I wasn't expecting that from him. "It hasn't come to this David." Uncle William barked coming over to my side. " How dare you touch my daughter?!" My mother yelled. "She deserves it." Sandra snapped, laughing. Adrenaline rushed through me. I stood up, and my chair scraped against the floor with a harsh scrrrrrt sound. I picked up some plates of dishes, throwing them at my father...no... he's not my father... David, Julia and Sandra. Their clothes were stained and It gave me so much joy seeing the expressions on their faces. "You mannerless... "Julia tried to hit me but this time My mother stopped her. "Enough!" "You're such a mannerless daughter, what kind of a daughter attacks her own father?!" Julia yelled. "Couldn't you just get through the evening without asking for trouble?" My mother asked Julia. "I can't believe I have a daughter like you." David vomited. I rolled my eyes immediately. I can't believe I have a father like him either. Julia is talking about manners she should lecture herself first . "If you had manners, you wouldn't have turned my father against us. I snapped. Grace and my sister pulled me to the side. I was very pleased with how dirty David and his family looked right now. But then, embarrassment flooded through me not just because of the scene, but because I noticed Javier was still sitting there, watching the drama going on. I wish he didn't have to see how messed up my family was. I couldn’t take it anymore. So I whispered to my mother. “I’m leaving,” This time, no one stopped me. I hurriedly left the hall. The cool evening air hit my face, but at least I was out of there. out of the humiliation. I exhaled. I crossed my arms and started walking trying to board any taxi that drove by but unfortunately for me I found none. My vision blurred as tears filled my eyes. I blinked quickly, trying to stop the tears from dropping. I'm glad I put them in their place but I couldn't stop feeling sad at the same time. I wish my family was different. I wish my life was different. And the tears dropped. I sniffed... And maybe, for the first time, I realized something important. Sometimes, leaving isn’t weakness. Sometimes, it’s the only way to protect yourself. My feet started to hurt as well. When would life go my way? A car suddenly pulled up beside me. I looked sideways to see the glass window rolled down and it was Javier. I quickly wiped my tears. I frowned at him. "Get in." He commanded Get in? We're not in his company neither I'm I his employee and we're clearly not at the bar so, I do not have to take orders from him. And besides, how do I face him after what happened tonight. "It's not easy to get a taxi here." He pressed on. I ignored him and continued walking. Then he started driving slowly after me. Seriously? What is his problem? “I don't think your current with the news. If you are, you would know that severa cases of murder and rape had occurred lately on this street and the murderer is making it impossible for the police to arrest him.” Fear hugged me. “ Enjoy your walk back home.” With that, he drove off. Oh lord! I should have swallowed my pride and just gotten into his car. I just stood where I was, too afraid to take another step. Even if life hasn't been fair to me… I'm still too young to die… Life is beautiful however you see it. Oh God. Please save me. I saw Javier's car stopped upfront and then he drove backwards and stopped right beside me again. He didn't even have to say a word this time. I ran around the car and quickly opened the door of the passenger's seat. The moment I sat down, I fastened my seat belt. Of course I purposely avoided looking at his face. I didn't even say a word to him, I'm very sure he has a cocky expression on. I rested my chin on my palms and stared out of the window. I can't believe my father slapped me because his wife urged him to.The thought alone made my chest hurt. I felt tears slowly filling my eyes. No. I can't cry. Not here. Especially not in front of Javier. I quickly forced my mind to think of something else. I watched the cars passing by and started counting them in my head. Anything to keep my mind busy. I don't want Javier to think I'm weak. Javier's car suddenly slowed down. “We're here,” he announced. Oh, I didn't realize we were at my house already. “Thank you,” Mr Blanca. I unfastened my seat belt. “It's nothing, I just couldn't let my soon to be employee meet her possible death when I could have saved her.” I looked at him. Was that supposed to be his way of showing concern? Soon to be what? The nerve of him to even think about it. I would rather eat dust than be his employee. I honestly don't understand this man. What kind of man is he? His features and perfect hair makes him look like he had stepped out of a magazine but his attitude could make anyone want to scream. I rolled my eyes and opened the door. “Goodbye, Mr Blanca.” I stepped out of his car and slammed the door harder than necessary. I could hear the car drive away behind me. “Oh Lilly, I was worried sick. Where were you?” My mother asked, hurrying towards me as I walked into the living room. “Who dropped you off?... Was it Paul?” “Oh goodness… mum let me breath.” I had more important things to worry about. Tomorrow, I was going to start working for Javier Blanca! And something told me that working that arrogant man was going to be anything but easy.~ Lillian's Pov ~ I wasn't expecting that from him. "It hasn't come to this David." ~ LILLIANS POV ~ “What?! " I let out startling everyone on the table. "I mean... oh" I didn't bother looking up. Until... I heard him ask. "Is this seat taken?" My heart stopped for a second. Javier! Javier again?! Ugh! Why I'm I being tortured by his presence? I'm I the first person to have a one night stand? I slowly raised my head . He was standing right beside me. For a moment, I thought I was dreaming. But no... it was real... painfully real. My eyes widened. “Mom, I should get going...I have a few things to catch up on". I let out, slowly standing up. "Oh no darling, you've been here less than 5 minutes... you've barely even touched your meal." Grace said and playfully pushed me to sit back down. I saw recognition hit Javier in the same second. I tried to hide my shock but I could feel my cheeks heating. The air between us went tight and awkward. Why is he everywhere? Why is he here?... out of all places, out of all nights..
~ LILLIAN'S POV ~ "Miss Tylor, You look nervous, I honestly didn't want to see you again but for the record I need to make you understand that asides from being the CEO of dove fashion, I have no side jobs so take back you 100 dollar. I swallowed. I can't believe he came all the way to my place of work to clarify that he wasn't a prostitute "I understand sir" . I said forcing a smile. I picked up a 100 dollar note from the table. That night never happened... I exhaled, extremely relieved. I turned to leave and... "Oh don't be shy, come pick up the change I mean you clearly need it". Javier's voice called out. So demeaning. I bit my lower lip and I tried to control my temper. I reminded myself how badly I needed this job. I can't afford to mess things up. I turned back slowly and picked up the rest of the money on the table. Still embarrassed, I forced a smile on my face "Thank you sir". I responded. ********* As soon. As I got back to the bar, Lojain came over.
~ LILLIAN'S POV ~ I slipped in a bottle of goûte de diamants into the ice bucket. The weight dug into my palms as I carried it carefully to him. I was nervous as heck. I shakely dropped the drink on the table infront of him. "Here's your drink sir" I can't believe the man I had a one night stand with and humiliated was trying to get back at him. His head was still buried in his cellphone. he didn't acknowledge my presence, so I turned to leave. " pour me a glass ." His deep baritone announced. Reluctantly, I turned back. He had lifted up his head. " Okay sir ." I answered offering him a cheerful smile. Maybe... just maybe he could see me as a different person... a nice person that I am. He leaned back on the leather couch and looked at me with disdain. Like my presence was irritating to him. I felt very uncomfortable and tried my hardest not to tremble. "For someone who claims to be so sophisticated I thought you would have a better job." He said, nonc
~ LILLIAN'S POV ~ The exterior was nothing to write home about, the faded black paint had dulled into a weary shade, with scratches all over, it told stories of sun, rain and years of hands that couldn't afford luxury wax. The back bumper bore a strip of peeling tape like a bandage over an old wound. Inside, the car carried pieces of my life. The faint smell of coffee from my shift cups lingered in the upholstery, mixed with the sweetness of strawberry gum that I chewed to stay awake on late drives. The dusty dashboard had a tiny crack, the air conditioner didn't blow as cool as it should, the steering wheel was worn smooth in places where my hands always rested, and the radio only caught two stations both cracking with static, but I didn't mind. Dangling from the rearview mirror was a silver cross, it glinted faintly in the streetlights at night. It wasn't just decoration; it was my anchor, my quiet reminder that even in the hardest days, God still watched over me. I glanc
~ LILLIAN'S POV ~ I had just finished slipping on my shoes. I didn't want to look at him but his voice stopped me. My heart was beating uncontrollably. I couldn't help but notice his manly features. He was my type to a T. A piece of white towel was wrapped around his waist. He moved with the kind of confidence that made it clear he was used to being admired. He looked so sexy...so hot...I dared not compare him to kaz. Memories of our sex last night invaded my mind again...the way he was sliding inside and repeatedly stroking me. Oh...he had done it so good. I felt hot all over. Oh no! This was not the time to think about how good he was. I shook my head and forced myself to stop thinking about him. All this while he was just there...as calm as a cucumber. Maybe if he had said a simple good morning, although nothing was good about the morning...then maybe...just maybe I wouldn't have been so anxious. Wait... Why is he staring at me like that? What. did
