Chapter 15: Grant pov

I can hear fear creeping into her voice as she whispers down the line. I worry about her. It triggers my need to know what has happened to her in her past to make her so afraid to have contact with anyone.

“Okay, well first thing is first, do not, under any circumstances hang up this call, understood.”

“Uh huh, what if I should need to make a call?”

“Tell me and I will have Ellis make it for you.”

“Okay, what is two?”

“Use the peephole to see who it is. Do not open the door unless you are sure that the person has no ill intent.”

“Okay I am going over, don’t talk.”

I hold my breath as I listen to her taking soft steps towards the door.

“Angela!”

A muffled shout comes across the line which I assume came from whoever is the other side of her door. Clearly, it’s a male and he knows her personally, from the use of her full name, but I hear her take a sharp intake of breathe.

“Oh no!”
