Amelia pov

The ride to the engagement hall was the longest ride I had ever encountered in my life, and worst of all, rain pounded the windows in heavily.

I had to pause for a while and take a deep breath, reminding myself that I was pregnant and even though I was passing through pain, this baby was the only thing I had that was mine.

The hall was filled with so many people, his family, whom he only showed me through photos, his business associates, and friends. Everyone was there. Journalists had gathered at the entrance of the gate, taking photos of people as they entered the house.

Everyone seemed to be busy, to get through would even be hard, I looked like a nobody, and felt empty. Who would notice a small girl whose hair looked so scattered like it had undergone intense pulling, bloodshot red eyes, and washed jeans? My size was not even helping matters.

To bring the whole attention to me, I walked up to one of the journalists, with our marriage frame in my hand, together with my pregnancy text, and tapped him.

He paused for a while. "How may I help you?" he asked as he took a full glance at me.

Tears flowed from my eyes again before I gathered enough strength and looked at him.

Pulling out our marriage photo in front of him, I looked him in the eye. "I am the wife of Daniel Forbes. We have been married for five years, and I am pregnant with his child," I said.

His eyes moved from me to the marriage photo, and then to the text and the marriage certificate I was holding in my hand. "Are you sure?" he asked as he led me to the corner of the hall.

"Yes. He said we should have a secret marriage and that he would tell the world when he is ready," I said.He looked at me and exhaled sharply before walking me back to where the journalist sat down, tapped three of them and whispered something in their ear, their attention immediately turned to me.

"Start talking" with all their attention turned towards me. I raised the marriage photo for them to take a good look at and began my speech.

"My name is Amelia Kingsley, daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Kingsley. I met Daniel as my boss, and I loved him from afar; it was just some stupid crush.

He was dating Ashley at that time, so I felt I had no chance, and I was okay, admiring him from afar. And then she left him, she took half of his money, and went to marry an Italian billionaire who had a large amount of money.

As expected, Daniel was heartbroken, and I comforted him. Little by little, we started talking, and sooner than later, he confessed his love to me and asked me to marry him. And I foolishly agrreed," I said and paused, the tears were already flowing from my eyes, and I did not bother hiding it. There was no need to hide such tears.

"It never occurred to me that he was using me for some rebound; he saw me as someone who had a crush on him and played with my emotions. For some reason, I could not get pregnant until recently, and I don't blame anyone.

I would never do such. But in five years, I transferred my trust fund to his name. So tell me, is it fair for you to get married to a girl, waste her life, allow your mother to call her barren and other names, take her whole trust fund, get her pregnant, and leave her without a word?" I paused to see the effect of my speech.

The paparazzi had already gathered around me, camera clicking here and there as some took notes as whispers filled the crowd. More tears rolled down my cheeks as I asked, "Is it fair to use someone who you claim to love like some tool that you can just throw away. Or did he forget that I am human, that I am somebody's child, and that…”

"AMELIA! What the hell do you think you are doing here!" Margert, Daniel's mother, shouted as she made way through the crowd.

Immediately, she went to where I was, she slapped me, " How dare you? You gold-digging slut. How dare you come and try to pin a man-child on my son?"

I chuckled lightly as I rubbed my cheeks. I turned to her with a raised eyebrow, "So now I am a slut. After your son used my ideas and money to build his company, I am now a slut. Your grandchild is now someone else's right?" I asked as I shook my head.

She nodded, a deep frown on her face. "Yes."

I smiled at her, all the insults and bad names she had called me came flowing back to me, "You are indeed shameless, stupid, and a hypocrite. The fact that I found myself feeling so bad that you called me barren, forgetting that you too have no child, is that Daniel introduced me to his surrogate mum. Between you and you, you are the barren one," I said, pointing at her.

"AMELIA!" my lovely husband shouted, his widowed heartthrob by his side.

I turned to him with a plastered smile, "Man of the hour. You look so dashing, more handsome than you were on our wedding day."

He walked up to me, his jaw clenched with anger as a vein throbbed to explode from his neck. "What the hell are you doing?" he asked, glaring at me.

"I am telling the world that you are a spoilt, heartless adultress. It is called, Introduction to the Real Daniel Forbes. I should turn this into a podcast. What do you think?" I asked.

"You just made the worst mistake of your life," he said and pulled out his phone before turning to the camera.

"I sincerely don't know where this image came from, this marriage certificate was forged, and this woman here has been the one pinning over me. She was my secretary, and we had our fun time as two consenting adults, but I never got married to her or blackmailed her in any way, and that thing is not mine. She told me that she was barren and could not give birth. Please ignore her," he said.

My eyes widened as I stared at the man whom I had once called my husband, denying me in the open, and even calling me a slut, making it look as if I were a cheating whore.

Before I could say anything, he opened his phone and showed the media a video of me, in the office, walking towards him and crossing my legs over his.

His voice came from the phone, "What do you think you are doing, Amelia?" he asked.

"Seducing my boyfriend," my low, seductive voice filled the air.

"I am not your boyfriend," he said, even though his hands were unbuttoning my shirt.

I rolled my eyes." Oh please, we fuck now and then, you have fucked me so many times in this same place that you hold meetings with your partners. We are a couple," I said, and sealed his lips with a kiss.

He pulled back for a while, his eyes already filled with desire. "You're such a spoilt brat," he whispered in my ear.

"And you love it, don't you?" I asked.

He pulled the phone away and turned to them, "Can you see who she is. I would never marry someone like her. She threw herself at me and made it look like I was the one who wanted her. Who do we call someone who can't control a sexual urge even at the office?" he asked and looked at me, "a whore."

Tears welled up in my eyes. That video was taken a long time ago, and he kept it. He kept the video for what he knew a day like this would come. Was this a plan all along? The video had made me look like I was a cheap slut while it was the other way round.

He turned to me and walked towards me, his dark, evil eyes pinned on me as he leaned and whispered. "You were just for fun, Amelia, and don't ever lie about being pregnant because I mixed your smoothie with a birth control drug. There is no way you can get pregnant," he said and pulled away before smiling. Ashley stood in front of me, the whole media taking photos as they kissed in front.

I found it hard to believe that my husband had been the cause of my pain. He manipulated me, and he never wanted to have a child with me.

He manipulated me.

He used me.

I watched as they both turned to look at me before walking away. I was left there, transformed, surprised at the turn of event.

His mum, seizing the opportunity, immediately pulled me by my hair and threw me into the rain. My head hit the flow as a sharp pain settled on my tummy. My eyes were already heavy, too heavy with pain, sadness, and betrayal, and the painful realization that I meant nothing to the man for whom I sacrificed my life.

With the heavy throbbing in my forehead and the pain on my head, I closed my tired eyes and wished for death

Amelia POV"Seattle Hospital, room 24."That was what the text said. I tried so hard to understand what was happening.Would Ashley even know that Daniel was the one who did it and not his mum?I stop at the receptionist's desk. She gives me a warm smile. "Ma'am, who are you here to see?""Ashley. Ashley Lockwood. I am her sister-in-law."She nods slowly and types on her laptop. "She is on the second bed. Take a turn to the right."I nod, smiling at her. "Thank you."I put on my face mask and walk towards the ward. The strong smell of drugs and antiseptic hits my nostrils. The last time I walked through the walls of a hospital willingly was when my grandma had died. The last time I was here, I was brought in unconscious and left without my child. It was strange that I was walking toward the same woman who had made me lose my child. My hand moves to my stomach. I can still feel the emptiness that came with it.I push the door open, smiling at the first patient, and then move to the nex

Amelia POVImmediately Daniel walks out of the door, I zero my gaze to Ivan."Please tell me you are not working with Kayden."He snorts, ignoring me as he takes a seat. My anger boils within my veins. I can feel myself getting riled up with every minute that passes."Ivan, I asked you a question. Are you working with my husband?""No," he answers.Nonchalantly, like he is discussing the cool weather."No? So tell me, how did you know about Daniel and Ashley? How did you get the cameras? How did you know he was the one, and most importantly, why did you not tell me about it?"He takes a piece of paper lying on the table and folds it into a boat. A paper boat.He knows he is getting on my nerves and he is clearly savouring the moment. He turns to me with the boat in his hand. "You used to be very good at crafting boats."I roll my eyes. "Every child could make a boat out of paper. Don't disgust me."He nods slowly and cocks his head slightly. "And you never made just one boat, Amelia.

Daniel POVI let out a short laugh. "Ashley?" I ask.The old man stares, still looking at me, not blinking an eye."What do you mean I put Ashley in Amelia's car? I would never ever do that."This has to be some crappy lie because I remember leaving Ashley at home, in the room, the same room with the boy that my mum had made me kill. He was unconscious. I always stab a little place by her hands to make sure she is alive, and she is alive but unconscious. So there is no way that would ever happen. I would never do that.Besides, this deal is a very important aspect of my life.It is a way to get me out of poverty and also make me closer to Amelia, which has been my goal.Except…Wait. I turn to him. "Old man, are you trying to frame me?" I ask."It's Ivan," Amelia cuts in, her voice stern, more cold than usual.Fuck! She is angry.Just when I thought I had made a step closer to gaining her trust, this man comes in and tries to frame me.I brush her response off. I walk towards where he

Amelia POV“You would be assisting me. Making sure that we stay a lot and then release a publication to the press that you don't have a new consignee and that the words your mum has published were pure defamation of the character definition,” I toss the contact towards Dnaile who is sitting opposite me, tapping his hands against the table continuously. He looks at the paper and then at me, his eyes carrying some deceitful warmth. “No”I pause “What?”“I said no.” He sits up, staring directly at me. “You want me to work for you? Fine. I would do that. I would forever be at your service to redeem myself for what happened years ago. But this…” He pauses, pointing at the agreement.“It's basic”I almost laughed. How the hell did an agreement become basic in any way whatsoever?“It was an agreement Daniel. Stand by your words for once and sign the papers. Don't get me angry, okay?”He nods “I know you want me to sign the papers, and I would sign them, but I want it to be amended. I need i

Kayden POV“Turns out he is sicker than he looks” I toss a box of cigarettes to IvanHe stares at it and shakes his head. The old man thinks people who smoke will die in a month. He picks it up and throws it at me “You know I don't some Kayden”I laugh shaking my head “No, I don't know that. But I do know that you are a recovering addict which is why your idea of an addict dying early is so funny, because then you would be dead and not here”He tolls his eyes and heaves a sigh. He sits upright, his eyes meeting mine “Are you going to tell her”“What?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.“You know what I mean. Are you going to tell Katherine that Daniel was not the one who sent her to jail, nor is he the one who caused the fire?”I shrug “No” I say without mincing words. He scoffs. I know he is about to rain on me with some fake fatherly advice about trust and all. But I have made up my mind.Amelia is mineWould stay mine no matter what happens. And I would make it happen. No matter what it

    Kayden POVThere are two things I hate more than anything. One, a coward who thinks he is the most clever soul ever.Two, a mafia don who steps on my toes.And here is the thing about me: people whom I hate never ever survive.My eyes are on his neck, like those of Dmitri, as he takes a pretentious sip of the wine we served him.The glass is on his lips while his eyes are on my chest. Thinking of a way to find out if I have a bulletproof vest or not.We have been doing these for the last thirty minutes. Since I asked, “Who should I kill first? Your men or you." He finally clears his throat. “You see, that is a bold statement for someone who came here with no one with him. "Nobody"“And need I remind you that you are in my territory, in my given house?” I ask, my eyes not leaving his.He nods and takes a good glance at the house. “This is a shit hole and not a house. You know where your house is. It is in London with your beautiful wife, whom we have under our eyes. You hurt me, man;
