In the depths of her heart, he had always been the love of her life. Arabella's dreams were filled with visions of standing by his side, and her prayers to the moon goddess were fervent, hoping to be chosen as his mate. Upon his request for her to become his Luna, Arabella's joy knew no bounds. Yet, her world crumbled when he unexpectedly selected her foster sister as Luna instead, proposing that Arabella should become his mistress. It left her heart shattered into pieces. Willing to endure anything to stay close to the man she loved, Arabella faced a devastating twist when he unjustly accused her of his father's murder, leading to her imprisonment and a death sentence. Years later, after her rescue, a successful doctor, Arabella returned to the pack. Her mission: to heal one of the ailing triplets she had with the man who once condemned her to death. With a new identity and an unfamiliar face, she embarked on her journey. However, upon her arrival, a shocking revelation left her dumbfounded. Drawing nearer to her foster sister and Rhys, the man who had caused her heartache, an opportunity for revenge emerged. The question now was whether Arabella would act on her desire for revenge, despite her lingering feelings for him, or if she could maintain her hidden identity until her daughter recovered.

“You slept with your best friend’s boyfriend?! You should be ashamed of yourself!” I yelled at Lily as I rummage through my wardrobe. She laughed, finding what I said funny but I didn't. My best friend was a cheat and I didn't know until now.
“That guy is my mate now, you should be happy for me.” Lily laughed again.
“Josh has liked me since second grade!” I countered, still rummaging. Today was a special day for me. A day that I would be with the love of my life forever. After today, I will be happy forever.
“And now he is a grown man that's in love with me, stupid girl!” Lily laughed again. She was just telling me about her mating experience and how it had been the best thing so far in her life. I am happy for Lily, she was my best friend and so was Josh.
“Tell me you are not looking for the purple dress we bought yesterday?” Lily asked, and I nodded.
“You took it to the bathroom this morning, remember?” Lily asked, putting me off my misery. I groaned and quickly went to get it. Thirty minutes later, I was done dressing with the help of Lily.
Perhaps I shouldn't be happy like this, I should be scared and sad and filled with anxiety but after meeting with Rhys yesterday, he assured me he will choose me as his mate no mother what. We had sex and he enjoyed it like I did. Today, nothing will ruin my happiness.
We got out and Josh was already waiting for us with his Lexus car. Everyone on the street was ready for the moon goddess festival, they were all happy and giddy like me. Our happiness was different though. Alpha Rhys was going to choose me even though I was only seventeen. He said he didn't care if I wasn't his mate, he loves me and would choose me over and over again.
In remembrance of his words and the way his eyes glistened as he spoke the words, goosebumps grew on my body.
“You look stunning, girl.” Josh turned to the both of us before igniting the car. Then I saw Lily frown beside me.
“I am your mate, you should compliment me differently!” She tapped his shoulder and I laughed.
“And I am his childhood girlfriend.” I chipped in,
“Crush!” She corrected with a playful grunt.
Soon, Josh rode us to the venue. The venue was the town square. The Alpha wanted a venue that could fit everyone without anyone crashing into another. The place was quite large and I did not expect to bump into my sister and her best friend.
Just like my sister, her best friend Rose did not like me at all.
“Where did you get your dress?” She asked with an eye roll. However, I wasn't in the mood to respond to her. My eyes were scanning everywhere for Rhys, I wanted to see his handsome face before he announced me as his mate by evening.
“Probably from the two cents store.” My sister, Mia, mocked me. Lily who was beside me glared at them, she was ready to fight for me anytime and day. Every day I wondered why Lily wasn't my sister instead of Mia.
“I need some fruit wine, I don't want my perfect day to be ruined,” Mia started and then dragged her friend away with her.
“Thank God they are gone, I cannot spend another second looking at her!” Lily groaned and I laughed.
“What perfect day was she talking about?” Lily asked. I heard her as well but whatever perfect day she was having, it could never ruin mine.
Mine was the perfect Cinderella fairytale. A life every maiden in a frostbite pack would kill for.
An opportunity presented to me and me alone. There was no doubt that I was the perfect Barbie in every fairytale - that got everything everyone wishes for.
“Nothing can ruin a day like this. Not Mia. And on a brighter note, I will soon be free from her.” I twirled around and Lily giggled, running to me,
The ceremony began soon, everyone was excited to see the Alpha. He was a handsome and strong man, every woman wanted him. He announced the beginning of the ceremony and we all jubilated.
I looked at his eyes, hoping he’d share with me a beautiful glance like he always did even before he became Alpha but he didn't.
There was a gloomy expression behind his eyes each time, it sent hot shivers down my spine. I wondered what was wrong with my Alpha Charming. Pack duties must be worrying him again. I cannot wait to be by his side and help him. Later in the evening, it was time for Alpha Rhys to make the special announcement.
My heart bubbled with so much joy but at the same time, I was anxious. Lily wasn't back from getting fruit wine with Josh. I know he was making her fruit blossom somewhere. My cheeks heat up at the thought of I and Rhys doing the same tonight in his gigantic room. I'm a lucky little she-wolf.
I can shift ever since I was a little, I'm different from everyone else because werewolves shift at age eighteen. The thing was that I wasn't eighteen yet but as much as I wanted to be eighteen and find out if he was truly my mate, I didn't want it.
The fear of him not being my mate eats me up each time but knowing he hasn't found his mate yet and his assurance has kept me this far. even though maybe the moon goddess kept him waiting for me until I turned eighteen. Eventually, he came on stage, every woman looked at him but he looked at me alone.
“Today, I am going to introduce to you all, my mate and your Luna. You all should accord her the same respect that you owe to me.” He started, his voice nourishing my insides. Blood rushed up to my cheeks and I began to blush stupidly.
“Her name is Mia Wolfhart!” He yelled and then my sister walked past me - toward the stage.
It felt like my eardrum was damaged. Perhaps I was dreaming. It was the name he mentioned, right? My blood streamed as I saw Mia walk to the stage and then Rhys took her hand.
What is happening?
Am I dreaming? This has to be a dream.
I punched the side of my arm hard, so hard my nails burst my skin open. I saw blood on my finger and it showed me this was reality.
No. No. No.
It can't be. I fidgeted.
ARABELLA POV“I can’t believe you’re getting married,” Lily said.I turned away from the mirror to face her. “Do you think I could be potentially making a mistake?”Lily laughed and playfully slapped my arm. “Don’t be silly, Arabella. You thought about this for months. You even went through the painful process of telling everyone your identity.”I smiled at the memory of that. “Yeah, it went surprisingly well. People took it in pretty well.”“You know the one they took in the most? The arrest and public death of Mia.”My mood dampened just a bit. My half sister was killed two weeks ago and here I was, getting married to the man she was previously married to. Rhys asked me not to overthink it as he wasn’t even hers to begin with, and I was working towards that step. I turned to Lily again.“Do you think James and Jenny would make it? They promised that they would show up today and they’re not here yet.”Lily slapped her forehead in embarrassment. She’s been slapping a lot of things lat
RHYS POVI stood outside the boys’ quarters, thinking of how best to go over this. If Jack wanted us to talk about whatever he wanted to talk about, then this was a big secret opener. I was dying to see just how much secret he was willing to uncover, and that included Mia.She was dancing when I stepped into her room. As always, it was open and inviting, as if she was waiting for the day when I would finally accept her. Was she expecting that day to be today? Had she done all this just because she wanted me?Yes, dumb ass. Yes.I ignored my wolf voice and cleared my throat. She stopped dancing and smiled brightly at me, as if I was the sunshine at the end of her tunnel.“You’re here,” she said, wiping her brows with a face towel.“And you’re dancing,” I commented. “What’s the occasion?”“You’ve confined me to this mean, smelly place and I have to get used to it, Rhys.” She gulped down a glass of water. “The fact still remains that I’m your wife and I will be until I sign the divorce p
ARABELLA POVI’ve never had so many things happen to me in the space or hours or minutes but it was definitely happening now. First my children gets kidnapped, then after 24 long, excruciating hours, I go to get them and discover they had somehow managed to free themselves. Then I stupidly went into to the cabin instead of running away with them only to get kidnapped again and have a gun pointed at me.“Your children was a handful,” the first man said. “That is not surprising. I see now where they got it from. You do know we can’t leave you alive after this?”I immediately clasped my hands together in prayer. “Please, I’m begging you with the almighty name of the moon goddess, please let us go. I swear I’ve packed all my things! I’m ready to leave now.”He shook his head. “You’ve seen our face, lady. I wish there was some other way to not kill you—”The door burst open, forcing a startled scream out of me. The kidnapper in front of me trembled. I angled my body to the side and shifted
ARABELLA POV“What are you going to do now?” Lily asked me. “Do you have any plans on how to tackle this?”I paused my restless pacing and turned to her. “I’m burnt out, Lily. I don’t know what to do! I’ve tried to think of every possible thing but nothing. Rhys isn’t even helping matters. He thinks Mia is innocent simply because she hasn’t left the house in days!”“And the kidnappers want you to leave?”“Yes! They clearly said no money, that I should just leave. Who else would not want money and ask me to leave?”She cocked her head at me as both of our mind went to Mia. She was the only sworn enemy that I had that would dare though my children and go Scot free. Thinking about it made by blood boil. I wanted to grab her hair and force her head into a hot oven…“Okay, you’re making that face again, “ Lily said. “We just need to think about what to do next, Arabella. I know this must come as a shock…”“It’s quite the shock, Lily.”“But we have better things to do like waiting for the k
Arabella PovI realized I was vibrating with fear and doom. I needed to calm down, but the thought of my children going through the most traumatic experience of their life was chilling to the bone. Why was it only them that was kidnapped out of all the children coming to school? The kidnappers had technically been aiming for me and my children. I glanced at Mia. It was her. It had to be her. There were no other logic asides the fact that Mia has a vindictive aura towards me and she was not afraid to use them.I turned my back to them and spoke into the phone. “What do you want, please? Can you just let my children go, please? I’ll do anything.”‘Of course you’ll do as you’re told, Dr. Emma, or you’ll never see your children again.”I shivered once more, bracing myself as I asked the most important question. “What do you want then? Is it money? How much would you need to let my kids go?”“You insult us, Dr. Emma. We don’t need your money. We only need you to do one thing and we’ll retu
ARABELLA POVI was very upset, and rightfully so too. I thought about Rhys every day for five days, mostly wondering if he didn’t want to let Mia go. Did he trust her enough to be sure that she hadn’t killed his father? If only I had enough time then to pressure the guy more so he would tell me the truth about Mia. She certainly had more wicked things up her sleeve and I was very desperate to reveal them to the world.“Dr. Emma, you’ve wiped that post four times in a row now,” a nurse said.I jerked back into consciousness and realized that I was in the hospital, wiping a patient’s wrist over and over so I coke inject their antibiotic for them. Murmuring my apologies, I quickly gave them their dose and stood up.“You look tired,” the nurse who had called my attention said. “You can go home; I’ll cover your shift for you. I’m not sure I want to see you dozing off the rest of your days here.”“I’m fine,” I saidSpacing out. I was constantly spacing out because I was concerned for Rhys an
