Chapter 1
The year 1893The sun shone down brightly on the land of Nalish, drying the muddy ground and roads where carriages of the Elite rode.Although the rain had stopped a few hours ago, the sky had begun to darken and that was clear evidence that the rain was going to pour down again.A little girl could be seen picking small apples that had fallen down the tree that stood tall in the center of a huge Mansion."Beatrice darling, how many times does mummy have to tell you that picking the fallen apples is bad..do you want to be struck by lightning?" An older woman asked as she walked out of the house to see the little girl down on her knees as she picked them carefully."But mummy, the apples are fresh.""Sweetie, this is food for the dead not for the living." Her mother said, and the little girl's eyes widened."But why do we have them here mummy, if they are for the dead..they should be kept in the cemetery." The little girl said as she discarded the fruits and stood up to meet her mother."Come here and let me make you a good pudding." Her mother said and carried her up."Mummy, will it rain again?" Beatrice asked."It will if little Beatrice does not take her bath quickly." Her mother said."Ma'am." The butler of the house gave a bow to the woman."What is wrong Pablo?" The woman asked, seeing the man crease his forehead out of worry."There was a little problem at the village and the congressmen sent a letter." The butler said, as he took the little girl in his arms and the woman collected the letter."What does it say Milady?" Asked the butler seeing the woman's face turns sour."Take Beatrice to her room, I'll be out to the council now." The elder woman said as she walked away.Having lived in the mansion for years ever since the madam and sire had gotten married Pablo knew that something was wrong somewhere.Although he knew his madam could take care of many things, her change of mood was never a good thing. As a half-vampire, he could tell that something bad was going to happen."Pablo." The little girl called and he looked up at her shiny eyes."Hmm? What is wrong little miss?" He asked as he walked to her room."Is mummy alright? where is she going?" Beatrice asked."Mummy has an important place to be at the moment that's why she's in a hurry." He answered her questions, softly and carefully... clearing her curiosity. As a little girl, Beatrice had grown to be very curious about everything and that was something he had to make sure he stopped at a tender age."I don't feel good, will mummy be alright?" She asked again, as he settled her on her bed.Her eyes stared at him and he shook his head before pinching her nose."Silly girl, this grandpa would make sure you never be alone and mummy would come back home." He said and she smiled."Grandpa? It suits you though, Pablo." She giggled and he shook his head.•Hours passed and the sky had began to darken as night was on its way at a fast pace.Beatrice stood by the patio, her hand on the pavement as she watched the huge gate. Her red eyes blinked as the gate opened. She sighed, as she saw the butler walk through the gate. She walked out of her room, running down the stairs as she caught up with the butler."Pablo, where is mummy. it's past nine." She asked. The older man sighed, not knowing how to pass the news. She had already lost her father and now her mother had gone too.Surely the little girl would not take it well."What happened to my mummy?" She asked, her red eyes shining due to the tears that had rested on them.He should have known that she would have noticed the rush of his heartbeat and the sound it gave."Shhh.. don't cry little Beatrice. Uncle Pablo is here to protect you." He mumbled as a tear left her eyes."Mummy is gone." He added, and a scream filled the air.A scream of a Twelve-year-old, as she wailed her eyes out for her lost mother.°°The next day had turned cold, colder than the cold room where slaves who disobeyed their Masters and mistresses were sent to learn their lesson."Little Beatrice." A woman called the little girl was quiet as she stared at her mother's corpse which was ready to be buried."Beatrice." The woman called again, a little louder but soft."Aunt Amelia." Beatrice turned to the older woman and tears prickled out of her eyes."Oh my little poor bunny, look how thin you have become in a few days." The woman muttered, wrapping her in her arms."Aunt Amelia, mummy..mummy left us." Little Beatrice cried as she hugged her only aunt. The older woman sighed, as she cleaned the tears coming out of her sad red eyes."Aunt Amelia is here to take you home with her. Won't you come with Auntie now?"Beatrice shook her head."I want to stay here with Grandpa Pablo."The woman could only sigh. The child was indeed a stubborn one, very stubborn to the core."How is the mansion faring now?" She turned to the man the little girl had referred to as Grandpa. He was indeed a grandpa with white hair and all."We will have to move to the small Mansion at the Eastern border." The man said with a small smile. The lands were divided into four different parts. The Nalish, Naborta, Bathon, and the strongest of all...Viscoria.Viscoria unlike the other lands was ruled by a cruel lord, Lord Wolfarine.Little Beatrice looked up at her butler.Even at a tender age, one knew who ruled the Eastern Border.Rumors had flown around and those rumors were known to be true for how heartless and cruel the man had ruled for years."Grandpa Pablo, are we going there?" Little Beatrice asked as she watched the man drop their bags into the carriage."Hmm.""But, they'll hit us and stake us." She said, blinking her red eyes."They stake witches, not vampires Beatrice." He answered and she shook her head."But Grandpa Pablo, the Eastern border is full of weird creatures..the wolves.""Hmm.""That is the only place that can guarantee your safety little Beatrice." The man said as he placed her on the seat of the carriage. And off..the drove to a new Land.TBCChapter 2"Don't run far from the wooden part Beatrice." "Don't worry Grandpa Pablo, I'm no longer a little kid." The older man sighed, as he watched her run down the lane.He was thankful to the moon goddess that she has finally gotten adjusted to the Eastern border.Although they stayed far away from humans and other creatures, it was impossible to keep her from roaming around. He smiled. She had grown to be a pretty woman, and he was proud."She's going to hurt something Uncle." He heard the other child say."You're supposed to go after your sister Mel, not say things that are not true.""She goes around hitting things and throwing things." Mel frowned and huffed."Ahhh.." They both heard a scream."Told you so."Mel ran off as quickly as she could, and when she got to the scene where the yell had come from, she glared at her cousin and huffed."Thought you were dead.""Isn't she beautiful?" Beatrice asked as she caressed the skin of the little rabbit she had caught."I'm already
Chapter 3Beatrice sat at the table, and her eyes looked around.Years ago she was part of this group, the Elites. She was still part of them, but her property was being held by the government of the land of Naslish.Sha watched Mel dance with different men.Her sister, after all, was quite a beauty and men loved her."The Party has just begun, and it seems you're tired." The voice startled her and when she turned..the person with the voice startled her the more."Milord." She gave a slight bow and stood up.Her silvery gown brushed past his leg and he took a step backward."How are you finding the party Little Beatle?" He asked, his eyes rounding the number of people in the house."Pardon me Milord, but my name is Beatrice not Beatle." She corrected with a smile. She was not little, she was a full-grown woman. At the age of Nineteen, she was already full and ready to get married. If he was not the Lord Of Viscoria, she would have banged his head on the table."How bad of me to call a
Chapter 4Beatrice sat on the chair, her eyes flickering to the fireplace. Her red eyes were pale as she blinked them severally."You're getting hotter Beatrice," Mel mumbled, placing the wet towel that was wrapped with ice on her forehead.Beatrice shivered, sighing and biting her tongue as Mel continued."I don't know why you're like this, but you better say something." Mel hissed."I feel hot.""You've been saying that for hours now dear sister, and believe me when I say I am tired." "I feel hot Mel, I'm supposed to be as Cold as ice, remember?" Mel shook her head, as she watched the older man walk into the room."Grandpa Pablo, Beatrice's temperature is getting worst," Mel said, taking a seat as she turned on the cooler. The cooler was something used by the Black Market to punish slaves that went out of the way to disobey their Mistresses and Masters."This is bad.""You shouldn't be complaining, even the humans in the black market get used to this kind of thing." Mel huffed."I
Chapter 5Hours passed and the carriage had come to a halt.Beatrice coughed. She had been awake for the past two hours but she could not move her legs due to the pain she'd experienced.Crawling close to her sister, she touched her cheek and caressed her face."Dear sister, wake up now, or else this sister of yours will leave you here." She mumbled, close to her ears and Mel frowned as if upset in her dream.Taking her small finger into her mouth, Mel nipped on the flesh, her fangs sinking into Beatrice's small finger.Beatrice's eyes widened and she tried to pull away but her sister had taken her hand into her mouth and in-between her fangs."Grilled meat." She chewed on the finger, not so hard and not so gentle too."Aye sister dear, this is Beatrice, not some grilled meat." Beatrice went down to bit her sister on the hand too."Ahhh." Mel cried out, standing up in a swift move that her head came in contact with Beatrice's nose."Ahhh." Beatrice shook her head."Why did you do that
Beatrice and Mel walked back home after the had gone to the village to find it deserted. It was strange to find the village that was once filled with wolves and few humans deserted, but then again, nothing was said to be strange in their world."Grandpa Pablo!" Mel yelled, as she ran swiftly to the old man that was gathering firewoods. They old man turned to see his two daughter's running in to his arms."Where have you two been, you've made this Grandpa of yours very sad." They man mumbled, as a tear left his eyes.Beatrice sighed and cleaned his tears."Sorry Grandpa, some men came and captured us and took us out of the village to the heart of Viscoria." Mel said, and hissed."Hmm, tell me more." He smiled, as talkative Melissa continued with her babbling. ******The long table that rested on the ground of the cold meeting room, was brownish in colour as it grey colour at the foot of the legs seemed to darken as time went by.The Lord of Viscoria, sat at the front of the table as
The dark mansion stood tall at the center of Viscoria known as the heart of Viscoria. The mansion looked dark and grey in colour and a huge Olive tree stood at the middle of the Mansion."Zane." Lord Wolfarine called, as his amber-golden eyes flickered up and down."Milord?""You had something to say, no?" The Lord asked, as he watched the clock ticked slowly."Hmm, Lady Herbert is here to see you and besides, the elders of the Town demanded a meeting." Zane said and the Lord chuckled."How jobless have you become Zane, seeing as you've neglected the important things you're suppose to do and chasing some skirt. Tell me, have you become attached to Yuan?"The Lord asked, with a smirk on his lips."Lady Yuan is like a sister to me Milord." Zane said sarcastically, as he rolled his eyes and took a seat."Hmm, sister is it?" The Lord, laughed."Stop talking rubbish Wolfarine, you and I both know that Yuan is out of my reach." "No wonder you call her a sister." The Lord nodded."You have b
Chapter 8The journey to the town of Viscoria was slow, unlike their previous journeys, as the carriage rode slowly due to the items they had loaded on the carriage.Beatrice stepped down from the carriage and sighed, stretching her hands."The journey was indeed slow sister," Mel said, sighing."Hmm.A mansion." Beatrice said, turning to the older man."This belonged to your father Mr. Pendragon." The man said, staring at the huge Mansion."Papa never said a thing about living in Victoria." Beatrice frowned."Enough talking, and more packing." The older man hushed, as she furrowed her brows and the frown deepened."You're trying to avoid the talk now Grandpa Pablo." Beatrice huffed, for her sister to sigh again."I'm so tired." Mel sighed again, as she picked up the little items she had dropped in the carriage."This is not fair, I don't get to pack the huge items and unpack them again!""Life is never fair dear sister." Mel yawned.Three maids ran out of the mansion to help with the
Chapter 9"Hmm, it is a pleasure to meet you Lady Beatrice." Lady Yuan said."It is my pleasure Milady." Beatrice smiled."Your fangs are sharp.""I told her so." Lady Herbert said, walking out of the room she had just gone into."Don't flatter me Milady, it is not as sharp as yours.""Lies, it is almost the same...with Wolfarine." Lady Yuan said, and gave her a smile."Pardon me, I'm used to call him that." "Why not Lady Yuan, there is no need to give me an excuse, every one knows he's like a brother to you." Beatrice said, not knowing why the lady were being so nice to her.Was it normal? or was it how they were? But they tales she had heard when she was little was that this particular creatures were evil and cruel.Or was it a way to lure her and stake her?"Don't tense Beatrice, we're not going to hurt you, not that we can anyway. You're a Cold-blooded Vampire and a powerful one at that." Yuan said and Beatrice nodded, reluctantly.Beatrice was not going to lose guard with this pe
