They moved in silence, going deeper into the belly of the Tower until the corridor narrowed and stretched toward a massive iron-gilded door. Torches flickered along the walls, throwing long shadows that writhed like serpents. The air felt heavier, making them all tense. Prince Ron could even hear his own heart pounding.

Nemyra’s eyes sharpened as she quickly noticed the guards hidden all around. They were up to seventeen. She turned, whispering urgently to Ron and the Enforcer. “Stay here. Don’t move until I’ve drawn them away. When the chance comes, go for the door. Get Thalindra out at any cost.”

Prince Ron nodded and held her hand, looking serious. “When you get the chance, run away. It is better to live and fight another day.”

Nemyra chuckled softly. “I'll keep that in mind.” She stepped into the corridor and shouted; “Enforcers!”

All the guards whipped around just as she lunged, her fist connecting with the helm of the closest one. He staggered backward, crashing into the wall

With a quick motion, he slammed it down on the guard’s head with all his strength. A crack sound rang through the entire cell. Prince Ron even winced at the sound, thinking he had hit the guard too hard but instead of crumpling to the ground, the guard straightened slowly, blood trickling from his temple. His hand tightened around the hilt of his sword as he unsheathed, his eyes burning with fury as he turned toward Ron.Prince Ron’s knees began to tremble. Ahhh, he really messed up. He should have waited until Thalindra was released. Ah, what should he do now? But before the guard could strike, they heard a loud clatter of chains.Thalindra had risen. Her eyes glowed and the chains around her whipped forward with terrifying speed. They looped around the guard’s throat, choking him. He thrashed, clawing at the links as his sword clattered to the floor. His eyes bulged and he began to cough, saliva drooling from the sides of his mouth for he couldn't even swallow. Tears streamed do

“That’s because you're not,” Nemyra replied, glaring at the Enforcer. “Lord Dareth called upon the weavers of Fate one day and asked them how he would die. They told him that he would meet his end at the hands of a True god and a Witch with fiery red hair. It isn't a prophecy. Some, like him,” she gestured at the Enforcer who was now staring at Ron in awe. “just made it out to be.”Prince Ron pressed his palms against his face, groaning. If that was how Dareth was going to meet his end, then they were in big trouble. He was not a witch. Neither was Zedekiel a True god. No wonder the evil god didn't really seem bothered about the issue. He must be thinking that there was no way he would die. Ugh, how were they supposed to win now? He shook his head. Now wasn't the time to doubt himself. One thing at a time. The Enforcer suddenly leaned forward earnestly. “Please, Chosen One. We have suffered for far too long. Let me help you. I can take you to where Lord Eron is being kept and even the

With the sound of footsteps came that of hysterical giggling. It threaded through the hall like a loose wire—high, breathless, and utterly mad, making both of them flinch. They edged closer to the corner and peered around it.A procession of Enforcers strode by, and trailing behind them, bound in heavy golden chains, was a god. He was stumbling and laughing like a maniac. He had long, shabby, dark hair which dragged down to his knees in tangled ropes, clearly unwashed and stinky. The garments he was wearing hung from his frame like sacks on a skeleton. They looked even worse than the tattered clothes of the gods about to vanish. His face was nearly unrecognizable, buried beneath a thick matting of hair and dirt. The only thing that made people know he was special were his set of vast, prismatic silver eyes which gleamed like liquid starlight.Prince Ron wondered just who this god was.The chains clinked against the floor as he shuffled, but he never stopped giggling.“For fuck’s sake,

One of the Heavenly Enforcers shifted, his gaze sweeping dangerously close to where they stood. Before he could move, Nemyra seized Ron by his wrist and yanked him into the shadow of a towering stone pillar. Her body pressed close, her breath hushed against his ear.“I know a secret entrace,” she whispered. “We can use that to get inside, but we have to be very, very quiet. Not a single word. Do you understand?”Ron swallowed hard and nodded quickly. He would of course not make any noise. Who in their right mind wanted to be roasted alive by heavenly lightning? Certainly not him.The Enforcer’s gaze swept past the pillar and moved on.Taking the opportunity, Nemyra tugged Ron along. They moved like shadows, using the stone pillars to hide from view, circling the vast tower until they reached its far side where the guards were fewer.Nemyra squatted and pressed her palm flat to the ground. With a soft rumble, the earth split open, revealing a dark passage descending beneath the tower.

Ron grinned proudly and Alaric smiled softly, relief shining in his eyes. At least they were getting somewhere. He glanced at Vathar, who was still fighting Dareth. It seemed like Vathar could hold on for a bit longer. Nemyra wiped at her tears, then straightened with a new resolve. She nodded firmly. “I’ll help you. I’ll help you to the very end.”If just Ron and Alaric’s sincere prayers could fill up half her essence, there was no telling what they could accomplish. Maybe, just maybe, they would even be able to win against Dareth. Ron and Alaric were both moved, by Nemyra’s new desicion. They both knew it wasn't easy for her considering she had been Dareth’s slave all these centuries. She had given up hope before but their prayers had renewed her hope. “We won’t let you down,” Prince Ron vowed. Besides, he had to do it if he wanted his beloved and everyone else back. For their sake, failure was not an option. “Okay.” Nemyra said with a smile. Prince Ron didn't even need to make
