Laura's head hung forward. Her body felt like lead. Every breath was a struggle.

The shadow chains had been draining her for hours. Maybe days. Time didn't mean anything in this twisted place.

Her wrists were raw and bloody where the metal bit into her skin. The shadow magic burned like acid in her veins.

She was so tired. So damn tired.

Laura didn't look up. She knew that voice. The one that had haunted her nightmares.
