Verity sat on the edge of the bed, tears streaming down her face, as she waited for Nero to arrive. The room was silent except for the sound of her quiet sobs, which echoed off the walls. She tried to compose herself, but her emotions were too overwhelming.

She couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as she waited for Nero to walk through the door. Uncertainty gripped her as she pondered whether the gentleman would receive the news she had uncovered with open arms or not.

The physician advised her to take a respite at home for a minimum of three days before resuming her work duties. She stood there, at a loss for words, unsure of how to convey the tumultuous thoughts swirling within her. Her mate looked at her expectantly, waiting for an explanation that she was unable to provide.

Verity's conviction was unwavering; she knew that the device before her was indeed a bomb and that its detonation would only serve to heighten Nero's already mounting anxiety.
