hips and bringing his chest tight against mine so there was no space left between us.
We made love for a long time in the dark room, holding each other tight and breathing together like two people who had finally found their way back home.
Every touch of his hand was gentle and deep, erasing all the pain of Valentina's words and the trouble with my father. He held my face in his hands and whispered my name again and again, kissing my lips every time I made a sound. I held onto his shoulders with all my strength, giving myself to him completely without holding anything back.
When we were finally finished, Rafael pulled me onto his chest and wrapped the soft blanket over us.
I laid my head on his chest, listening to his steady heart beat under my ear until I fell fast asleep.
When I woke up at dawn, the sky outside the window was turning grey, and the room was quiet.
I reached my hand across the bed to touch Rafael, but his side of the mattress was completely cold and empty.
I sat up on the bed immediately, wrapping the sheet around my chest as my stomach twisted in a knot. I looked around the empty bedroom, but his phone was lying on the small side table near my head and I wondered where he left me to go.
The screen of his phone came up suddenly with a new message that came through.
I leaned over and picked up his phone to look at the screen.
Behold! It was a text message from Valentina that read: Thank you for coming back to my bed last night while Isadora was sleeping; our deal for the Fenwick estate is now complete.
ISADORA’S POVRafael grabbed my waist on the dark balcony and kissed me until my legs could not hold my weight anymore. We fell asleep holding each other tight, ready to face the war that was coming the next day. When I woke up at six o'clock in the morning, the bright sunlight was coming through the big window, and the room was very quiet.I turned my head to look for Rafael, but his side of the bed was empty, and his shoes were gone from the floor.I sat up on the bed quickly, wrapping the sheet around my body as fear returned to my chest and I stood up and walked toward the bathroom, but the door was wide open, and nobody was inside.I walked over to the small wooden table near the door, and I saw a white paper lying right beside my purse.I picked up the white paper with my shaking hands and read the words written in big black ink.It was a handwritten note from my sister Rosalind.I stepped out of our car outside the big auction house in Marbella. Valentina had invited all the r
ISADORA’S POVRafael stood in front of me with his mouth completely shut, refusing to tell me the truth about the secret contract that gave my sister power over his life.I looked at the small gold ring sitting in my open palm, and the deep pain in my chest turned into hot anger as I stepped toward the big window and threw the ring out into the darkness with all the strength in my right arm. The small gold band vanished into the night, and my heart felt like it was breaking into a thousand small pieces. I turned back to face Rafael, wiping my wet face with the back of my hand so he would not see me cry anymore."You are a coward, Rafael," I said, pointing my finger at his pale face as my legs trembled under my weight.Rafael then took a fast step toward me and grabbed both of my hands in his warm palms. "I am not a coward, Isadora," he said, holding my fingers tight while his eyes filled with tears. "I am keeping quiet because I am trying to save your life and your family from total
ISADORA’S POv"You think that simple gold ring on your finger makes you a real wife, Isadora?" Rosalind spat, as she clapped her hands together with a dry laugh that sent cold fear straight down my spine.I pulled my hand back slowly against my stomach, and my skin felt ice cold while my sister took two heavy steps closer to where I sat."I sold those shares to Valentina because you deserve to lose every single thing you own," Rosalind said, as she pointed her fingers straight at my me while her eyes burned with dark hatred."You have always been weak and stupid, and you think Rafael truly wants you for who you are," she continued, and she looked down at my face with total disgust. My throat closed up tightly, and tears pooled under my eyelids while her cruel words tore through my remaining confidence.I looked up at Rafael because I wanted him to step in and shut her mouth, but he stood completely still beside the bed with his hands clenched into tight fists."Get out of our room rig
ISADORA’S POVMy father Peter stood in the middle of the big room with a wide smile on his face as he held the signed paper high in the air and looked at Rafael and me like he had won a grand prize. Valentina stepped closer to Rafael with her head held up, expecting him to smile and accept the deal she made with my sister."Now we own this estate together, Rafael," Valentina said, taking a step toward him as my stomach turned upside down with fear.Rafael did not look at the paper in my father's hand, and he did not smile at Valentina at all either. He took my hand, stepped forward, and placed himself between Valentina and me."I will never do any business with you, Valentina," Rafael said, looking directly into her eyes as my chest expanded with sudden relief.Valentina stopped moving, and the smile on her face disappeared completely."What are you talking about, Rafael?" she asked, reaching out her hand to touch his arm as my mouth grew dry. "I did this for us so we can control eve
ISADORA’S POVThe text message from Valentina showed a photo of Rafael sleeping in her bed while I was lying alone in his apartment.I dropped his phone onto the mattress because my hands were shaking so much, and I could not breathe properly. My mind was spinning with terrible thoughts as I looked at the dark screen lying on the sheets. I gave him my body and my heart last night, but he still went back to his ex-fiancée the moment I closed my eyes. So much pain cut through my chest so deep that I had to sit on the floor for a few minutes just to hold my knees together.I told myself that I would not stay in his house to cry like a weak person. I stood up immediately, put on my clothes quickly, and grabbed my small bag from the table as I left his apartment without making any noise, and I entered my car to drive down to our family estate in Segovia. The rain was falling heavily from the sky, washing over my front glass as I drove fast on the dark road with my eyes full of tears, but
