Prologue
“It’s your turn, Elle. Be on standby!”
She gasped as she heard her floor manager’s voice, bringing her back to her senses. Tonight is the night to be bid by the billionaires.
In that club, she's known as Elle, short for Eleanor. But on the flip side, she's Brii, short for Brianna. Two identities with two different personas—a plain and an aloof college student in the broad daylight, and a seductive woman at a nightclub lurking in the dark.
Shit! Why am I getting nervous? Jeez, I shouldn’t be. I wanted this, didn't I? I need this so I could start over and get out of this place soon. Oh, God. Give me more strength and give me the best of luck. Grant me the wealthiest man out there. Please, don't beat me down. Gosh. I spent so many restless days just to get this far.
“Elle . . .”
“I’m coming over, madam,” she yelled back while fixing herself in front of the mirror.
She straightened up, her eyes fixed in the mirror. She was wearing a velvet, silky, low-cut dress that barely reached her knees. One reckless move is enough to expose her intimate parts. Its sequin design glimmered like a speck of pixie dust as the light reflected over it. Satisfied, a smile formed her lips.
The long wait is over, Elle. Let those filthy business tycoons bid you on their highest amount. They were all gathered here just to witness the night. Whoever bids the highest must be very rich. I should consider myself lucky, right?
She winked at herself in the mirror, brought her fingers on her wavy hair and brushed it down neatly. The club's "Madam" had it curled for her just for this night— to flaunt her most seductive aura for later.
“Look at you, looking so expensive. . .” Madam was in awe while eyeing her from head to toe. “You’re not labeled as a queen of seduction for nothing. You are so hot indeed. Everything looks good on you!”
“Thank you, madam,” she winked at her.
“Oh, I’m sure they’ll bid higher than we anticipated. I can’t wait to see them getting crazy over you tonight.”
She grinned at her from ear to ear. “Thanks, madam. I'll try my best tonight.”
“Here, wear this,” she placed a silky robe on her shoulders. “You knew the drill, right?”
She nodded.
“And this . . .” she slipped a black mask into her hand. “You can do this, Elle. Ready?” finally, she asked her after helping her with her outfit.
She smiled. “Always am, madam.”
“Good,” she said, gesturing towards the hall leading to the stage.
“The next in line was up for the auction ladies and gentlemen, this is the star of the night, the damsel of beauty, and the queen of seduction— Elle!” announced the host.
The Señorita song played in the background. The rendition was personalized by their guest singer and it started in slow motion. The music was the cue for her entrance and from the dark, she swayed her body as gracefully as she could. Her movement was slow but seductive. A smile formed her lips, showing the perfect set of her teeth.
Her hands gripped on the silver pole and swayed her hips for a tease by the time she reached the center stage. She couldn't help but smile broadly as she saw the amused expression in their eyes. Just like that, she stole the people’s attention attending the exclusive bachelorette yearly auction. Her "Madam" must be really proud of her now. Well, she's one of the most influential entrepreneurs in the club entertainment industry in the Philippines. And Elle didn't want to disappoint her.
As soon as heard the ring, she let go of the pole and untied the lace of her bathrobe. In a most teasing manner, she took the silk fabric off of her body, revealing her petite yet sexy figure. She couldn’t help but smirk hearing the crowds’ reaction when she took off the robe. Her body looked mature for her age. She’s only twenty years old but she possessed a body figure of a fine woman.
She continued swaying on the dance floor sensually. She let her hair cover her face as she bent over, biting her lips. They turned off the limelight in the last minute of her slow-dance, a hint when she has to take off her mask. Shortly afterward, the tiny bit of light flickers around the club. She then settled on a couch across the bidders' seat. She began to feel nervous but it didn't stop her from doing her thing like nobody's watching. She knew she needed this.
After a few moments, the auctioneer started to speak through a wireless microphone. He began introducing himself to the audience as well as explaining to them how the auction works. As soon as he finished talking, her nervousness intensified but she kept her smile and posture nevertheless.
By the time the cymbal clanged, a man raised his bidder card. “Five hundred thousand pesos.”
She stared at the man who just announced the starting bid price. It wasn't that bad for a start, however, she needed higher than the said amount. Besides, she prepared so much for this and she thought she deserved more than that.
“Five hundred thousand. Going once! Going twice! Anybody want to bid more?”
“One million!” a man whose voice sounded baritone raised his bid.
What does a nerdy-looking guy in a business suit and thick eyeglasses do in this kind of auction? Interesting.
Elle drew a heavy breath. One million was surely big enough. But looking at those men watching her with lust, she wanted to expect a much higher amount. Regardless of how the man looked, she cared less at the moment. She crossed her legs and bit her lips as she smiled at them seductively.
Come on. . . Someone has to do better than this.
“Two million!” The bid came from a DOM.
“Five million, plus a car.” A word from the other DOM bidder.
She held her breath for a second. That's a bit steep. A five million bid means she'd gain at least 2.5 million from it. Plus a car? Fair enough.
“Five million. Going once! Going twice! Anybody want to give higher than that?” the auctioneer continued.
Then, right at the corner of the lounge, a guy raised his bid. “Six million plus a car,”
Her jaw dropped hearing the amount he just said. Six million was a bit much but she'd love to have that. The man was seated at a spot that was a bit dark for her to see. But even so, she could tell that the man was hot. She'd definitely spend a month with this guy for six million.
“Eight million plus a car?” The old man earlier in the bid tried to compete against the price.
Oh, goodness, not this old hag again.
She was a bit annoyed but she kept her smile visible to hide her irritation. Now that the hot guy got her attention, she somehow wanted him to win her over.
“Eight million plus a car. Going once! Going—”
“Ten million, a brand new car of her choice, and a house and lot,” A man with a baritone voice spoke in the dark, raising his bid price firmly.
Her smile widened and she could almost hear her heart pounding in mixed emotions. His bidding price cost an arm and leg! She'd definitely go for it. But when the spotlight landed on the man's face, the smile on her face faded right away.
That guy. . . Could he possibly be Prince Dave El-Greco?
JerkIn a split second, his eyes met hers. Just like that, she could feel the anxiety piling up in her chest especially when the man winked at her. She could not help but swallow the lump in her throat. It can’t be. I don't want this guy to own me. I can't stand him. Please, somebody has to bid higher than his bidding price. There's no way I'd spend a month with this idiot.“Any higher bid?” the auctioneer spoke up but nobody responded after that. Now, she couldn't feel any more nervous. “Going once, going twice, sold!”Sold. She could not move her body. Everything rendered her speechless. She refused to believe what just happened. But there he was, standing right before her the moment the auctioneer told him to claim her on the stage. They held eyes for a moment and then, he stretched out a mischievous smirk.Upbeat music played in the background, making her come back to her senses. The man was standing in front of her, staring directly into her eyes. Then, he took off his black coa
SweatsShe cleared her throat, trying to swallow her nervousness. “ I'm down for anything. I dare you to dare me, El Greco.”“First, drop the formalities. I prefer to be called Dave,”"Okay, Dave. Whatever—" she was cut mid-sentence when he pinned her against the dresser.“I dare you to kiss me,” he told her with a smirk etched across his lips. She stared at him for a moment, then a mocking chortle escaped from her mouth. Couldn't he get any funnier? He wanted me to kiss him? Such a piece of cake. Almost immediately, she grabbed his neck toward her as she brought her head up. Their lips connected. She ran her fingers through his dark hair. His hands began to roam around her back, trying to deepen the kiss. But before everything got deep, she pulled away from the kiss, leaving him deadpan."You're no fun," she smirked, completely removing the robe from her body. Dave watched the robe fall on the floor, then his eyes went to her almost naked body. Now, she's only wearing her two-piec
ForceI stare at my wristwatch, feeling so annoyed. Just one more snap and I'm about to burst. Damn it! I've been waiting here for God knows how long. What time is it now? That person is really wasting my time! I don't like people keeping me waiting. There’s no way I’d waste another two hours waiting for that bullshit person.I’m so done!“Ouch!” I yell in pain as my head bumps into someone the moment I stand from my seat. "Shit. . ." I curse, clutching my hurt temple.Seriously, this day can't get any more annoying. “What the hell is wrong with you? Don't you know what social dis—” A hand cuts me off from talking.A man in a corporate suit appears right before me. His chest smells like vanilla perfume dancing through my nostrils.“Where do you think you’re going? I've just arrived and you're leaving?”I raise my face to have a clear sight of him. My eyes grow wide the moment I recognize who it is. A ghost from the past flashes through my mind. I have tried so much just to get rid of
LuggageI look around only to see people eyeing us. There is a hint of confusion registered in their eyes, leaving me without any choice but to get into his car when he pushes me inside. I try to open the other door but much to my dismay, it’s already locked.“Where are you taking me? Where's my car?!”“Don’t worry. I'll take care of it. Give me your keys,” he extends his palm at me.I want to resist but hell, he's right. Resisting won't benefit me at the moment. He's especially persistent with his plan. I'm not surprised actually. He's always been like that. That's the reason why I hate his gut so much I want to punch him in the face. Scowling, I scan my bag and almost throw the keys in his face but he is able to catch it fast. There’s a smirk painting on his lips before he turns his back at me. An old man approaches him, perhaps, one of his men. He was telling him something which I reckon is to take care of my car. After giving his word to the man, he bows down and leaves right away
His CompanyMy mind is completely spaced out for the entire drive as we head our way to his office. As I go deep into my thoughts, I realize that I still need to report to Mrs. Salazar's office to inform her about the closed deal. I clear my throat and turn to face Dave. He looks over his shoulder when he notices I was staring at him. I try to find my voice and say to him what concerns me.“Uh, well, if you don't mind, can we drop by at Mrs. Salazar's office? There's something I need to report to my boss firsthand before we can proceed to this deal. You know, it's part of our protocol.”“Sure. I have something to talk to her about, too,” he says with a serious tone in his voice.“Okay.”We fall into silence after that. I turn to face the car window again. While Dave seems busy on his phone doing some sort of his personal transactions or whatever business people may call it. As soon as we arrive at our destination, we both get out of the car almost in sync. The clock reads two in the
Portrait Dave proceeds in his office, leaving us behind. My eyes fly towards the secretary's get up. Old-fashioned. Thick brows. She wears thick-rimmed glasses and dental braces. Her hair is tied up in a bun. Good thing his secretary isn't that sexy and provocative with her outfit. Otherwise, she'll be perverted by her own boss. Gosh, I can only imagine. On a side note, they seem pretty close to each other. They sure have a pretty decent relationship by the way they interacted earlier ago. “Hello, Miss Brianna. This is Lottie. Please call me Lott. Glad to meet you,” she introduces herself as she raises a hand, offering a formal handshake."Pleased to meet you, too," I say, returning her gesture.“Your office is right down the hall. Please, follow me,”I follow her lead as she brings me to the corner side of the hall. Lott opens the door for me. She ushers me to go inside first and she comes in afterward. My eyes scan the four-cornered walls of the room. The space looks decent enoug
DavvyI feel like my heart has suddenly skipped a beat. The one who's standing right before the glass door is a cute little girl in a pink jumper which I reckon is a private school uniform. I watch her running towards her father for a hug. I am pretty sure that she is about four years old but looks pretty much taller for her age. This little girl is the epitome of perfection; porcelain skin, healthy posture, beautiful shape of a face, silky and wavy long hair with bangs fall on the forehead, a perfect set of teeth when she smiles, thick brows and curvy lashes, a radiating calmness in her dark eyes, pointed nose and a fine mouth shape.I can't help but swallow hard as I watch the kid approach her father and give him a kiss on the cheek. There's a warm smile painted across Dave's face while embracing the younger version of himself. My chest tightens, unsure what exactly I am feeling at the moment. It's a mixture of joy, sadness, and an unfathomable emotion while looking at the little c
PrideHis words hit me. He speaks in a near monotone. I am about to open my mouth to respond when Dave already gets up from his chair. I watch him coming towards his daughter. He then carries the child in his arms.A hurricane of emotion swirls deep within me as his words stop me cold. A passionate father-and-daughter relationship tied me up— it is just full of happiness and love and content. A strange mix of insecurity and jealousy washes over me. And I have no idea where it comes from and what it is even for.I shake my thoughts off my mind. I rise from my seat as Dave gestures to me to follow him. Davvy is burying her tiny face against her father's shoulder. She glances in my direction and just like what she did earlier, she rolls her eyes at me. Not allowing myself to be drowned in irritation, I heave out a sigh. As soon as we get out of the office, his secretary approaches right away with a thin smile.“Lott, we are heading out now. Have you clocked out yet?”“I already have, si
