LOGINMelody’s POV
Turning off the alarm, I crawled out of bed and headed for the shower, another steamy dream leaving me wanting. Normally I was up by three; at the bakery by four thirty, prepping for the day. It felt weird to be getting up so late on a Monday. After the cold shower, I went down stairs to the kitchen. I had prepped the dough for the donuts yesterday and had put it in the fridge to slowly rise for this morning. I cut and shaped them into various sizes; classic, twisted, and filled. I saved the holes from the classic to make some bites out of them. I let them rest as I prepped the oil for frying. Once they were fried and the classic glazed while they were warm, I let the others cool off. The twists I dusted with cinnamon and sugar. The filled I put a vanilla custard in the center and topped them with leftover caramel icing from the cupcakes Saturday. After all was said and done, I had two dozen to bring with me to the pack house. Alpha Scott was a great alpha, always encouraging his pack to start a business when they could. He was one of my main customers- stopping in for coffee and breakfast almost every Monday. I knew he probably wouldn’t be there today, especially since Mike and I were due to present the mate bond separation. A mated pair could accidentally break a bond if they were not fated, and the one that they did form usually required an official break from an alpha; ensuring that no trace of it was left behind. Doing so though meant that the pair couldn’t mate again, effectively marking a divorce for werewolves and ensuring that if a fated mate were to come around the wolves could find each other. It used to be in the olden days, alphas could use this power to force a mating. Usually it was the female refusing the male, so the alpha could force the issue at hand for arranged matings. Now since the dawn of the last century, women’s rights were more recognized. Some of the older generation still frowned at the idea of women having a say; but they were few and far between. I boxed up the donuts and headed out. I would arrive just on time after cleaning up my kitchen. Arriving at the pack house on main street, I pulled into the parking lot. I could see a couple of cars there, Mike sitting in his truck, and a black Harley motorcycle. Mike got out once he saw me and started to walk over. He stopped dead in his tracks when I glared at him. Taking a second thought, he turned and headed to the pack house. I got out of my suv while grabbing the box of donuts from the passenger seat, making it to the door just as Misses Craig opened it to Mike. The old lady had been the secretary for the alphas there for the last one hundred years, though her body still looked to be in her forties. The only indication of her age was the slight graying at her temple. “Ah, Mister and Misses Swanson, please come in.” Misses Craig gestured down the hall. “Alpha Scott is in an impromptu meeting, but he is expecting you.” She led us to the doors of the office and stuck her head in. “Alpha, your ten o’clock.” A muffled reply came from within. “He’s almost finished,” she turned and said to the pair. “Here, these are for you all today.” I handed Misses Craig the boxes, who sniffed. “I’ll never understand how you younger generation enjoy this sweet stuff.” She gingerly took the boxes from me, like they were a bomb about to go off. She then hurried to the kitchen, leaving Mike and me alone outside the office. As soon as she was around the corner, the office doors were pulled open. To my surprise, Teddy from Friday was on the other side. We both froze as we saw each other, neither expecting the other. Mike broke the trance between the two of us by gesturing for him to go on ahead. Teddy slowly walked by me, and it was obvious he was checking me out. I rolled my eyes to myself, but couldn’t help taking a whiff of his scent as he walked by. I kept an eye on him as Misses Craig reappeared and ushered him to the front door. Mike went into the office first and I closed the doors behind us and joined Mike in sitting with Alpha Scott, both of them waiting on me. “Hello, Alpha.” I greeted him. “I brought donuts for you today.”We had done Nix’s ceremony last week on the full moon, making sure all of our loose ends were tied up when it came to Dominion; and as a thanks she had let me visit with my parents for a while, both of them fawning over me and exited Nix would be showing them my wedding. There was also the surprise of another pup waiting for me with them, a little girl if I was not mistaken. The little wolf pup was almost the spitting image of my father’s, her eyes a startling blue as well. I smiled to myself then, glad that Teddy hadn’t noticed the morning sickness yet, I wanted to surprise him on our honeymoon. Heather was to my left as I held out my bouquet of flowers to her as Alvin gave me away to Teddy; her little girl with shocking red hair and brown eyes, Meadow, playing with the pail of flower petals still. I smiled at Teddy as Beta Walter began to speak. “Wolfkin who are gathered, we are here in love and in life, in honor of our Goddess and her way of blessings. We honor these two now who
One year later Melody’s POV I stood at the door leading outside, Alvin at my left side. “I’m still mad at you for never telling me any of that!” I teased my uncle, poking him in the side as we waited. “Well, no one really asked me about anything here in America, so I liked being treated as a regular human being, no harm in that.” He shrugged at me. It turned out that Alvin had been a member of the SAS for the British, having been honorably discharged at a young age when a bomb shattered his leg, hence the cane. When he had joined his law firm, he had already had the clearance required for them to deal with their more ‘select’ clientele. His specialty had always been with swords, and training with wolves had given him an edge that few could surpass. He had taken down Axel’s mentor Hogarth within five minutes, making the Viking follow him around any time they were together now. The music changed outside, making me hold Alvin’s hand more tightly. “Are you re
Jude’s POV My Goddess… I was frozen on my feet as they wheeled the supposed hero of the war into the hospital wing, his scent hitting me like a freight train. When I saw his face as well, I felt the blood rush from my head and go straight to my toes, leaving me woozy and feeling ill. “Not like this…” I whispered. “Save Axel! Don’t touch me, focus on him first!” Melody yelled at the staff, using her alpha voice to get them to back off. The Doctor yelled at me again, spurring me into action and getting me out of my haze. I needed to save this wolf at all cost, not only to yell at him for never coming back for me, but to also make sure he knew he had four beautiful little girls in the world waiting for him. How the drunk I had hooked up with at the bar turned out not only to be my fated, but also that he saved our Queen was beyond me, but I could not afford to hesitate anymore. “Scalpel; clean off this area here.” The doctor gave orders for what seemed like hours, cutting
Axel’s POV That’s my boy! I was impressed with Teddy, not knowing that he could hot wire a vehicle, let alone do it in such short amount of time. It was a dick move of Dominic commanding Melody to do that as we ran, but she shouldn’t have to hold out much longer. We made it to the dock as Teddy sped off, sirens in the distance and getting closer to our location. “Keith! Stay behind and wait for Hogarth! Make sure he gets out alright.” Keith nodded at me and stayed behind, running back from the way I had come. He has pups and a wife at home, it’s not his fault he’s a brainwashed puppet just fallowing commands. But Luke, yah, he could die for all I cared. The bastard had it coming anyway. “As soon as we get on the boat, I’m making the call to clear the way!” I could see the waiting boat just at the end of the dock, making my heart skip in my chest as adrenaline started to flood me at the impending disaster. As soon as we jumped on, settling in with Hans Chambers and Luke, I
Teddy’s POV “What do we do now?!” I yelled at Axel, spitting up water. The walls of the room allowed for no traction to go back, the door being at least ten feet above us. “He said it was about halfway down to get out when he jumped through. I had to try and get rid of Hogarth though before joining them. I couldn’t very well take on that monster as well as Dominic to get Melody away!” “Then what about Alvin!! Melody will kill me if he dies, he’s her only family she has left.” “Don’t worry about the old man; he’s a legend of himself among the enforcers. Not many humans can take on two full grown wolves with only a sword as protection, his lawyer work was more of a hobby than anything; now dive!” Axel took a big gulp of air before going under the water, leaving me more confused than ever. Who the fuck was this guy and what did he do with the idiot I knew? Went through my head as I took a lung full of air and joined him in swimming down. And how the fuck is Alvin cons
I could see the moment his death became clear in his eyes, the options for them both bleak. Revenge was a good motivator though as he used his own blood to spell out ‘basement’ on the floor. I did not keep him waiting as I twisted his head to break his neck, the line that was trying to heal making it tear as I did, almost severing his head completely off. “Basement!” I yelled over the crowd, Alvin hearing me above the noise and nodding his head. We made our way as a pair, his silver armor a deadly combatant to the opposing wolves. It sizzled and smoked with each splatter of werewolf blood, making the eighty year old man the most deadly looking being to face these wolves; almost like walking death. I fought my hardest to protect any impacts or even wolves aiming for his head, Alvin already being too frail as an aging human. “This way, Uncle!” I called to him as I began to sprint, seeing drops of blood making a clear path of where they had taken off to, some of them smelling like M
