FAZER LOGINThree hours earlier, Adrian exited his car and strolled into the company with a furious look on his face, exuding a menacing aura that made the employees in the reception instinctively shrink back in fear.
On stepping inside the elevator, he shoved his trembling, clenched fists into his pockets, struggling to keep his anger and, mostly, his frustration under control. Each breath he took was a battle. He had thought he would see Simona, or whatever her name was; he wanted to see her, but instead, he found only this chilling void of her absence, as if she had never existed at all. With a surge of emotion, he pulled his hand out and punched the unyielding metallic wall of the elevator, a guttural and exasperated groan escaping his lips. "How dare you, Simona!" he shouted, delivering another blow, his knuckles hurting and staining red against the metallic surface. âSir, please, calm...â Michael began, standing nervously behind his boss, but his voice faltered under the weight of Adrianâs frigid glare, which pierced through the tense atmosphere like a knife. With long strides, Adrian exited the elevator as the doors slid open on the CEO's floor and headed to his office. Dropping himself into his chair as soon as he entered. He roughly loosened his tie and passed a hand through his hair. For the first time since he became the heir of the Adams family, he didn't have control over something, and he hated it. At that moment, Michael entered the office and placed the file he was holding onto the desk. Adrian grabbed the file and opened it, staring at Simona's picture before shutting the file again. He felt his heart constrict as he gazed at her face. "I miss her,â the words sounded in his head effortlessly. Angry at his own emotions, he stood up abruptly. âHow the hell did this happen in my company?!" Adrian growled as he slammed Simona's file in his hand down on his desk angrily. âThree years, three damn years, and none of you knew she was an imposter. I fucking married her; I stayed with her in the same house for a year! What if she was a fucking spy?!" Adrian barked furiously. At Adrian's words, Michael looked at him as he thought inwardly. 'He was surprised to find out his boss married a woman whom he knew nothing about. Did he never consider meeting his wife's family to pay respect?' âSir, please try to remain calm. Our IT team is working on tracking the madamâs phone, and it wonât be long before we locate her,â Michael explained, hoping to calm down the raging man in front of him. He couldn't endure any more of Adrian's outbursts. There was a knock at the door, causing Michael to exhale a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. He made a hand gesture, beckoning the man outside the door to come in. âGood afternoon, sir,â the man greeted, his voice steady despite the tension in the air. Adrian, however, remained silent, lost in his own thoughts. Undeterred, the man continued, âThis is the madam's current location.â He placed the document he was holding on the polished wood desk in front of Adrian, who hurriedly reached for it, his heart racing in anticipation. However, his expression turned into a frown when he saw the addressâit was his own home. âWhat does this mean?â Adrian's voice was low and edged with confusion. âSir, that's where we've tracked the madam's phoneâin your house.â The words hung heavy in the air. Adrian nodded, dismissing the man with a wave of his hand as his thoughts ran wild. Has Simona returned to him? Or is she at his house to collect the rest of her belongings since she only took a few of her clothes the day she left? He has to see her and demand an explanation for why she deceived him about who she really was. ~~~ Thirty minutes later, Adrian's sleek black car glided to a halt in the driveway of his imposing mansion. He exited the car with a sense of urgency and hurriedly made his way into the house. On stepping inside, a maid dressed in her crisp uniform looked up from her duty and greeted him in a polite voice. âWelcome back, sir.â Adrian nodded curtly, his brow furrowed with a sense of unease. âWhere is my wife?â he asked, his voice edged with impatience. However, the maidâs expression shifted to one of confusion as she processed her boss' question but answered. âSir, the madam... She left a few weeks ago?â A frown creased Adrianâs forehead at the maid's revelation. Just then, Michael, who entered the living room in time to hear the tail end of the maid's words, turned to the maid and asked, âDo you mean the madam hasnât been here today?â âYes, sir,â the maid responded, her voice steady despite the tension that had suddenly filled the air. After a brief moment, Michael waved the maid off, sensing Adrian's rising storm of emotions. Adrian, feeling as if the walls were closing in around him, walked over to the plush couch and sank into it, his shoulders slumping under the weight of his thoughts. He ran a hand through his already messy hair, a mix of frustration and confusion etched on his face. âWhat is wrong with me?â he muttered to himself, his voice barely above a whisper. âI finally rid myself of her, yet why am I hurting?â The question hung in the air like a heavy fog, a bitter reminder of the turmoil that churned within him. Michael sighed, approached his boss, and sat down next to him. He had opened his mouth to speak when the sound of Adrian's phone ringing interrupted him. "Here, sir, it's Miss Helena,â Michael said, handing the phone to Adrian, who took the phone with his face looking nothing like the devastated man of a few seconds ago. âHelena?â Adrian muttered, raising his eyebrow at Helena's panicked voice. âAre you alright?â he asked, his voice filled with worry. âNo, I'm not. Where were you last night? I have been trying to reach you since morning, but you wouldn't answer.â Helena said in a teary voice, but then her eyes widened as if realizing something, and she asked in a broken voice. âAre you ignoring me?â Adrian sighed, realizing why he didn't answer Helena's call. Simona. He is acting like a teenager and not thinking with his mind but with his heart. What happened with Simona was a mistake; he shouldn't let it hinder his perfect life and lose track. If Simona had gone through all the trouble of changing her name and approaching him, he should focus on finding her and make her regret ever meeting him. âHelena, Iâm truly sorry; I promise it will never happen again. I love you.â Adrian said, his voice calm, hoping to soothe Helena's troubled heart. Helena's lips curled into a soft smile as she replied, âI love you even more. Guess what?â âWhat?â Adrian asked, intrigued. âIâm coming home in a month,â Helena squealed, her voice bubbling with excitement from the other end of the line, as if the very thought of their reunion filled her with an overwhelming joy. âOh, I can't wait to see you, my love.â Adrian said with a hint of sadness on his face and in his voice. âTake care; weâll talk later.â âSure, my love,â Helena responded, but as she hung up, her expression darkened. A creeping tension twisted in her gut, and as her finger slid across her phone screen, it left behind yet another crimson bloodstain, a chilling reminder of the hidden turmoil lurking beneath her cheerful facade. Both men froze, turning to look at the woman they were fighting over like a piece of territory. Anna was gripping the roots of her hair, her eyes wide, her breath coming in shallow, frantic gasps. âI am not going with anyone!â she cried out. âJust go, both of you! Get out of my sight!â She glared at them, tears finally spilling hot and fast down her cheeks. âA man is in there fighting for his life because he was standing next to me, and you two are out here having a pissing contest over who owns me. I am not property. I don't want your protection, Aiden, and I don't want your redemption, Adrian! You both bring me nothing but pain!â The brothers stood completely frozen, stunned into silence by Anna's outburst. For the first time, piercing through the thick haze of their blinding possessiveness and toxic alpha rivalry, a terrifying realization dawned on them both. In their desperate attempts to claim her, to be the ultimate man who protected her, they were entirely suffocating her.
The air smelled of antiseptic as Anna paced the empty corridor, her heels clicking a frantic, erratic rhythm against the polished floor. Her work clothes were ruined, stained with the dark, drying crimson of Patrickâs blood, her hands trembling uncontrollably at her sides.Every time she dared to blink, the horrific scenes played again behind her eyelids: the screech of tires, the black van, the cold barrel, and Patrick collapsing to the concrete, coughing up blood meant for her.The guilt was a heavy, suffocating weight pressing down on her chest, making every breath a battle.Patrick had taken those bullets. He was currently lying on an operating table, his chest probably cut open, fighting for his life. And why? Because of the man sitting rigidly on the uncomfortable plastic chair to her left.Aiden.The man she had almost yielded to the night before. The man who had whispered promises of patience. That same man had armed guards, hidden enemies, and secrets darker than she could ha
Annastasia's stomach grumbled, and she looked up at Simona, who was seated beside her explaining a cosmetic line to attach to their upcoming fashion week, feeling embarrassed. âLet's end today's meeting here," Simona announced, and all eyes around the long table moved to Anna. After all, Anna was their CEO, and they only listened to her words. Not her lousy secretary, who somehow believes she magically becomes the boss since she is the CEO's secretary. A few of the females rolled their eyes discreetly when they fixed on Simona's face briefly. Anna nodded, smiling. Everyone got up and left. After everyone was out, Simona said, âUmm. Let go, madam. I will treat you to lunch.â âNo, you don't have to do that. Let go; I will treat you.â Anna rejected Simona's offer politely. âI insist. Please consider it as a thank you for the hefty bonus you gave me a few days ago,â Simona insisted, her lips pulled into a pout. She didn't intend to let off the topic if Anna doesn't accept. âOkay
Patrick smiled, his eyes shining with mockery. â5 billion?â he repeated with disbelief. âIs that what my boss is worth in your eyes? You can do better than that.â âOkay, fine, I will double it, 10 billion. Thatâs my final offer,â Helena stated. Patrick smirked, reaching for his briefcase. He stood up and said to Helena, âCall me once youâre willing to offer more.â âWhat?â Helena exclaimed in disbelief, standing up. âAre you telling me 10 billion dollars isn't enough? That's a life-changing offer. Don't be avaricious,â Helena muttered, her voice degrading. Patrick finally took off his mask and laughed at her words. âIf someone among us is greedy, then that's you. I thought you were sensible enough to understand why I rejected your offer. I didn't expect you to go ahead and chastise me. I believe you need that more than I do.â Patrick stated politely and turned, walking away, but paused at the door and added in a threatening tone. âI recorded our conversation today. If something
Inside Aiden's dining room, Aiden looked at the face of the woman seated opposite him for the umpteenth time and sighed deeply, putting his spoon down and focusing all his attention on her.Anna, who had her head lowered as she ate, sensing Aiden's intense and piercing gaze on her, quickly reached for the glass of chilled orange juice she had requested from one of the maids to take a sip to calm down her souring nerves when Aiden spoke.âAnna, are you alright?â Startled by Aiden's voice, Anna's grip around the glass loosened, causing the juice to pour on her, and the glass dropped to the floor, breaking.âAnna!â Aiden exclaimed, getting up and rushing to Anna's side. She also abruptly stood up, embarrassed by her clumsiness, and took a step backwards, but she was scratched by a shard of glass and groaned painfully.âAnna, what is wrong with you! Can't you watch where you're going?!â Aiden snapped coldly, lifting her off the ground.Tears flooded Anna's eyes as she muttered dejectedly,
âWhat, no!â Anna blurted quickly, âAm I that gullible in your eyes?â she asked, disbelief etched on her face.âNo. But you love the man, and I witnessed how you two kissed the other day; had I not been thereâŠâ Diana explained, trying to redeem herself, but Anna interjected firmly.âHad you not been there, I would have been able to stop it like I did last night, Diana.ââWow, something almost happened between you two last night?â Diana asked, her curiosity piqued.âAlmost did, and I stopped it in time, but I can't take the guilt even now as I speak of it,â Anna confessed with a remorseful expression.âWhy allow it to happen in the first place?â Diana questioned.âBecause I was horny!â Anna cried, âI was too sensitive after an encounter with Adrian in the washroom earlier. I wasn't thinking straight. I bet Aiden now sees me as some loose woman,â Anna said, her voice trembling as hot tears began to stream down her cheeks.âAnna, dear, are you crying?â Diana asked gently, concern etched a
âNo, Aiden, don't come near me! I need my own room!â Anna yelled with determination in her voice.âAnna, is there something I should know?â Aiden couldn't help but ask, seeing Anna's pale expression."Nothing; I just need a separate room,â Anna said, and Aiden approached her. Stopping in front of h
Anna blinked, her lashes fluttering as she looked at Aiden like he had grown two heads as the wordsâWhat⊠what?!â slipped from her lips when Aiden's statement registered in her mind. âYou are joking, right?âAiden looked at Anna's face with a perplexed expression as he demanded,âWhy would I joke
Anna slowly turned, only to come face-to-face with Adrian. He smirked, his voice menacing as he asked,âDid you miss me?ââAdrian? Whatâwhat⊠are you doing?â Anna stuttered, taking slow steps backward when Adrian began to stalk toward her.âI miss you, babe, and I just want to spend some quality ti
It was a few minutes past 8 p.m. when Patrick made his way out of his office, but he frowned when he saw the light coming from Anna's office. He approached, and there she was, still working. He knocked on the door, and she asked him to enter. âWhy are you still here?â Anna asked him, and he respon
