"Abby, thanks for the latte. I’m looking forward to another latte from you."

A faint smile slowly emerges on her lips as she reads Sawyer’s text message.

She immediately replies to his text:

"You’re welcome, Sawyer. Give me a call, or you can visit me at the café. I promise I’ll make you a better latte."

Abigail hesitated before sending the text. She read it over several times, ensuring her words didn’t reveal her true intentions of wanting to meet him.

After a moment, she deleted the long text and simply replied, "Sure, Sawyer."

As she entered the house, a faint smile appeared on her face.

It still felt surreal to her to be in such a luxurious house. She felt proud of herself for having this house all to herself, without sharing it with anyone like her ex.

"You did a good job, Abby!"

Her happy, proud smile appeared on her lips as she walked toward the kitchen to check what she could eat without cooking too much.

Although she was skilled at cooking, Abigail didn’t intend to do it. She felt completely drained of energy and utterly exhausted. She just needed to eat something, take a bath, and sleep.

Abigail spotted a ready-to-eat pizza in the fridge that only needed heating. All the groceries she had seen in the morning were still there, waiting for her to consume them.

She felt even more sorry for Mr. Peters, who had to leave his house in a hurry.

***

After showering and changing into comfortable home clothes—shorts and an oversized sweatshirt—Abigail hurried to the kitchen to prepare her pizza and some fruit.

A few minutes later, she sat on the cozy dark navy sofa in the living room, enjoying her dinner.

She didn’t bother watching the movie playing on the flat-screen TV in front of her, as her eyes were now focused on the laptop on her lap.

This was the first time she had looked at her work since what happened with the Urbangrid Innovation. She wanted to know what had happened and why Mr. Bennet was eager to meet her to discuss the house design.

After scrolling through dozens of unread emails for a few minutes, she finally found an email from Mr. Bennet’s secretary, Amelia Walker.ƒrēewebnovel.com

As she read the email, Abigail finally understood why Mr. Bennet insisted on meeting her. He wanted to build another house and needed her to be the architect for this new project because he already liked her design.

Shaking her head slowly, Abigail took a deep breath while biting into the last slice of her pizza.

"Last bite? Wow... why did I eat this much?" Abigail was speechless to realize she had already eaten six slices.

She felt amused looking at the empty plate. Even her fruit bowl was empty.

Sighing deeply, she rubbed her belly before refocusing on her laptop to continue reading Mr. Bennet’s demands and his offer.

Now, she understood. If she didn’t appear at their meeting in two days, Mr. Bennet would cancel the first project, the One Million project.

"No wonder Ryland went crazy. He would have lost the money if I hadn’t shown up. He was even willing to drive three hours to Orange Town and use Grandma to find me..."

Abigail couldn’t help but smile. However, her smile gradually faded when she remembered Ryland’s last text, his threat to tell Grandma about their relationship.

She immediately put the laptop aside and looked for her cell phone in the bedroom. She needed to call Aunt Rosa and ask about her Grandma’s condition.

If possible, she planned to revisit Orange Town to tell her Grandma the truth about her failed relationship with Ryland. She wouldn’t let that damn Ryland use her Grandma to force her into attending the meeting.

Her business with Urbangrid Innovation was over, and if she got involved again this time, she was sure something like this would come up again sooner or later. Now, she clearly knew how shameless and selfish Ryland was in achieving his goals to bring his company to success.

Abigail found her phone almost fully charged. She unplugged it and returned to the living room.

However, she noticed the clock on her phone screen before she could look for Aunt Rosa’s number.

She could only take a deep breath, realizing it was almost midnight. It wouldn’t be polite to contact Aunt Rosa at this hour.

Sinking into the sofa, she gazed at the city view through the glass window, lost in her thoughts as she tried to find a solution to her problem.

Abigail had thought her life would improve after she ended her engagement with Ryland, but it wasn’t that simple. He didn’t make it simple; he still made her suffer as if his betrayal was not suffering enough for her.

The loud sound of the digital clock’s alarm broke the silence and instantly woke Abigail up. Her eyes were slightly open as she stared at the ceiling.

Although she just woke up from her sleep, she’s still tired. It felt like she still hadn’t gotten enough sleep because last night, her mind was too preoccupied and restless to make peace with. She had been busy thinking of a way out of her problem.

After a few more seconds of trying to gather her mind, she turned to look out the window. She could see a faint light from the slightly ajar curtain.

Abigail sighed softly as she got up and turned off the loud alarm clock.

The room became silent again.

Her head felt like it was splitting, and her eyes were heavy and difficult to open, as if someone had just glued them shut. Despite this, she forced herself to get up and dragged her legs to the bathroom. She didn’t have the luxury of slacking off today—many things needed to be done this morning. Slow morning is a luxury, indeed.

However,

Before Abigail could enter the bathroom, she faintly heard a knock on the front door. Her steps halted as she tried to confirm whether she had misheard or it was just her imagination that someone had visited her so early.

He must have something else to go and to do, right!?"Abby?" Sawyer’s gentle voice snapped Abigail from her thoughts. "Please get in. Sawyer handed her the takeaway paper bag containing the cup holder she had given him earlier.Abigail nodded and immediately took the paper bag. She thought he wanted to unbuckle his seatbelt, but as usual, she could never predict what this man was about to do."So, how much is the coffee?"
