There was a brief moment of silence and then Tiffany chuckled from behind while Michael sighed.

"Is this your way of trying to get me back?" Michael asked indifferently, his expression remaining unfazed.

"I'm telling the truth."

"Like when you cheated?" Michael asked.

I wasn't cheating on you," Diane told him, hoping he would somehow feel the sincerity she held.

Michael folded his arms and crouched down a bit, making Diane press her back to the wall firmly, the same way he had done to her back at the office.

It was almost like he enjoyed feeling dominant in front of her and it tore her apart that despite everything, she still craved Michael desperately. She wanted him, she wanted his hands on her, in her, all over her. She wanted to feel his warm touch, his veiny arms, their sweaty bodies intertwining, his thighs rubbing against her while his moans echoed in her ears.

But no. It was like he was aware she was this in love with him. So he deprived her of them all instead.

"Haven't touched you since a month after the wedding so who are you pregnant for, Diane?" It was also the way her name rolled off his tongue, easily, masculine-y, sexily. Like she could listen to it all day.

"You. I'm pregnant for you." She replied, somehow managing to lock gazes with him this long without quivering.

The corners of his eyes wrinkled and he straightened up, a side smile on his lips, "Of course I divorce you and you become pregnant hours later, Diane.

"I'm telling you the truth -"

"Yeah and it's a miracle, isn't it?"

"Michael."

Michael laughed suddenly finding the situation amusing. "Even the Bible's Virgin woman needed a holy spirit before she could get convinced."

"Michael, we had sex," Diane argued, almost shouting her eyes off. "The night you came back drunk."

"Is this enough people for you to announce those lies to?" Michael asked gesturing to him and Tiffany at his table behind. "Or do you need a larger audience? I could hold a meeting in five."

Tiffany's shrilled laughter pierced through Diane's heart, causing her eyes to well up with tears.

She couldn't believe that not only had Michael slept with her when drunk, but he couldn't even remember doing it at all and as if there wasn't already enough lies she still had to prove her innocence for, he was additionally convinced she was lying about being pregnant as well.

"Get out of my office before I loose it on you, your presence disgusts me." He concluded before going back to Tiffany and ignoring her.

He sat on his seat, relaxing into it while she watched, "Since you are not going to give us the privacy, if you find pleasure in this too, you might as well watch us."

With that, he grabbed Tiffany's waist making her yelp in excitement. He traced his hand to her thighs and then under her mini skirt, pulling her to him and positioning her to fit on his d*ck perfectly.

They both moaned at the gesture while Tiffany stuck out a tongue at Diane.

She hurried out of the office and out of the building just as she crashed into Nathan again.

"Diane, must be my lucky day meeting you twice in less than twenty four hours. Why are you crying?"

"Can you take me to my hotel? I'll tell you everything on the way."

"Sure."

By the time they had reached outside her hotel room, she was done explaining things to Nathan.

"I mean I don't know why Michael would do that." Nathan replied, remorse clouding his face.

Diane studied his face, feeling the urge to suddenly hurt Michael and get over him. Michael had been the only guy she had looked at for almost seven years but if he was going to have sex with another woman right in front of her, then she could do the same with another man.

"I'm sorry Nathan for this and I'd probably regret it later," With that, she smashed her lips against his.

Diane sat up, naked under the sheets with Nathan sleeping, snoring softly beside her.

She had just f*ucked her husband's best friend.

She looked at the divorce papers which were sitting on the table and moved over to it, grabbing it to look at Michael's signature neatly above his name while hers stayed empty, waiting for her.

Maybe if she convinced Michael the baby was his, maybe he would want her back. Maybe she just had to show him the proof and that would do it.

She remembered the charity event that was taking place that night and decided she just needed to meet Michael, at least one last time.

Immediately, she went in, had her shower and dressed up, all while Nathan still lay on her bed. The guilt did start to creep in and she felt it suddenly over weighing her but that was not important, at least not yet.

When she was done with her hair and makeup, she grabbed the brown envelope containing the divorce papers and with one last look at Nathan, she left the room.

She went to the event place since she had asked Nathan about it earlier when they were in the car.

And just as she stepped into the richly decorated white and gold venue, the little crowd were all with their champagne glasses waiting for Michael who was on the stage to make a toast.

She clutched the envelope in her hand tightly as Tiffany came to stand beside Michael, grinning widely.

Michael took the microphone, pulling Tiffany close to himself as his eyes rested on Diane. "I take this as a beautiful moment to announce my engagement to Tiffany Lucks. Cheers."

The crowd cheered to it, some clapping while they clicked their glasses together excitedly.

Diane could swear she saw a smirk appear on Michael's lips as she turned away, the hurt aching in her chest like a ticking bomb ready to explode.

She was done with him forever. She signed the papers, dropping it on the floor of the venue as her feet carried her outside the building. Her eyes blurred from the tears and then they started to flow down her face freely.

Her feet urged her further into the busy traffic mindlessly. The lights from the different cars that illuminated the dark night together with the traffic lights, shone on her face almost blinding her.

In the next minute, she was swept off her feet. Only that now it wasn't accompanied by that wicked feeling called love, instead it was accompanied by screeching horns, light flashes, few voices in the background and a vehicle colliding with her body.

Then everything went blank.

Diane opened her eyes, blinking lazily as the early morning sun crept into her bedroom through the blinds. She yawned, stretching both arms over her head as she lengthened her body. She reached for her phone on the nightstand and checked the time to see it was just a few minutes past seven. There was already a text from Ryan, and she tapped on it, clicking the link he had sent her. It led her to the morning article with the bold headline, 'DEVERAUX HEIRESS DELIVERS AN AWESOME SPEECH DESPITE NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE.'She laughed a bit, seeing it. Her speech last night did go well. After the accident, Lea and Nathan had helped calm her down, and she had stepped up and given the speech even without the brief that had mysteriously disappeared. The crowd had applauded her, especially after she had spoken on the Blue Haven project. And by the time the speeches were over and the partying had started, her partners for the Blue Haven project had come to assure her that the deal was practical

Diane's body trembled with fright, and her heart pounded in her ears, almost deafening her. From nowhere, she heard screeching cars jamming in the traffic and the horns going off, blasting in her ears. The harsh light from the vehicles shone on her face, and she shut her eyes, wanting to make it go away. She heard voices screaming and asking if she was okay, and a tear travelled down her cheek as she pressed her lips together. Her eyes were still tightly shut, and her hands had travelled up to cover her ears as the loud crash happened. Diane?" Michael called out to her, cutting through the chaos."Diane," He shook her softly. "Snap out of it, you are okay. I'm here."Diane's body jerked up in shock, and her eyes flew open. The first thing she saw was Michael. His hand was cradling the back of her head, and his arm was wrapped protectively around her.She blinked rapidly and looked around. She saw that she was in a dimly lit corner with Michael, while the broken LED fixture lay on the

"And set. You're all good to go. You look so beautiful, Diane. You're going to kill everyone with your glamour this night." Lea clapped, grinning as she inspected Diane's dress. They were in Diane's room, with Diane seated in front of the dresser while Lea stood behind her, helping her get ready for the night. Diane studied her reflection, "You don't think it looks so... I don't know, too dressy to wear while giving my speech tonight?" "When has being too dressy ever been a crime?" Lea asked, shrugging. "You look fine, trust me. And smile!" She added, her phone's flashlight going off multiple times as she circled Diane, taking photos of her dress. "For the gram, babes."Diane nodded, "Well, if you say so. What-"Lea's phone suddenly rang, and she put a finger up at Diane, bringing her phone to her ear, "Yes, Daddy, I told you I was done dressing up." Then she pointed to her phone and mouthed to Diane that she'd meet her later. Then she hurried out. Diane chuckled, turning back at

  • Billionaire King's Heiress    36- Warming up

Diane dropped into the bed in her room the moment Ryan left after keeping her luggage. She stretched out her hands on the soft bedding. She had changed from the villa to another place called Montclair. Montclair was like a large compound or private estate, segregated from the rest of the villa and consisting of just four blocks. Diane had learnt that Montclair was off limits and reserved exclusively for the hosts. And since Deveraux was co-hosting, it meant she was allowed to stay there as well. Which was good because she did actually need the peace and quiet. And at least now, she was going to be away from Michael and avoid having to see him for as long as possible. Her phone buzzed, and Nathan's text popped up on her screen. Nathan: Are you all settled down now, baby?"Diane:Yeah, I just got in. Nathan: Glad to hear that. Another meeting just came up. Something unexpected happened. But I'll be sure to see you tonight, and I'll tell you all about it. I'm sorry."Diane:Haha.

  • Billionaire King's Heiress    35- We are not together

Diane watched his face, searching for any sign of whether he was being serious. But then again, Michael wasn't one to bluff. So he was, actually serious. But the reason why he was giving it to her did leave her skeptical "You had your little research done on me and discovered that I was going to acquire Crown and Bell's." Diane started. "Then you went ahead and bought it just to be petty. You proceeded to rub it in my face. And now you want me to have it?" Michael was silent for a while. He knew she was right, and he almost didn't have anything to counter what she had just said. He tapped his fingers on the expensive leather of his car's backseat and pressed his lips together. " That was wrong of me. And I genuinely want you to have it. It's my first apology gift to you."Dianes eyes travelled down to the documents again as he dropped it on the space between them. "Apology gift?" "Yes," He replied. "For what exactly?" She asked. Was it from buying Crown and Bell's? For calling h

Michael stared at Diane, watching the way her pretty lips pouted in a little frown and the way the gentle breeze blew strands of hair to her face. For a brief moment, he had the urge to reach out, cup her tiny face in his hands and push the strands away. He curled his hands in his pockets, rubbing his thumb against his palm as memories rushed in. It made him reminisce about the way her face used to feel in his palm, soft and warm and how previously he used to hold her then. Now she looked at him like he was the last person she wanted to be standing in front of her at the moment. But she was cute. Cute to do something like that to him. How exactly had she thought she could get him off the list? He didn't even fancy the Fest to begin with, so the only reason he was even here was because of her. Even though she didn't want to see him. He watched as her eyes ran him a look and she looked away, not bothering to answer him. Almost like he didn't deserve an answer for the
