FREDDY'S POV

The whiskey ran down my throat like wildfire.

I relished it. It was exactly what I needed right now.

That burns against my own feelings.

I sat, hunched over a half-full glass of whiskey, the half-full bottle just next to me.

I swirled the amber liquid, following the movement with my eyes as though the answer to everything lay somewhere in it.

Around me, laughter rang out.

"You wouldn't believe it. When she came up to me, I was dumbfounded. I thought there was no way in the world mamacita would be interested in me," Marcus said. He was recounting the story of a black haired beauty he had met at a rooftop party sometime last year. I had heard that story at least ten times, but Marcus was so smitten by this woman that he would not stop telling the story to whoever gave him a listening ear.

Worse, he refused to accept the fact that he was obsessed with her.

Caleb and Jake laughed hard at the little jokes he slid in here and there.

Kaelia's POV It had been days since the unexpected apology video went viral. My mom and TJ had said it was a relief that the woman had realized her wrongdoing and come publicly to apologize. Maybe that would deter other people. But I saw the terror in her eyes and I knew she had not done that simply because she ‘realized her wrongdoing’.Moreso, I didn't believe that just because one person has apologised, it meant that other people would realise they were being terrible. The internet did not forgive. They just waited for another chance to strike.I could almost feel them – staring at me, judging me – already plotting what they'd do to me, what they'd say if they ever met me in the street. That morning, I sat in a full-length dress – as was my style these days – scrolling aimlessly through the comments on the video. No matter how hard or how many times I promised myself I would not look, I always went back scrolling.‘I don't know, guys, something about it gives the impression t

Demi’s POV The video played endlessly on repeat. The woman sitting behind a huge desk, looking scared as hell, spoke, her voice trembling as she tabled her apology.“I honestly didn't mean any harm. I was wrong for recording her, wrong for posting. I didn't know who she really was, and I regret the pain I caused.”With a glass of wine swirling lazily in my hand, I leaned back against the couch. My lips curved into a small smile. “Of course you regret it now,” I said, my eyes narrowing into slots. “Freddy must have scared the living shit out of you.”I paused the video at the exact moment when the woman bowed her head. Anyone who looked closely enough could tell that the fear in her eyes was not caused by guilt. It was terror.I suspected that Freddy had cornered her and threatened the shit out of her, and that's why she was making this apology.I laughed. It was amusing to see that he was still protecting her. Even after everything she had done, he was still protecting that little s

Freddy's Pov It had been days. Days since I'd last seen Kaelia. Since I'd last walked out of her house.I didn't want to think about her. I told myself I'd wipe my hands clean of her, send her what she'd ‘earned’ and just live my life away from her.But lies were easy to say and hard to believe. Now, as I sat in my quiet office, I found myself replaying that damn video. The one Hannah has sent to me says ago. The one that had been circulating online. I clicked on the okay button again, and the frozen picture of Kaelia began moving. Not the bright Kaelia I knew, this one was a broken version. Her eyes looked tired, glossy with unshed tears. The woman's voice came, sharp and accusing, spitting venom as she called Kaelia a thief, a liar, and an impersonator. The camera was angled in a way that it captured all of Kaelia's expressions as the words settled in. Now this video was all over the internet. The world got to see her shatter. And God help me, it shattered me too.I pushed again

Williams POVThe study was quiet, apart from the faint occasional cackle from the fireplace.I sat on the leather chair, my whiskey untouched, and for the first time in a long time, alcohol could not soothe me. Carlos’s revelation still sat heavily in my chest. Kaelia was not just Freddy's unfortunate lover. She was my blood. I leaned forward and placed my elbow on the polished desk. I ran the other free hand down my face. She was the illegitimate daughter of my stepbrother.I could feel myself being dragged back to memories I thought I had successfully put behind me. Memories of my brother, George. George had been the golden son. He was the one who drew attention as soon as he walked into the room. Everyone adored him. Men wanted to work with him; women would do anything to get into his bed. He just had this Charisma I could never really compete with, no matter how hard I tried. And it stung more than anything. To see such a boy, just come in and try to take everything that w

  • Being Mr CEO's Bride   Chapter 104

Kaelia's POV On Wednesday, I decided it was time for me to get off the couch and finally take control of my life.I was languishing away, and Mom had started complaining about me moping. So I decided to get to the store and do some grocery shopping. So I grabbed my hoodie, pulled it over my head, and slipped out of the apartment with nothing but my phone and a set of keys. I didn’t even tell Mom. She was resting, and the last thing I needed was for her to start asking questions about where I was going. The morning air was cold and bit against my skin, but at least it was not suffocating. The streets were not busy either. Just a handful of cars here and there and a couple of people dragging shopping bags along. I mostly kept my head down, except when I got to places where I needed to keep my head up so I wouldn't bump into something.I had just turned around the corner, heading to the small grocery store where I had always done my grocery shopping before moving away, when it happe

DEMI'S POV The bar was quiet, almost empty now since it was the break of a few days. The light swirled over Freddy's face while his fingers hung lazily on a glass. He looked tired, worn out, but still beautiful in a way that made my heart ache. For over an hour, I had watched him. Watched the way his Adam's apple bobbed when he swallowed. How his shoulders seemed to hang a little more with each sip. He'd been like this for days. Drink all night, somehow manage to go to work the next day, come home and drink again. And it was starting to get irritating that he was still stuck on that thief. But tonight, I wanted something. I leaned forward, my voice smooth, coaxing. “Another round, Freddy. Come on. For old time’s sake.”He gave me a very disinterested look, but I was not fazed. He also did not resist as I signalled the bartender over to get some more drinks. The bartender placed the glass in front of him with a polite smile. I pushed it closer, my manicured fingers brushing agai
