Abigail was puzzled. Her house was only a few minutes’ walk away.

It would be troublesome if she rode in his car and made him drive her home. He must have something else to go and to do, right!?

"Abby?" Sawyer’s gentle voice snapped Abigail from her thoughts. "Please get in. Is there something or someone you are waiting for?"

Seeing his confused expression, she quickly got in and sat beside him. This was her second time sitting in his car, and she felt much more relaxed.

After buckling up her seat belt without being asked, she looked at him.

"Abby, would you mind holding this for me, please?" Sawyer handed her the takeaway paper bag containing the cup holder she had given him earlier.

Abigail nodded and immediately took the paper bag. She thought he wanted to unbuckle his seatbelt, but as usual, she could never predict what this man was about to do.

"So, how much is the coffee?" Sawyer asked while taking out his wallet, ready to reimburse the money she had spent for the coffee.

Abigail immediately waves her hand, signaling her refusal.

"No need, Sawyer. It’s the least thing I can do for you after giving me a free ride out of Orange Town."

She owed him too much. Even her life was in his hands now. How could she ask for a meaningless few bucks?

"Alright. If you insist, I won’t refuse. Thank you for the coffee, Abby—" Sawyer smiled slightly. He returned his wallet and started the car.

"My pleasure..." Abigail softly said, turning her gaze away and looking at the street ahead. She tightly clenched the paper bag.fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

"Abby, as you know, I ordered two lattes. One of them is for you. Can you place my coffee on the holder?" he said, pointing to cupholders in the car’s center console.

Abigail was taken aback hearing his words. She asked, "Sawyer, one coffee for me?"

"Yes, drinking my coffee alone won’t be fun. So, I ordered another cup for you on purpose," Sawyer casually said, leaving Abigail speechless.

If she had known he ordered a latte for her, she would have made it a little sweeter, as she liked sweet lattes. But she couldn’t refuse his kind gesture.

"Thank you for the coffee, Sawyer..." She took one of the coffees, and instead of placing it on the cupholder as he asked, she handed it to him and said, "You should drink it now. It tasted best when the ice cubes hadn’t melted and ruined the taste."

Abigail thought Sawyer would take the coffee with his hand, but her heart almost stopped when she saw his head lean closer. He slurped a bit of the latte in the cup while still in her hand, with his eyes focused on the street ahead.

’My goodness, what is he doing? And how could he do it while looking so relaxed!?’ Abigail held the cup tightly while trying to keep her breath, worried the coffee cup would hit his face if she moved.

"Thank you, Abby. You must be a great barista. I have never tasted café latte this delicious before," Sawyer said while glancing at her with an apparent beaming smile.

"Really?" Abigail asked. She doubted his praise. "I thought the taste had slightly gone bland after a few minutes," she said.

"No, it still tastes excellent."

Abigail frowned slightly while trying her coffee, too. With only one sip, she knew the taste was no longer there, as the ice had already melted. She chuckled and turned to see him.

"Well, Sawyer, thank you for the unusual compliment," she smiled at him. "But this isn’t the right taste. Next time, I’ll make it for you again, a better one."

"Seriously, you don’t believe me? I’m being honest here, Abby..." Sawyer said sincerely. When he heard nothing from her, he continued, "But, if you insist, I won’t refuse. I love to taste whatever you make for me."

Abigail no longer paid attention to his last words because she realized this man had driven away from her house—his car was going opposite her home.

’Geez, this man. Does he even know where I live?’

She turned to see him, "Sawyer, do you know where my house is?"

Sawyer was stunned to hear her question. Glancing at her, he clearly saw a suspicious look in her eyes.

The car slowly stopped at the side of an empty street. Sawyer turned to see her with an apologetic expression.

"Oh, Abby, I’m sorry. Please don’t look at me like that. I’m not trying to do something bad to you," Sawyer said before he sighed deeply and rubbed his eyebrow; he felt like a fool.

Abigail smiled but said nothing.

"I got carried away chatting about coffee with you and forgot to ask where you live," Sawyer continued. He couldn’t count how often he felt like a fool whenever he came into contact with her.

Earlier, when he visited the building next to her cafe, he unknowingly texted her to order coffee, even though he didn’t like coffee.

After seeing her, he impulsively offered to drive her home despite not knowing where she lived.

Sawyer felt as though Abigail was driving him crazy, and he didn’t understand why he felt this way. It was the first time he’d experienced this, and he was unsure how to handle it.

Abigail stifled a laugh when she saw his worry.

"Sawyer, don’t worry. I’m not suspicious or thinking bad of you," she said, smiling as she looked away, afraid she would melt from seeing his sincerely worried and guilty expression.

Even though she only met him briefly, she found herself in a good mood when she was with him. Moreover, she is also distracted from her depressing and terrible past relationship with Ryland when Sawyer is by her side.

From the day she met Sawyer, she didn’t feel any danger around him—instead, his smile had flattered and relaxed her a few times.

However, the pain of her failed relationship with Ryland made her reluctant to pursue any relationship with anyone else. She tried hard not to give her heart a chance to fall for this man because she was worried that her fragile heart wouldn’t be able to handle another heartbreak.
