The attack

“I am going to crush that kid!” alpha London bellowed angrily, he just got a report from the rogues he hired about Jake and his human mate, his pack members were taking about. The rogue even brought him pictures of the girl and London recognize her immediately. He hated she was with Jake, she was his mate!

It confused his beta to find him like that with his office upside down. “What is the matter alpha?” London glared at him. “We attack the Crescent Moon tonight and we are taking the kid’s mate” Shane was shocked, they have a plan and now he was changing it. What was with taking Jake’s mate?

Shane did not agree with that at all, Jake’s mate was innocent and has nothing to do with any of this. Why take her? “I will get the warriors ready, why are we taking his mate?” London growled at him dangerously making Shane take steps back. “You are never to question me ever again; do as I say!” Shane bowed. “Yes, alpha.” London gave him a warning growl. “Leave!” without saying another word Shane left.

Werewolves can never disobey their alpha, it was the same with Shane; he did not like what his alpha was doing, but he had no choice but to do as he was ordered. Did London think they will lose the battle, is that why he wants to take Jake’s mate to make him submit? Shane wondered as he left the office to carryout his alpha’s orders.

Back at the Crescent Moon Pack, Sandra sat on the long rectangular table with Jake by her side, he did not sit on his usual chair at the head of the table; he wanted to tell Sandra who he was first before he could do normal things around her. She was so nervous that she would only answer whatever question was directed at her or comment whenever Jake brought her into the conversation.

But what she enjoyed was the meal, it was perfectly made and made her wonder if they have a chef cooking for them. Jake placed his hand on her thigh under the table and gave it a little rub, it was the first time having physical contact and Sandra did not know how to feel about it. The sparks that flew when he touched her were just something else, they sent shivers running down her spine making her snap her head to look at him.

She found his eyes already on her; she has a question in her mind and hoped Jake could figure it out. He gave a slight nod, and her eyes widened a bit. She wasn’t sure if he was answering her but when he moved his hand up and down her thigh making the sparks erupt Sandra knew he was answering her unasked question.

He could feel the sparks too, and that made her happy. She gave him a small smile before returning to her meal. “It really good to have you Sandra and I hope you will visit often.” That was Eric, Jakes best friend as she was told. “I will try to, and the food was really nice. Thank you for your hospitality.” Eric smiled.

“Don’t thank me, I did nothing, Jake here is the one who organized all this, I am just happy to be having a good dinner.” Jake glared at his beta making him chuckle. “Don’t talk as if we don’t eat good food every day, especially with you nagging the cooks about meat every day.” Eric laughed. “I never said we don’t eat good food am just saying am happy to eat some again tonight.”

Sandra has noticed that Eric and Chad ate a lot, they were on their third servings already and that made her wonder how they got to keep so fit when they eat so much. “Am glad I could be the excuse for you to eat good food.” Chat the gamma burst out laughing and Jake chuckling by her side.

“Wow! She got you good Eric and I think I am going to enjoy having her around.” Sandra was happy to have made new friends, they seemed like an easy-going bunch and Jake was happy his mate was finally at their home by his side, even though she didn’t know it yet. “I smell smoke, hey Megan, stop burning things in there!” shouted Chad thinking the smoke was coming from the kitchen.

Just then an open mind link came through. “We are under attack, rogues made into the pack lands!” All of them stood up so fast making their chairs fall behind them, Chat and Eric ran out the door. Jake had a frosty expression on his face, he didn’t know why this was happening and now of all times. A warrior came in, Eric told him to come see Jake.

“Look after her and protect her with your life.” He told the warrior. “Yes, alpha.” He then turned to Sandra with an apologetic look in his eyes. “Am sorry about this but please, stay here, I will be right back.” He did not wait for her to respond as he ran out of the packhouse, he thought it was just a few rogues that will be taken care of in a matter of minutes.

But when he got outside, he could not believe his eyes, they turned the front of his pack house into a battleground, rogues everywhere and his warriors were fighting two and some three at the same time. Some were already dead on the ground shifting back to their human forms. Smoke everywhere and was getting thicker and thicker.

Red flames were high coming from the houses destroying everything in their path, it was horrific, Jake did not have enough time to take in the sight before him as he jumped into battle. He was angry and scared at the same time. Angry that the rogues got bold enough to cross his borders and enter his pack lands.

Scared that his mate was here, he wanted to protect her himself but took comfort because he had one of his trusted warriors looking after her, protecting her. Sandra was pacing him the lounge while the warrior was looking out the window, he was itching to go out there and help. But he couldn’t, he was asked to look after the woman; he was not even sure who she was because the time Jake told the others about her; he was asleep after night patrol.

All those warriors did not know about Sandra, but some have heard about her. He, however, was not the talkative type and would hear things on the last minute. When he saw his friend fighting three rogues at the same time, he could not sit and watch anymore. He jumped out the lounge window breaking it and shifting midair. Sandra was horrified as she stood to see why this crazy guy would jump out the window like that.

But what she saw when she looked out made her knees weak. wolves all over the place, smoke everywhere, the battle was brutal, and Sandra was more than traumatized. It was then she noticed that there were no humans out there only wolves fighting. Her hand flew to her mouth covering it trying to not scream.

Unfortunately for her, one rogue saw her and looked around before breaking away from the others and came her way. When Sandra saw the big dirty looking wolf coming her way with its mouth open and saliva dripping at the corners of its mouth. Her knees gave in, she fell on her knees and the last thing she saw before hitting the ground, was the wolf coming in from the broken window looking right at her.

She fainted from shock, and the rogue was pleased because that meant she would not give him trouble. He shifted and picked her up with ease before slipping through the back and running off. They have been scouting the place for weeks and know the ins and outs. That is why he could slip away unnoticed.

Suddenly the rogues started retreating one by one. The warriors and Jake stood there confused at to what was happening. The rogues were running back the way they came; they were so coordinated like they were a pack and that is something Jake picked up. Rogues don’t act that way and they certainly don’t travel in packs. But these did, and that raised Jake's suspicions.

Just as they were looking at that, London appeared just as the last rogue entered the woods. Jakes fists clenched on his side with a hard look on his face. London walked closer with his beta and gamma by his side. He had a smirk on his face. “I should have known you were behind this!” Jake bellowed and he closed the gap between them.

“Yes, you should have, but I don’t blame you for not knowing, your father didn’t know as well, yet he was an old and experienced alpha.” With the mention of his father Jake lost it and threw a punch at London. He laughed rubbing his cheek. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you or I might end up taking my revenge on your little human mate.”

Jakes heart thundered in his chest, he turned to scan the crowd behind him with his eyes looking for the warrior he left with Sandra. He found him and the warrior has a horrified look on his face. He only heard now that Sandra was the alpha’s mate and his Luna. He looked back at Jake helplessly making Jake’s heart go cold.

“This is what will happen, you kid, are going to renounce your title and let me take over your pack as mine. That is if you want to see your mate alive again. Think about it.” London said then smirked. He turned and left the way he came. Jake quickly ran to the pack house to make sure she was gone.

The broken window told him she was, but he still went in with Eric and Chad on his tail. When they got into the lounge, there was no sign of her, but her scent still lingered in the room, there was another scent as well, a rotten one. “No!!!!!” Jake roared loudly making the paintings and pictures on the walls shake as if they were going to fall at any minute.

He was hurting; he was angry but mostly he feared what London might do to his mate.
