Gaius left. The door clicked shut. And the room became a world of its own.

I sat on the edge of the bed, still holding Lucian's hand. His skin was hot. Too hot. The fever had been climbing all day, and no amount of cool cloths could bring it down. His chest barely moved now. Each breath was a battle.
