Chapter 57
Lily POV
Three weeks we have been waiting for Jared to wake up. Three weeks of increased anxiety. My wolf, Missy, has not been able to reach Jared’s wolf. We haven’t had any encouraging movements from him. No hints that he is waking. The tubes have been removed from his throat, so he is breathing on his own now. He simply isn’t waking up.
Rick has taken over running the Pack. We had to lay Alex and the other warriors to rest. We couldn’t wait any longer for Jared to wake up. We hadn’t wanted to tell him of our losses but we had to so he would know we were going forward with the traditional services for our lost. Not that we knew if he heard us or understood.

Lily POV After teary goodbyes with my family and Kate, I climb into the back of the SUV sent to pick me up to take me to Jared’s Pack. There were two warriors in the front seat. They acknowledged me as their Luna. I nodded to them and smiled, asking their names. We shared brief niceties and then they were talking about Pack business, which I knew little about. Jared POV I sit and wait in the main living room for Lily to get back home from her “date” with Beta Rick. Rick has been my best friend from the time we were pups but right now he is my least favourite person. I had paced for an hour and now I had decided to sit and calm myself. I had to keep reminding myself this was my fault and not Lily or Rick’s. As I finally hear footsteps coming up the stairs, I stand up waiting for the door to open. I hear Lily laughing as she and Rick walk in, Rick telling her some story that has her in stiches. As they walk in, Lily turns to Rick, “Thank you Rick. This is the best night I have had in a long time, and for a first night at the Black Shadow Pack, it turned out alright,” she concludes.
