Try To Comfort

[Massimo’s POV]

I stare at Tatiana, trying to make sense of what is going on. Why is she agreeing to our father’s words without even the slightest reservation?

I noticed the moment she walked in the room that she didn’t look too well, but I didn’t think too much about it. However, with the way she was acting, I was certain that something was up.

"Then it’s settled," Giovani beams. "We will hold an engagement banquet a month later."

"Perfect," my father agrees. "Now, why don’t you kids spend some time together while these old men talk?"

Nodding, I get up and wait as Tatiana continues to remain in place. From the look on her face, it is clear that she has a lot on her mind, and once I got her alone, I was going to figure out what it was, especially since I was now involved.

"Come on," I whisper gently, reaching out and grabbing her hand. "I’ll take you somewhere nice."

"Okay."

It’s all she says as she wraps her tiny, shaking hand in mine and allows me to pull her up so that I can lead h
