“Do you love her still?”
It took a while bago ito sumagot. “I don’t know. I haven’t think of her for quiet some time. I don’t think the feeling is still the same.”
A flicker of discomfort pricked Trisha’s heart. She can’t explain the sudden tightness she felt when she heard his answer. It’s not right, she doesn’t want to dwell on it.
“You’ve been asking yourself why he haven’t said sorry when he betrayed you right? Maybe the reason why the anger returned when he finally said it is that all along you were asking yourself, did I deserve what happened? Don’t I deserve the sorry? I’m not a psychologist pero minsan kasi we asked ourselves kung deserved ba natin ang masaktan. If all along ako pala ‘yong may kasalanan kaya nagkaganito–“
“Shoot!”
“What?” Naguguluhan niyang tanong dito.
“Chlo?” Seryoso nitong tanong but Trisha saw the amusement in his eyes.
She laughed and pinched him again sa tagiliran. “Sira! Loko-loko ka talaga. Ang serious serious ko na dito.”
He chuckled and she really saw the amusement was genuine and she silently congratulated herself for what she did or said.
Bumalik ito sa pagseseryoso and opened another can. “For five years I’ve been asking myself kung naging mabuti ba akong kaibigan sa kanya. I didn’t saw any regrets back then. As though I deserved to be betrayed. But now I saw his eyes full of remorse and I can’t looked at him.”
“Are you happy to hear it somehow…the sorry?”
“I did! Siguro ‘yon ang kulang why I can’t forgave him totally because he haven’t even asked for it.”
“But your other friends did?”
“Yup! And I was an asshole to them. Never even once let them explain.” And he regreted it but he was angry and ashamed so he let himself matured enough before coming back.
She grabbed his hand and squeezed. “Just give it time. Nothing can stop a person who is willing to forgive. I know you wanted to talk to them without awkwardness and as you said you’ve missed them despite what happened. Ngayong andito ka na, open your heart and your mind ‘pag nagkita kayo.”
“Thank you.” He squeezed back and angled his head sideways to look at her. Their eyes met.
Their faces were so near she can see the beauty of his eyes, the valley of his nose, the seductive shape of his lips. She was stunned! She can’t control the rapid beat of her heart. She bit her lower lip to suppress the giddy feeling in her stomach but it only intensified when she saw his eyes dipped down to her lips. Nakita niya ang paggalaw ng adams apple nito when he swallowed before gradually lowering his head…his lips… towards hers.
Closing time, open all the doors
And let you out into the worldClosing time, turn all of the lights onOver every boy and every girl…
Trisha blinked and the moment was ruined by her phone’s ringtone for an incoming call.
She silently took a deep breath to ease her still rapidly beating heart. Nag-excuse siya kay Marsden at sinagot ang phone while she get some cold water in the kitchen and poured it in a glass. It’s her way of avoiding the awkwardess hanging in the air. God! Are we going to kiss?
“Hello? Trish? Are you there?” tanong ng nasa kabilang linya.
“Chlo! I’m so sorry…hi!” Her mind was wandering elsewhere.
“Nagising ba kita best?” pagod na tanong ni Chloe.
“Yup!” pagsisinunghaling niya dito upang takpan ang kanina ay gumagala niyang isipan. “You sounded tired, kakauwi mo lang ba?” pag-aalala niya dito. Lately palagi itong nago-overtime dahil bago ang amo nito.
Narinig niya ang buntong hininga ni Chloe. “Yeah! Pinaparusahan ata ako ni boss eh, napakaworkaholic, damay ako. Huhuhu…gusto ko ng magresign.”
Natawa siya dito. “Anong magagawa mo eh ikaw ang secretary ng daddy niya, siyempre nagsisimula pa siya and you’re the one who knew all the transactions so keep up the good work best.”
Tomorrow we’ll going to the branch in Cebu. I’m his secretary not his personal assistant. Para akong asawa na kahit personal wardrove niya ako ang nag-aasikaso.”
“Eh bakit di mo na lang ecareer. Atleast kahit wala kang lovelife nae-experience mo maging isang wife,” panunukso niya dito.
“Sira! Him? Over my dead body!”
“’Wag kang magsalita ng tapos. Sige ka baka lunukin mo lahat ng sinabi mo.”
“Tseh! Sige na nga goodnight na, ayaw ng bumuka ng mga mata ko. I’m so sleepy, see you next week so cancelled na muna ang dinner date natin tomorrow hah.”
“Okay, night night Chlo.”
“I should go so you can finally sleep.”
She nodded and accompanied him outside.
“Thank you…for everything,” saad ni Marsden nang nasa labas na sila.
“You’re welcome, call me anytime, hmmm… kahit na tulog na ako, Basta ikaw ang tumatawag gising ako,” widening her eyes open.
They both laughed and bid goodnight.

Someone cleared his throat.
Ibinigay nito ang isang kahon ng fresh from the oven macarons.
“Akin? Sino bang amo mo?”
Baka may lason ‘yan or love posion, cge ka,” nangingiti niyang saad dito.
“Oh my God!” Abby stopped eating and hysterically drank the tea.
Tawang-tawa sina Jay at Trisha.
“Itong babaeng ‘to naman kasi, hindi na tuloy natin nalaman kung sino ‘tong secret admirer ni Trisha, ang ganda mo girl!” hinawakan ni Jay ang kanyang buhok, “haba ng hair!” konikilig nitong saad.
She chuckled and assured them wala siyang secret admirer.
Ayaw din niya itong harapin regarding the photo. “Lower your voice piggy.”
Magsasalita na sana si Trisha to defend her friend nang maubo si Abby ng pagkalakas-lakas sa harapan mismo ni Jade. Natatawa si Trisha at Jay dahil within the cough, Abby was saying “bitch, bitch, bitch”. Jade looked like she wanted to throw up at nagmamadaling pumasok sa opisina nito.
Nag-appear sina Jay and Abby at tawang-tawang pumasok sa Accounting Office.
After a while, she raised her head, blew her nose with her handkerchief and looked at him. He wiped a drop of tear upon her lip. “What happened?”“It’s because of me…it’s my fault, I killed an innocent child Mars.”“What are you talking about?”She retold Chelsea’s accusations and it angered him.“Nothing happened that night, I just let him kiss me to show him I don’t feel anything anymore, to have a closure, for him to leave me alone.”“Hey, hey, listen to me,” gently palming her cheeks with both hands. “It’s not your fault, it was an accident.”“I know, yet I’m so afraid…what if karma befell me. I know I shouldn’t because God won’t be that cruel pero kasalanan pa rin ‘yun. She lost her child because of me, because I let Ash kissed me that night. I have the choice to stop it but I didn’t–““And what are you afraid of? That someday it will also happen to you?” Napansin niyang natigilan ito. “We all have our sins Trish and what you think you’ve done is not even your fault at all.
It’s been a week since Trisha heard Chelsea’s reason for hating her and no matter how much she tried to be optimistic and stop herself from feeling guilty, she can’t. Because she was there, and Ash did kissed her and she let him, to show him that she’s not affected anymore, there’s no spark, that things have changed for months of being apart after she transferred to a public school. And also to close their relationship properly, to say goodbye, so Ash would stop those childish acts that forced her to come to him. Chloe was in Davao with her boss and Marsden was in Bacolod to close a big deal. She missed him so badly especially now that she’s feeling down. They talked over the phone yet being together physically is different. She can’t eat properly, she can’t even sleep for fearing of the nightmare that came to her that night after she and Chelsea talked. She woke up crying, feeling the pain of losing someone, her heart cried and ache for someone. Her baby, her own baby. Most
Weeks passed and Marsden and Trisha enjoyed every moment spent with each other. They read books together, do joggings together at the park Marsden usually do joggings. Marsden stayed with her in her apartment, together they went to the office and when Marsden needed to extend his time at work, he always asked Gareth, one of his trusted employees to drive her home using Marsden’s car.Trisha knew her friends noticed the change in their relationship but she always denies it. They both agreed to keep it secret and asked Chloe and Rudy to do the same. In the eyes of the others who knew them both they were just friends. Everyday, waking up with Marsden was like livin
When Trisha woke up the next morning, she felt like someone who had finally woken up from sleeping for years. She just lay there and closed her eyes again to thanks God for this another day. Last night she thought it would be her last or if not, Arnel would definitely left her devastated and surely ruined. She wanted to cry again, not of fear this time but thankful and relieved to have her guardian angels. “Marsden,” she whispered as his face appeared on her consciousness. She can’t stop the blush traveling over her face as she remembered something else that happened last night. Naitakip niya ang mga palad sa mukha as the events played before her eyes. Feeling giddy for the words he’d uttered and guilty, definitely guilty for sleeping on him. When finally she decided to clean up and went down to the kitchen, her stomach growled with the delicious smell coming from there. Trisha thought him gone but she heard his voice singing along with the music on his phone. Nakita niyang b
Jade was calling Arnel for the hundredth time but it’s always out of coverage. She was anxious to know what happened and even excited to hear her enemy’s downfall. A sly grin slowly appeared over her face. Finally, if Trisha get devastated and change her positivity, Jade’s beloved Ash wouldn’t like the bitch anymore, and she will have him for good. Finally! Finally! But the bastard Arnel can’t be reached and it’s disturbing her nerves. She was about to leave and go to the bar where Arnel wasn’t banned when someone knocked on her bedroom door repeatedly. Her dad is in congress and her mom visited her friends. Who could it be? “I’m coming, I’m coming,” aniyang naiinis at padabog na binuksan ang pinto. “A-Ash!” Jade was a little bit shocked to see him and a sudden burst of anxiety dwells in her rapidly beating heart. What if Ash realized what she’d done? But he looked calm, maybe he is here to ask her out. She pasted her sweetest smile. “Hey, come in.” She led him to her sof
“We should terminate the contract to avoid being caught up with his illegal deeds,” Marsden said in anger. “But sir–“ “Your department is the one whose responsibility is to check the credibility of the people we get into contract with. How come, that this problem is here now taunting our patience.” He looked at their eyes one by one. “Don’t make me caught you receiving commissions from our clientele just for their papers to pass the screening.” They just looked down and received his scolding. This is a serious matter. These men are in the company even when his grandfather was still the chairman. He trusted their loyalties but someone is surely having his loyalty bought. “Sir!” bulong ni Hans sa kanya. “Nasa office mo si Trisha at Drew.” Napangiti siya nang marinig ang pangalan ni Trisha pero nagulat siya ng marinig na kasama nito si Drew. Worriedly, he excused himself at pumunta sa kanyang opisina. He saw Drew outside of his office. He was angry and worried while Drew re
