FIVE DAYS LATER

What does a man have to do to get some piece I said under my breath as I hung up the phone, it was eight in the morning and I was already getting bad news

My company was going to get evicted today at 12:00 am if I didn't pay off my debt

What now I said as my phone rang again, frustrated I picked it up praying it wasn't my cousin calling to tell me more bad news because I had enough to deal with already, and as if my prayers were being tormented it was his father" Uncle Winston

Uncle " I said as I picked up the phone preparing myself for the long lecture ”

My dear nephew what have you gotten yourself into this time around he said with a serious tone that told me he already knew everything ”

Nothing worth worrying about' I said in a tired tone tossing myself on the sofa”

Why didn't you tell me what Gabriel did he said  infuriated ”

Uncle why are you getting worked up over nothing, he isn't even worth mentioning" I said too drained to listen to him talk bad about my father

Forget it uncle It's already done, I didn't want to bother you with all my problems as I know your hands are tied I said

It doesn't matter Scott you forget that we are family, bother me all you want otherwise what will my sister think of me if I don't help my own niece he said with a dry chuckle ”

Uncle I'm an adult I can handle my problems myself I said in serious tone

Who says adults don't need any help, it's not a crime to ask for help you know he said suddenly becoming serious like a parent”

Nephew" I know I may not be able to help you because of that stupid contract your father tricked me into signing, I know that if I did he would take it as an opportunity to sue me of everything I've got, but that doesn't mean I'll sit back and do nothing especially when this mess was created by that dumb boy Andrew" he said sounding defeated and at the same time enraged by the situation

I know..it's okay uncle I'll think of something I said rubbing my temple getting tired of the conversation ”

How will you fix it when the eviction is in less than five hours he said stating the obvious as if I didn't know already”

Uncle.. I'm tired right now we'll talk about this  another time I said looking at the time on my watch, the conversation was lasting longer than I had anticipated and I couldn't wait to end it,

Why the haste nephew, I didn't call to deal with your grumpiness Scott, in fact I called to let you know a friend of mine who has seen your potential and the success of your company was deeply touched by the situation you're facing, so touched that he is willing to give you the financial stability you need to solve your problem, in fact he's offering to take you under his wing if you would like.. he said in a sly tone trailing off”

Deeply touched, potential ' it sounded too good to be true, that's why I was even sure that there was a catch behind this generous offer this friend of his had to offer”

Uncle' may I know the name of this friend of yours I asked suspiciously the suspense killing me ”

Walter Blackrose I assume you already know him, his daughter is the one I asked you to give a tour last night he said"

Yeah I do I said rembering the unpleasant words we exchanged last night, I guess fate had a strange way of playing games, the daughter refused to hear me out but the father was offering his help, something was definitely suspicious

How much interest does he want in return I asked knowing very well a business man like him would expect to profit more from an investment like this or whatever he called it ”

You don't have to worry yourself about that because he's not loaning it to you consider it a generous gift he said his words trailing off giving me the feeling he wasn't telling me the whole thing ”

But.. he said trailing off again which was pissing me off, he knew I didn't like riddles

But what? I asked pissed ”

He wants something in return he spoke falling silent after , I fell silent too confused if I should take it as a bad thing or a good thing because I didn't like owing people favours, I believed in paying it all at once

What does he want I asked knowing I'll regret it as soon as I did

I cannot tell you over the phone he said falling silent, Again with mystery! I was starting to get frustrated ”

Uncle I think if I am to accept a five hundred million from a man like Walter I deserve to know what he wants in return don't you think that makes sense I said in a non negotiable tone ”

Relax nephew you'll know everything soon enough he said calmly as if I was the one overreacting when he was the one doing it by speaking in riddles ”

Come to the mansion and you'll know everything you need to know he said before ending the call  giving me no time to refuse ”

What did he mean know everything I need to know, was there more to this

And what does a man like Walter possibly want from me? it just doesn't make any sense
