LOGINISADORA’S POV
Rafael stood in front of me with his mouth completely shut, refusing to tell me the truth about the secret contract that gave my sister power over his life.
I looked at the small gold ring sitting in my open palm, and the deep pain in my chest turned into hot anger as I stepped toward the big window and threw the ring out into the darkness with all the strength in my right arm.
The small gold band vanished into the night, and my heart felt like it was breaking into a thousand small pieces. I turned back to face Rafael, wiping my wet face with the back of my hand so he would not see me cry anymore.
"You are a coward, Rafael," I said, pointing my finger at his pale face as my legs trembled under my weight.
Rafael then took a fast step toward me and grabbed both of my hands in his warm palms. "I am not a coward, Isadora," he said, holding my fingers tight while his eyes filled with tears. "I am keeping quiet because I am trying to save your life and your family from total ruin."
I pulled my hands out of his grip with all my strength and took three steps backward away from him. "Stop lying to me!" I shouted, feeling my throat burn with deep pain. "You let Rosalind insult me like a dog in this room, and you stood there like a statue because you were afraid of her."
"You do not understand what is happening here," Rafael said with his voice breaking as he stepped toward me again. "Five years ago, your father Peter and Rosalind set a trap for me before I married you."
I stopped moving and looked at his face, my breath catching in my throat as my mind tried to understand his words.
"What kind of trap?" I asked softly, rubbing my cold arms with my hands.
"They made me sign a document that said I took fifty million dollars from your family trust fund without permission," Rafael whispered, dropping his head down as his shoulders shook. "If that document goes to the court judge, I will go to prison for twenty years, and your family trust will become completely bankrupt."
My mouth opened in total shock, and my stomach twisted into a tight knot as the reality of his words hit my chest and I realized that my own twin sister and my father had planned this evil move many years ago, just to hold Rafael in their hands like a puppet.
They knew he loved our family land, so they used that contract to control every single decision he made in his life.
"Why did you sign such a terrible paper?" I asked, taking a step closer to him as my tears started falling again.
"I signed it because your father promised to use that fifty million dollars to pay for your heart surgery when you were sick in the hospital," Rafael said, looking directly into my eyes with raw pain. "I sacrificed my whole life and my name just so you could live, Isadora."
Immediately he said that, his words hit my heart like a heavy stone, and my whole body went completely weak in front of him.
All these years I thought Rafael was a greedy man who only cared about money and power, but he had been carrying this heavy cross on his back just to keep me alive.
He let me hate him, he let my sister insult him, and he took all the pain alone without saying a single word to defend himself.
"You did that for me?" I whispered, my voice shaking as I reached out to touch his wet cheek with my hand.
"I would do it a thousand times again just to see you breathe," Rafael said, wrapping his strong arms around my waist and pulling my body flush against his chest.
I buried my face in his wet shirt and cried deeply, wrapping my arms around his broad back as all my anger melted away into pure love. I held onto him tight, feeling his heart beating fast against my ribs while his chin rested on top of my head.
We stayed like that in the middle of the room for a long time, holding each other close while the cool wind blew through the open door.
"We have to fight them together now," I said, pulling back slightly to look into his dark eyes. "I will not let Rosalind and Peter use my life to destroy you anymore."
Rafael looked down at my face with a small, soft smile, using his thumbs to wipe the tears off my cheeks. "You are the strongest woman I have ever known, Isadora," Rafael said, kissing my forehead with deep tenderness. "Starting tonight, we are going to find that original contract and burn it to ashes."
We sat down on the edge of the large bed, holding hands tightly while we planned how to outsmart my sister and my father.
I felt a new strength inside my chest because I knew the truth now, and I was ready to stand by my husband no matter what came our way. We talked softly for hours, deciding that we would pretend to fight in public so Rosalind would think her plan was working perfectly.
When the clock on the wall showed three o'clock in the morning, Rafael pulled me down onto the soft mattress and wrapped the heavy blanket over our bodies.
I rested my head on his broad chest, listening to his steady breathing while his fingers played gently with my hair. I felt completely safe in his arms, knowing that our love was real and that no secret could ever divide us again.
ISADORA’S POVRafael grabbed my waist on the dark balcony and kissed me until my legs could not hold my weight anymore. We fell asleep holding each other tight, ready to face the war that was coming the next day. When I woke up at six o'clock in the morning, the bright sunlight was coming through the big window, and the room was very quiet.I turned my head to look for Rafael, but his side of the bed was empty, and his shoes were gone from the floor.I sat up on the bed quickly, wrapping the sheet around my body as fear returned to my chest and I stood up and walked toward the bathroom, but the door was wide open, and nobody was inside.I walked over to the small wooden table near the door, and I saw a white paper lying right beside my purse.I picked up the white paper with my shaking hands and read the words written in big black ink.It was a handwritten note from my sister Rosalind.I stepped out of our car outside the big auction house in Marbella. Valentina had invited all the r

ISADORA’S POv"You think that simple gold ring on your finger makes you a real wife, Isadora?" Rosalind spat, as she clapped her hands together with a dry laugh that sent cold fear straight down my spine.I pulled my hand back slowly against my stomach, and my skin felt ice cold while my sister took two heavy steps closer to where I sat."I sold those shares to Valentina because you deserve to lose every single thing you own," Rosalind said, as she pointed her fingers straight at my me while her eyes burned with dark hatred."You have always been weak and stupid, and you think Rafael truly wants you for who you are," she continued, and she looked down at my face with total disgust. My throat closed up tightly, and tears pooled under my eyelids while her cruel words tore through my remaining confidence.I looked up at Rafael because I wanted him to step in and shut her mouth, but he stood completely still beside the bed with his hands clenched into tight fists."Get out of our room rig
ISADORA’S POVMy father Peter stood in the middle of the big room with a wide smile on his face as he held the signed paper high in the air and looked at Rafael and me like he had won a grand prize. Valentina stepped closer to Rafael with her head held up, expecting him to smile and accept the deal she made with my sister."Now we own this estate together, Rafael," Valentina said, taking a step toward him as my stomach turned upside down with fear.Rafael did not look at the paper in my father's hand, and he did not smile at Valentina at all either. He took my hand, stepped forward, and placed himself between Valentina and me."I will never do any business with you, Valentina," Rafael said, looking directly into her eyes as my chest expanded with sudden relief.Valentina stopped moving, and the smile on her face disappeared completely."What are you talking about, Rafael?" she asked, reaching out her hand to touch his arm as my mouth grew dry. "I did this for us so we can control eve
ISADORA’S POVThe text message from Valentina showed a photo of Rafael sleeping in her bed while I was lying alone in his apartment.I dropped his phone onto the mattress because my hands were shaking so much, and I could not breathe properly. My mind was spinning with terrible thoughts as I looked at the dark screen lying on the sheets. I gave him my body and my heart last night, but he still went back to his ex-fiancée the moment I closed my eyes. So much pain cut through my chest so deep that I had to sit on the floor for a few minutes just to hold my knees together.I told myself that I would not stay in his house to cry like a weak person. I stood up immediately, put on my clothes quickly, and grabbed my small bag from the table as I left his apartment without making any noise, and I entered my car to drive down to our family estate in Segovia. The rain was falling heavily from the sky, washing over my front glass as I drove fast on the dark road with my eyes full of tears, but
ISADORA’S POVI opened my eyes at dawn and felt the cold sheet beside me where Rafael was supposed to be sleeping. It all started when I was so angry after Valentina stood on that stage in Madrid and told everyone about the joint takeover of my family estate. Then immediately after the gala night, I drove straight to Rafael’s penthouse apartment without waiting for him to explain anything at the gala. I let myself inside the big door using my old code, and I stood in the middle of his sitting room waiting for him to arrive. When Rafael walked inside the apartment and closed the door, I did not waste any time at all as I confronted him immediately."Give me the private keys to my family estate right now," I said, stepping directly into his path as my hands shook with anger.Rafael pulled off his black suit jacket and threw it onto the couch. "I am not giving you any keys tonight, Isadora," he said, stepping toward me as my breath hitched in my throat."You lied to me again," I said, po
