Chapter 4

Author: South Twig
Stella clenched her knuckles suddenly, her dark eyes brooding as thoughts raced in her mind.

Just then, a reporter suddenly shouted at me indignantly, "That's enough, you lunatic! How are you still being so stubborn when you're about to meet your demise?

"Don't worry, Dr. Watson! We're all livestreaming in real time here, and the whole nation believes that you're not like what he says you are!"

As soon as those words were out of his mouth, Stella's eyes sharpened, and she immediately gave out her orders without any hesitation.

"Get the sedatives! We must not let this lunatic hurt anyone else before the people from the mental institution arrive!"

I screamed in terror, but the security guards forcibly injected the sedatives into my veins.

The cool liquid flowed into my body, and I could immediately feel my head swelling and my vision getting blurry. I was also beginning to lose strength in my limbs.

The ambulance sirens were soon heard. A short while later, my wrists were cuffed by the mental institution personnel.

Stella came up to me, but she just pretended to sigh apologetically.

"Doctor, my caretaker is a little cuckoo. Don't take anything he says to heart."

"Of course, Dr. Watson. Nobody takes anything these crazy patients say to heart," they replied.

I felt my heart aching numbly, as if someone had just torn my chest in half and let the cold draft blow across whatever remained.

We had been married for ten years. To get her to where she was today, I had even specifically had her transferred to a top hospital in the city.

When she wanted to start her own business, I pulled all the strings I could and sought all my resources for her, even investing in her business under my family name.

But yet, this was what it all got me in return. She spun a huge lie about me and slandered me in public instead!

Seeing that I was unable to break free no matter what, I gritted my teeth and unleashed all of whatever remaining strength to say, "My dad is already on his way, Stella Watson.

"I refuse to believe that I will continue to be framed as being mentally ill, seeing as I'm the son of the richest man in Jondavia, once he arrives!"

When Stella heard this, she stopped walking and asked the mental institute doctor to let go of my arm.

I fell to the ground in a heap as her shadow loomed over me on the floor instead. She then bent down and grabbed me by the chin, forcing me to look at her.

She then spoke in a voice that only I could hear, and it was low and jeering.

"Lucas Greene, of course I know that your family has connections everywhere and would never let me off easily.

"But guess what? I've already had someone tamper with your father's car. I'm afraid that you'll never be able to meet him again, no matter how long you wait for him."

My pupils immediately contracted sharply as my heart plummeted into a dark, never-ending abyss.

Dad had financially supported her for seven years and had even planned to hand over the family business to her. How could she even think of…

My hatred surged to its peak, and I bit her ear hard until I tasted blood.

Stella shoved me off, exclaiming in pain, whilst I just continued laughing heartily as if I'd just lost my mind.

"Are you seriously trying to make a profit by killing off my family? In your face, Stella Watson!

"I'm going to get my lawyer to upload and expose all of your recordings online tomorrow! Just you wait! You're going to get totally destroyed!"

At that, Stella's eyes completely turned bloodshot. She then grabbed me by my hair and began slamming my head against the wall.

"Trying to destroy me? In your dreams, Lucas Greene! Since you insist on turning things ugly, then maybe you should just die instead! Die, you bastard!"

There were loud, muffled thuds as she continued bashing my head into the wall. Blood trickled into my eyes, turning my vision red. Even the nerves in my brain felt as though they were being ripped out of my head with bare hands.

The ringing in my ears wouldn't stop. I lifted a bloodied arm toward Grandma and garbled, "Grandma… Save me…"

However, Grandma only trembled harder and cowered behind while Drake stared smugly at me.

He seemed to silently mouth the words, "You've lost," in my face.

Just as my consciousness began to blur out and I was going to pass out from the pain, a loud, deafening, and intimidating voice boomed down the corridor.

"How dare you lay your hands on my son? You must really have a death wish!"

I never imagined that I would meet Angie again under such circumstances.I sounded a little awkward when talking to her, most probably because it had been such a long time since I last saw her."I guess I'll leave the divorce proceedings to you then, Angie…"Angie took the evidence I handed to her and examined each one closely. A few seconds later, she said in a certain manner, "Don't worry. Just leave it to me."I've fought countless divorce cases—at least a hundred of them. Even without evidence of her infidelity to you, the fact that she's now in prison means that she has no choice but to sign the divorce agreement anyway!"I sighed in relief, feeling the huge burden being lifted from my shoulders at her words. Finally, my marriage to Stella was coming to an end.Yet, I couldn't quite tell if I ought to feel relieved or remorseful at that. After all, I'd just wanted ten years of my youth on someone who wasn't even worth it in the end.But now, I was all alone moving forward,

Amidst Stella's pleas for mercy, I withdrew my arm and didn't want to spare another look at her, finding her disgusting."Of course I'll let the hospital off the hook," I said.Stella's bitter expression froze for a bit before she cracked into a huge beam."That's great! I knew that you still loved me, Lucas!"Stella was very surprised. She didn't even care that I'd shaken off her arm earlier and ran up to me to hug me.However, before she could even touch me, Dad kicked her and sent her flying into the wall behind her instead. There was a loud thud as she hit the wall and slid to the ground.Dad then withdrew his leg and glared at the oblivious Stella at his feet."Do you still not understand what Lucas meant? He's divorcing you and leaving you with nothing!"And since you, as the major shareholder of the hospital, are gone, the hospital's management rights will automatically go to Lucas. But don't worry. With his talent and abilities, he will definitely make this plastic sur

Drake continued crying his heart out in a pitiful manner, just as he used to cry back when he first came to Jondavia from his little village back then.He had also gotten down on his knees and begged us to take him in, saying that he was willing to do anything.I had felt sorry for him back then and decided to take him in, but I never thought that he would end up causing such a huge disaster for me instead.Drake was a master of pretense. He was only crying now because he thought he was driven into a corner, and it was thus just a desperate attempt to gain sympathy from me.But I had been fooled once in the past. I wasn't going to let myself be fooled again for the second time. Before I could say anything in response, however, Stella, who'd been standing next to me, suddenly rushed up to him with reddened eyes."What nonsense are you saying? There's absolutely nothing wrong with my hospital!"You lunatic! You were the one who seduced me first! How dare you try to throw me under

I was going to continue hitting Stella in her utmost shameless face!My gaze sharpened as I clenched my fist harder with full force, swinging another solid slap on her burning cheek until a trickle of blood appeared in the corner of her lips.Stella's head was lowered, and her hair was a mess while her swollen cheek only continued ballooning. When she saw that I was going to hit her again, she finally couldn't stand it anymore and grabbed me by my wrist."Lucas Greene! Haven't you calmed down yet? Go home with your father first. I will go back home and properly apologize to you later…"Before she could finish speaking, I interrupted her and said, "Go home? I don't have a home with you anymore, Stella Watson! I'm divorcing you today! And you're not getting a single penny to your name!"Stella finally showed some panic when she heard me bring up divorce."You're divorcing me? Lucas, we have already been married for ten years. As the man's booming, authoritative voice faded, the entire hospital fell into dead silence. The sound of leather shoes approaching steadily came from the end of the hospital corridor. The crowd of reporters and onlookers immediately turned around to look, immediately catching sight of a man in a dark blue executive blazer walking in.It was Dad, Dominic Greene. There were also at least a dozen or so bodyguards and officials in suits, looking imposing and intimidating as they walked behind him.Someone recognized him and immediately gasped in shock."Isn't that Mr. Greene, the director of the Department of Commerce? Isn't he also from the reclusive family from Jondavia?""Is he here to back up his son? But his son is fine and dandy…""Are you daft? It's obvious that there's a plot twist here!
