Evvie's POV:

The weight of the day felt heavier with each passing second.

I tried to distract myself, allowing the silence to seep into my mind. But I still couldn’t sleep. My thoughts kept drifting back to Zachary. Our history was one thing that haunted me constantly, and the thought of him being in my life again... It just felt so abrupt.

‘I wonder who’s to blame.” Vana muttered, and I mentally send her a glare.

‘I don’t see you trying to get us out of the situation.’ I huffed.

‘Why should we? In the first place, he’s our mate.’ She purred, and sometimes I just wished the moon goddess added some kind of button so I could shut her off.

Right now, she isn’t helping.

All my wolf had been whining about was him. Even my dreams were filled of his annoyingly handsome face, carved by the gods. He haunts me everywhere, which was why while I can’t fall into sleep, I was grateful.

I'm not clear about the challenge. Is it to the death since he challenged his alpha? Is she mates with BOTH of them? She was feeling sparks with Zach after she returned. Did her mark finalize the rejection & now it's just her heart that still feels for him? Brenda?? Too many things left unanswered.
