Drake was caught off guard when Adeline slapped him hard on he face. He did not expect her to do that. When Adeline then left after telling him her reasons he had a second thought. 

What if Adeline did really knew nothing 

about the marriage? What if she did not really requested her parents to do such thing? What if she completely know nothing about everything and Drake just judge her without knowing everything. 

He shook his of what he had thought. No! That's completely impossible. He knew that Adeline likes him for a longer time now. It's not impossible that she planned every thing. She must have requested to her parents to marry him in exchange for the help that they will give. She took the opportunity to grab him in the neck.
