Sawyer took a deep breath, feeling like a heavy weight was lifted from his shoulders after hearing her words.

"Thank you, Abby." He smiled at her and hit the gas pedal.

The vehicle slowly began to move again.

"Okay. Tell me, where do you live?" Sawyer asked, focusing on the street ahead.

Abigail asked him to return to the café because she didn’t remember her new house address; she only remembered how to get there from the café.

Fifteen minutes later, Sawyer’s vehicle stopped in front of Abigail’s house. He was stunned beyond words when he saw the gates.

After a few seconds, Sawyer, trying to suppress his shock, turned to her.

"Is this where you live now?" he asked.

"Yes, I’m staying here..." Abigail answered excitedly. She wanted to invite him to stop by. Still, a second later, she remembered the rental contract rule stating she couldn’t bring her friends or family onto the rooftop.

Sawyer said nothing but silently looked at her beautiful smile as she spoke.

"Thank you so much for the coffee and the ride, Sawyer. I appreciate it." Her smile grew wider, making Sawyer’s heart race.

"Don’t mention it," he waved his hand while smiling at her. "Nice place to stay, Abby. But this place looks expensive, right?" he asked.

"Ugh, well, you might misunderstand. This is not my house, and I’m not renting the house entirely. I only rented the rooftop for a year," Abigail hurriedly explained. She was worried that Sawyer might misunderstand that she had a house in this expensive place.

"I see..." A barely noticeable smile appeared on his lips before he asked, "Since when have you been living here?"

"I’m moving in this morning."

Sawyer turned his gaze back to the massive gate. He still remembered this girl saying she might be homeless because she was leaving her ex-fiancé’s house.

"I’m glad you finally found a place, Abby," he sincerely congratulated her. At least now, she doesn’t have to stay in an Airbnb. It is not safe for a woman like her to stay alone there.

"Thanks. I’m so lucky the owner suddenly moved to another city and left the brand-new place for me to stay," Abigail smiled as she recalled how salty Mr. Peters was this morning to rent his new place to her.

"You are indeed lucky. I hope you won’t have to pay much to rent a place here," Sawyer said, concerned.

"Hahaha, I know, right? My luck finally returned after what happened to me in the past few days. Well, no worries, the rental f*e is pretty cheap. The homeowner seems to know I’m in—" Her voice trailed off, and she decided not to share her financial trouble with him.

Sawyer didn’t want to ask her further, even though he knew what had happened to her. "Glad to hear that. If, in the future, you have a problem, don’t hesitate to call me."

"Thanks, Sawyer." Abigail felt her heart race, hearing his sincere words. Worried she might flatter, she hurriedly excused herself, "I will go now. Thank you for the ride."

"Can I stop by your house?" Sawyer casually asked, but Abigail felt tense upon hearing that.

"Sawyer, I’m so sorry. The homeowner forbade me from bringing guests or family over," she faintly smiled at him.

Sawyer was impressed to hear her words, "Aah, so there’s a rule like that?"

"Yeah. That’s why I can’t let you enter. If you want to meet me, we can meet at the café. Or, you can call me if you pass by this area."

"Sure."

As soon as Abigail stepped out of the car, Sawyer’s smile vanished, and his expression slowly darkened. His sharp eyes remained fixed on Abigail as she entered the small door.

Instead of rushing to move his car, he took out his cell phone and made an urgent call.

The call connected on the first ring and a man’s voice could be heard from the other end, who was greeting him politely.

"Hello, Ethan. Tell me, how is Abigail Snow living in my house?" Sawyer asked calmly but firmly. His gaze towards his house gate clearly shows he is also confused.

"Sir, this..." Ethan’s voice sounded too tense to respond. Instead of answering, he asked, "Sir, I’m sorry for asking this. But how do you already know about it? Did Miss Abigail tell you?"

"Ethan, what are you doing?! Don’t try to confuse and distract me with your foolish questions! Just answer my question," Sawyer said, visibly and soundly annoyed.

Sawyer still remembered his last conversation with Ethan. He didn’t ask him to find a place for Abigail, so why was the girl living in his house now?freewёbnoνel.com

And as far as he knew, his assistant Ronan was the one who occupied the rooftop above his house.

’Does Abigail also know Ronan? Are they living together upstairs? Why didn’t Ronan say anything about it?’ So many questions were now dancing in his mind, confusing him even more.

Thinking Abigail knew Ronan and that they might be living together under the same roof was enough to annoy Sawyer.

"Sir, Boss..." Ethan nervously answered. "You are still aware that you sent Brother Ronan to Sunset Bay City, right?"

"What does that have to do with Abigail living on the rooftop?" Sawyer asked curtly.

"Sir, when I found out that Miss Abigail was having trouble finding a place to live, I remembered Ronan had to leave the house and move to another city. So, I took the initiative to arrange for Miss Abigail to rent his new place..."

Then, Ethan explained lengthily about how he convinced Ronan to rent his house to someone who could clean and care for the room he left. Once Ronan agreed, he made sure the realtor was informed.

"This morning, Miss Abigail met Ronan; they signed a contract deal. And just like that, now Miss Abigail is the tenant on the rooftop..." Ethan finished his explanation, feeling guilty.

When he heard nothing from Sawyer, Ethan added, "Sir, I’m sorry if I arranged something for Miss Abigail without consulting or asking for your consent. I just felt sorry for her. And also because I can see that you were attracted to her."

Hearing Ethan’s last words was enough to make Sawyer feel like he’d been struck by lightning.

’Am I attracted to her?’ Sawyer wondered, pinching his eyebrow.
