Eva's POV.

He turned and stared at me.

“I will marry you, Enzo.” I said, “If possible, right away. Can we save Dana and Caleb?”

“Yes. I'll have my guard on it.” He answered, pulling out a document from the suitcase and handing it to me.

“I imagined you wouldn't want to waste anymore time, so I already had our marriage certificate prepared.”

I took it and collected the pen he offered. I read through the certificate bearing our names.

Enzo Hartley and Eva Cole. It already has his signature.

I launched into deep thoughts that were clouded with my brother's bleeding head. Is there anything more important than their safety?

I would lay down my life any day for my brother. Marrying a stranger to aid my revenge should not cause any worry.

With that, I signed the certificate.

“I'll be back in a few hours.” He said to me before he turned to leave but I grabbed his arm.

As if reading my thoughts, he said, ”Don’t worry, I'll save them.”

I let go off his arm slowly, nodding.

As I returned to the cell, I didn't know whether to be happy or not. It was truly a victory to leave this hellhole.

I have suffered from constant bullying, inadequate food and water, and worse, constant beating from the warden on no account.

That has been my life since I got here. I suppose I should be excited to finally leave this place and even more excited, having to step back into the life of the Hales.

“Where have you been, bitch?!” The voice of Bianca filtered through my ears.

She walked towards me with her cohorts trailing behind her. She was twice or even thrice my size and it earned her title as Queen of the Jungle.

She stopped at nothing in making my life and that of others miserable.

“Want me to repeat myself, huh?” She spat as she stopped in front of me.

“I had a visitor.” I answered, not daring to meet her gaze.

Still, she raised her hand and hit me across the face, followed by a kick to the chest.

I fell to the ground, holding my chest in pain.

Two of the girls behind her came and pulled me up by my hair.

I gritted my teeth, swearing revenge once I'm out of here.

“Haven’t I told you that when I need you, I don't fucking give a damn about your stupid visitor?!”

She grabbed my jaw roughly, “You’re here to tend to my needs, bitch, and each time you disobey you know what's coming.”

I gulped.

They tossed me to the corner of the cell, hitting and kicking me all over. I shielded my head with my hands, eyes shut, praying for it to be over.

Suddenly, Bianca pounced on me forcefully, sending the air out of my lungs. I stopped moving, unable to, but I could hear the voices, the taunts and laughter.

They tossed a bucket and scrub at me.

“Get the toilet cleaned up, bitch.” Bianca ordered, leaving the cell with her girls.

I cried where I lay, teeth jammed together. The Hales put me in this humiliation, they signed my death warrant casting me into the den of lions where I didn't belong.

I knew what awaited me if I didn't get the toilet cleaned as instructed. Besides, I didn't know when Enzo would come to get me out. I still thought it impossible but I didn't give the thought room to air in my mind.

Staggering and holding my side, I picked up the steel bucket and scrub and headed for the toilet.

It was a bizarre sight. I covered my mouth, in a bid to stop myself from pucking. As I began to scrub the stained floors, i instinctively remembered how Damien and I had played romantically under the waterfalls.

It was one of the best moments of my life. However, shortly after, he hurled painful words at me, believing his mom over me.

He never sought to know the truth and since that day, I never saw him again. He never came to visit, he forgot me like I was that easy to forget.

I scrubbed hard at the floor, vesting my anger and pain.

What has he been up to in the past three years? Could he possible be married?

I shook my head. Damien might have hurt me and betrayed my trust, but he would never break his promise.

That day, under the waterfalls, he had promised me that I'm the only woman who mattered to him and only one he'd marry.

“What if I disappear for years?” I'd said jokingly.

He pulled me close and kissed me. “I'll wait for you, Eva. I won't marry anyone else.”

Once I get my revenge and prove to him that I never committed the crime, he would realize his mistake.

And maybe come back to me…a small voice whispered.

I wiped my brows, done with the cleaning. Just as I stepped out with the bucket of water and brush in hand, I saw the constable walking through the hallway.

The Constable never comes. If he does, it was probably on a duty he could not assign to another officer. The warden walked closely beside him.

I mopped the entrance of the toilet just as I decided that the Constable's presence was none of my business.

When they stopped in front of me, I thought I was about to be subject to another inhumane treatment but he handed me a clean bag.

“Follow the warden, take a quick bath and get changed.” He paused and added, “You've been granted amnesty.”

The whole cell block was thrown into thick chaos. While some celebrated me, others felt jealous.

Bianca and her girls at the end of the hall stood in a daze.

I took the bag from him, still in a daze. Enzo really got me out. My nightmares have ended and my dreams are about to come through.

“Hurry.” The warden said before leaving with the Constable.

I didn't follow him until I did one thing.

I grabbed the bucket and began to walk towards Bianca. In the blink of an eye, I threw the dirty toilet water over her body.

“Fuck you, bitch!”

Margaret Hale rushed into the dimly lit room, shutting the door hastily behind her. She stopped before the middle-aged man, whose back was to her as he lit a cigarette.“How could you show your face here, Michael?!” She shrieked, the veins clearly visible on her forehead. “Didn't we agree never to cross paths again?”Michael turned round and came face-to-face with Margaret. “After so many years, this is the first thing you say to me?”“Quit it, Michael. You know we were never supposed to see each other again.”Michael chuckled. “We did agree never to see each other again, but your son did not.”Margaret's eyes widened. “What are you talking about?”“There's no one else here, Margaret. No need to play dumb.” Michael replied as he drew in another huff of smoke.“Damien is my only son.” She said firmly.“I did try to tell you this years ago, Margaret, but you constantly rejected my every means to reach you.”“We agreed never to cross paths.” She repeated. “Why would you try to reach me a
