Fiancee.

The word cut like a hot knife through her chest, making her draw an involuntary breath.

The nauseous feeling from earlier suddenly resurfaced ten-fold. A lump formed in her throat as her heart shattered inside of her. There was a heat forming behind her eyes and she wasn’t entirely sure if it was anger or sorrow. Jealousy gripped her as she looked Vanessa up and down, her gaze finally halting on her occupied ring finger. There it sat, a delicate gold band that housed an obnoxiously large diamond. It was quite obviously very expensive given the sheer size of it, but on her finger, it just looked tacky (but maybe that was the jealousy talking.) It twinkled in the dim club lights, almost taunting her with its presence. She’d hoped this was just a sick joke that Cassius was playing, but there it was, clear as day for all to see.
