Before Izzie knew it she was flung around, coming face to face with a strange male vamp. His deep red eyes raked hungrily over her, drinking her in as he held her still. He was only a little taller than her, though that didn’t give her any sort of advantage.
“Looks like I found the diamond in the rough,” he chuckled darkly. This repugnant beast reminded her exactly why she was a slayer, and why she loved her job so much. Ridding the world of vile creatures like him and saving innocent humans from being hunted like this. Witho
Fiancee. The word cut like a hot knife through her chest, making her draw an involuntary breath. The nauseous feeling from earlier suddenly resurfaced ten-fold. A lump formed in her throat as her heart shattered inside of her. There was a heat forming behind her eyes and she wasn’t entirely sure if it was anger or sorrow. Jealousy gripped her as she looked Vanessa up and down, her gaze finally halting on her occupied ring finger. There it sat, a delicate gold band that housed an obnoxiously large diamond. It was quite obviously very expensive given the sheer size of it, but on her finger, it just looked tacky (but maybe that was the jealousy talking.) It twinkled in the dim club lights, almost taunting her with its presence. She’d hoped this was just a sick joke that Cassius was playing, but there it was, clear as day for all to see.Despite all odds, Izzie had begun to feel a connection with him and had finally been able to admit to herself that she did care about him. All the time t
"Does that thing ever shut up?" Brad groaned at Izzie's phone as it flashed up with another annoying ding for what seemed like the hundredth time since they sat down, "When did you become so popular?"Izzie shot him a pointed look, before turning her attention back to her strawberry milkshake. The three of them had stopped off at a late-night burger joint, Brad and Izzie had grabbed a booth while Jake was still stood outside animatedly arguing with the taxi firm over the phone. The restaurant was f
Everything seemed to happen within a split second. They never stood a chance.Jake was slammed back hard against a tree, rendering him unconscious and Brad was grabbed and hurled out of the trees before a hand closed around Izzie's throat.
She screamed loud and hard as pain exploded from her neck. She could feel his lips curl into a twisted smile at the sound and she felt hot trickles begin to run down her neck. She felt weak as he yanked her head sideways, driving his fangs deeper into her flesh. She had never felt so helpless in her entire life. At least when the wolf had bitten her she had passed out almost immediately. Not this time.
Izzie froze as his lips connected with hers. A war was raging inside of her as her body began to defy her logic once again. Her lips moved gently against his, she wasn't entirely reciprocating what she was getting, but again she wasn't pushing him away either. Even if she wanted to push him away, she didn't think her body would allow it. This was wrong, Cassius was engaged, he'd played her.
Everything moved so quickly that Izzie could barely comprehend what was happening. Cassius' face contorted in pain before he was swiftly rolled off of her, crashing to the floor with Brad on top of him. Cassius had been far too engrossed in the moment to hear Brad's approach and Brad had managed to take him off guard. Izzie felt her heart drop as she saw Brad raise her dagger above his head. "No!" she screamed, lunging for the end of the bed, her hands grasping out wildly for the dagger, but it was too late. Brad was already bringing th
"Can't we just kill him?" Cassius asked for like the fifth time since they'd started this conversation, earning him yet another panicked look from, the now bound and gagged, Brad."No!" Izzie and Jake chorused, pacing past each other in front of the chair that held Brad. The two of them were racking their brains as hard as they could to try and think of a way out of this. Killing Brad wasn't an option, it was always big news if an Elite was killed in action and there would be an extensive investigation into his death. Elites were t
Izzie's eyes fluttered open as she was roused from her sleep by a rhythmic buzzing sound. There were signs of daylight peeking out from underneath the living room curtains, and she glanced at the clock only to see that it was already one in the afternoon. Last night had been all kinds of intense and she felt hung-over this morning, not just from the alcohol but also from the stress of it all. It appeared that they had fallen asleep where they sat, as she could see Jake sleeping soundly on the other side of the room. He was sat on the floor in the corner, propped up by the walls with his head resting on his shoulder. Brad was asleep on the chair that he was still bound to, his head thrown backwards and loud snoring emitting from his gaping mouth. The position didn't seem
