LOGINChelsea and Evan continued talking and arguing inside, but Cait no longer care to hear them. After risking her life to maintain the Creed name, all she got was an heartless husband who wouldn’t hesitate to put her life in danger if it meant his mistress safe.
She gave the pregnancy test a squeeze.
This was the last straw. She wanted to salvage her marriage before, but no more!
What about the baby? Perhaps it wasn't necessary to be born into such dysfunctional family.
She had to take care of herself if nobody gave a damn if she lived or died.
She turned away.
Then Rhea, the maid, saw her from outside. "Welcome madam.”
Cait smiled.
Rhea opened the door for her and Cait had no option but to enter.
There is no better time to discuss divorce than today.
After putting the pregnancy test in her purse, Cait entered the living room.
Evan and Chelsea’s chat ended abruptly.
Cait did not say hello to anyone for the first time. She remained silent as she stood.
She had once foolishly believed that Evan would finally notice if she looked after her in-laws and behaved like a considerate wife. But reality had given her a severe slap.
The Creeds would probably not even look at her carved heart if she presented it to them on a silver platter.
Eight years of unconditional devotion. Time to give up.
With a quick look at Rhea, Evan murmured, "Rhea, see my mother out."
Cait remained silent and stood off to the side. However, her eyes had changed; they were suddenly cold in a way they had never been.
Evan was a good leader of the Creed Group. He was also well-known for being fair to his team, nice to staff, loyal to friends, and respectful of elders. He was praised by everyone who knew him.
Cait must have saved an entire galaxy in a previous life to land someone like him, friends used to say.
But Cait never experienced Evan’s generosity. Only she was aware of the hollowness of their eight-year marriage. She no longer wanted this meaningless life.
Chelsea paused as she passed Cait.
The blame sharpened her voice. "If you can't have a son, what else are you good at?”
Cait used to be silent and accept Chelsea’s insults in the past as a sign of respect. But now? She didn't see any reason to respect someone who wouldn’t hesitate to end her life just to get what she want.
Her eyes were devoid of the typical desire to please, and she was staring directly at Chelsea. "We're both female, Chelsea. Was I created just to give birth only? If you want another heir apart from Evan so bad, why don’t you give birth instead?”
Chelsea was shocked.
In the past Cait had always been weak and easily intimidated. Cait, however, felt like a different person today.
Chelsea didn't refrain. She lifted her hand and gave Cait a firm slap on the cheek. "How dare you speak to me in that manner? Kneel down and offer an apology.”
Her expression was furious, as if she wanted to devour Cait.
Chelsea was aware of Cait’s affection for Evan. Cait would sacrifice her pride and dignity for him; she would even behave like a dog for the Creed family.
Cait, however, was tired of bowing for everyone. Her life and sacrifices had never been valued by them. Thus, she would no longer make accommodations for them.
Cait glanced at Chelsea touching her left cheek where she was slapped, her eyes growing gloomy. She just moved closer to slap Chelsea back without saying anything. However, a larger hand seized her wrist in midair before her hand could strike.
Evan’s low, irate voice growled in her ear at the same moment. "Cait, what are you trying to do?”
Cait gave him a cold look.
Her vision was flooded with Evan’s crisp, attractive features. His icy eyes pierced her like needles.
Her heart used to rush with love when she saw that face. Right now? She became ill as a result.
How could someone be that ruthless?
She was able to endure the emotional coldness, the infidelity, and the lack of affection. However, using her as a breeding machine? After nearly dying from an amniotic fluid embolism, forcing her to take a chance on another pregnancy?
Did he intend to murder her?
Her stomach turned at the thought.
She wanted to say something, but Evan roughly pushed her hand away roughly. "Don’t ever make such mistake again.”
He gently held Chelsea’s arm and made his way to the entrance.
Chelsea looked back, grinning triumphantly.
“I have my son on my side. Know your position; you're only an outsider.”
Cait would have sobbed once if Evan hadn't stood up for her. She was just numb now.
No hurt, no disappointment, nothing.
Cait yelled out as Evan arrived at the door. "Evan."
She had made up her mind. She would follow through on her decision to get a divorce. Similar to how she had fallen in love with him. She had voluntarily jumped into the mess against her family's objections.
She had loved Evan for eight years. She was worn out.He had never recognized her value. He had never attempted to establish a legitimate marriage. He had only wed her out of duty once she became pregnant.
Their union was a grave. And the only person buried alive in it was her.
She ought to have awoken long ago.
Evan paused.
Cait inhaled deeply. "I no longer want to be with you. Let's file for divorce."
She felt a rush of relief as soon as she finished speaking.
However, his phone began to ring that moment. Evan then reached for his phone and put it to his ear without saying anything to her.The other person's voice became urgent, but Cait was unable to hear it. "Okay, I'll be right there."
After hanging up, Evan walked away hurriedly with Chelsea.
When Evan’s figure vanished entirely from the doorway, Cait laughed bitterly.
So what she said wasn't that important?
With a quiet creak, the door opened, and Evan reached across to turn out the lights. The room was instantly engulfed in darkness. His voice was hollow as he undid the robe tie. "It's late. Let's do this now. I have things to do.”Evan was covered in a hazy shadow as light from the hallway filtered through the opening in the door. When Rhea heard what he had said, she froze. Her voice was almost audible as she dared not enter. "Mr. Creed... It's me."Evan hesitated. He wear back the robe, groped for the light switch and turned it back on.Perplexed, he gazed at Rhea. "Why are you here?” Rhea had perspiration on her palms. She gave a nod. "Um sir.. she..”Tension thickened the air in the room.Evan was clearly irritated, but Rhea made an effort to diffuse the situation. "Mrs. Creed isn’t around.”Evan merely answered, "okay," without going into further detail.Just as Rhea was about to say something else, Evan suddenly sat up. As she watched him swing his legs over the bed, she tightly
Winona came to see how Cait was doing after the abortion and informed her that she would require two days of rest in the hospital before being released. Abortions took a toll, so even after that, she would need to rest for weeks.Every phrase was accepted by Cait. In order to thoroughly heal, she made the decision to take a whole month off.Cait picked up her phone after Winona had departed. As anticipated, Evan didn't make a single call. However, for her? It was a button for reset. It was no longer painful to see things clearly. It was a comfort. It was preferable to getting tangled up over a careless man.Suddenly a notification popped up on her screen. The caption read: Traci Woodley just posted a video. Tap to view”Her thumb lingered over the phone screen. With a slight smile, Cait long-pressed the screen and selected "Not Interested." She should stop torturing herself. That chapter was over. She hired a caretaker to aid in her recuperation after being released from the hospital
The door of the automobile opened. After protecting Traci with his hand over the roof, Evan extended his palm to assist her.Cait turned away as soon as their fingers touched. She should have been devastated by this scene, but instead she felt remarkably at ease.Perhaps she had awakened at last. What else could be causing her chest to feel so empty and light? She used to cry till her lungs ached. All she needed now were answers. So she that had complications to give birth to Katie, was not a better mother?"Evan, what the fuck do you mean?" Cait asked. Her speech was weak and her lips quivered. With her hand on Evan’s arm, Traci emerged. Their shadows blended into a single, long, tangled figure on the pavement in the moonlight.Evan pretended not to hear Cait. His whole attention was on the woman at his side as he led Traci toward the house.Cait lost count of the number of times he disregarded her. Her heart had already been battered. However, what about Katie? She was unable to giv
Cait was still standing in the living room, stunned, when Rhea returned after bidding Evan and Chelsea farewell.Startled, Rhea called, "Mrs. Creed?"After regaining her composure, Cait went to the couch and took a seat. "Rhea, please prepare dinner for me."She had previously done everything by herself in an attempt to gain Evan’s affection. She had never given up, despite the fact that they only met a few times a month. However, Evan had never given a damn about what she did.She felt exhausted now. She missed her former self, who was pampered by her parents and brother and never did anything.Cait walked upstairs to the study to draft a divorce decree after supper. She was a pediatric surgeon, and the Hoth were wealthy. With her wealth, she would be able to provide her daughter, with a comfortable life.In the early stage of their marriage, Cait had wanted to work at Evan’s company. But Evan told her not to stress herself and just remain an housewife. Moreover he never liked the id

Cait's phone buzzed. A new message from her mother-in-law, Chelsea.{What are you waiting for? Isn't it time to get pregnant again? This family has waited long enough for an heir.}Cait sighed and dropped the phone on the bed.For months, Evan's family had been pressuring her to give birth to a boy — an heir for the family fortune — as if her five-year-old daughter didn't count. What they didn't know was that it wasn't that she didn't want another baby. She had tried. Three times.Three miscarriages. And after the third, Evan stopped touching her. Stopped coming home. And when he did, he was cold.It was two days before her ovulation. If she wanted to ease the pressure from his mother, tonight was her only chance.Hopefully, he comes home tonight.By 9:30 PM, the front door opened. Evan was back.As he went to shower, Cait put on the lingerie she had been saving. She sat on the edge of the bed, her heart pounding. She wanted to try again, yes — but more than that, she wanted to ask hi
