Diane's head throbbed. Badly. The pain felt like there was a drill boring holes into different parts of her head impatiently and making her want to cut her head off.

She blinked a bit, scrunching up her face and groaning, a poor attempt to make the pain go away. She had no idea why she was feeling this intense pain and why everything including her head felt heavy.

"Is she waking up?" A male voice asked in the distant background. She couldn't recognize the voice and she didn't try to either.

"I think so," A female replied this time around.

Diane pushed further, attempting to open her eyes. As she did so, the rays of light from around the room rushed into her eyes forcing her to shut them immediately.

She groaned as she went for a second attempt, this time a bit slower. She was successful as she opened it this time around and was met with a white ceiling and surrounding white wall.

She looked around, studying her surroundings and trying to make out where she was when a stand of drip appeared at her peripheral view.

Then a head popped up in front of her, "Mrs Diane? Can you hear me?"

Diane blinked as she made out the face which spoke to her. Then she nodded, slowly.

"You were in an accident and you've been unconscious for the past twenty seven hours." The lady said.

Diane grunted as she made to stand up but the lady stopped her, "You're in no condition to stand up now. Your head must be aching and you must feel heavy and tired."

Diane obeyed, going back to her position.

The lady turned to someone in the background which Diane supposed to be the owner of the male voice which had just spoken, "You can proceed to make the payments now. She is going to continue to recover quickly from now on,"

Then the lady turned back to her, "I'll give you some pain relief, and you should get back to sleep, rest as much as you can. You need it."

Just then a thought crossed Diane's mind and she grabbed the lady's hand, "I-I'm pregnant. Right now." Diane told her, her voice almost inaudible.

"I'm sorry," The lady said as her eyes softened, "But you lost it. I'm sorry Ma'am, but you were bleeding profusely when you were brought in and we could not save it."

Diane shut her eyes, and the hotness she felt told her the tears were coming back yet again.

But soon, she was fast asleep.

She woke up the next day, the headache had dulled and she was indeed feeling a bit better than the previous day. She sat up now and took a huge breath, balancing the pillow at her back for a better posture.

The hospital room was big, bigger than the regular ones which told her that she was in a vip section and lead her to be curious about whom had saved her and brought her in.

Her memories came flooding back afresh, from everything that had happened days ago to the minute she was rushing out of the event venue. The hurt she had previously felt was slowly turning into a mix of anger and resent,

Just then the room door opened and an older elegant woman walked in, two escorts following her behind.

"Oh gracious me, you poor innocent thing," The woman exclaimed as she drew her into a hug. Diane sat confused at the gesture and just watched as the woman pulled away from the hug and studied her.

The woman was dressed in an expensive blazer with straight legged pants and her heels clicked the tiles noisily with each step she took. She had a slender figure, long honey colored hair and her bright red lipstick made her face features pop out.

"I'm sorry, this happened to you my darling, it's all my fault." The woman apologized.

"Y-you hit me?" Diane asked, trying to satisfy her curiosity.

"Oh no darling, the driver who did already paid compensation. Don't worry it's all sorted out."

Diane shook her head, "I don't understand. Who're you?"

The woman settled beside her, her worried face softening, "I'm sorry, I'm only coming now. Your dad and I had searched for you everywhere since you were kidnapped. I'm glad I found you."

Diane's eyebrow furrowed together, "What?"

"I'm your mother, Stella Deveraux. We've looked for you all these years, I apologize on behalf of your father for not being able to make it here." The woman replied.

Diane laughed. A bit too loudly that the escorts looked at her crazy and shifted uncomfortably in their feet. Stella didn't return the laughter and instead stared at Diane.

Diane paused,"Oh you're serious,"

Stella went ahead to explain the whole situation to Diane and soon enough, Diane felt like she was in some kind of fairytale where somehow luck had favored her and she had gotten her own fairy god mother.

She thought about everything Michael had done to her and the scene of him with Tiffany replaying in her head constantly. Her mind went to Nathan suddenly remembering she had used the poor man as a way to get over her husband and had left him on her bed then snuck out.

"You're not lying to me now, are you?" Diane asked Stella.

Stella reached out to her with an envelope.

But god was she starting to be triggered by envelopes now.

"Here, I am not making up stories, my love."

Diane took it reluctantly and went through it, confirming everything Stella had said.

How was she even a Deveraux? How did she end up with her dad then?

But one thing she was sure about was that she was leaving her old life behind. Because now, she wasn't going to be a Winters any longer, she was going to be a Deveraux.

And the only thing she wanted was power and revenge.

She was going to make Michael Belmont suffer however she could.

"Diane, honey, Lea's here to see you," Stella said as she walked into Diane's room. She stopped as she saw Diane still in bed, curled under her sheets, fast asleep. "Diane?" Diane opened her eyes lazily, rubbing the sleep out of them as she adjusted her body under the sheets. "Hey Mum." "Did you forget we were having dinner with Nathan tonight?" She asked, standing at the edge of Diane's bed. "Lea came unexpectedly, so she is joining us too." "Oh, Nathan. I forgot to set an alarm." Diane said, then yawned. Stella shook her head, placing her arms on her hips. "How do you forget something this important? You even stayed home from work today." She finally sat up and stretched, throwing her arms above her head in the air. "I'll start getting prepared now." "Hey Dii!" Lea called out as she walked into her room. Stella and Diane looked up as Lea beamed when she saw Diane. "Oh, good, Lea, you're here. Hurry her up. I'll go check on the kitchen and dinner preparations."

"Don't you think we should meet up more often, baby? I feel like I barely get to see you these days." Nathan whined, placing a kiss on Diane's shoulder as he hugged her from behind. They were in Nathan's penthouse, where he occasionally came either for work purposes or to spend time with her. They were half naked, wine glasses in their hands as they stared down at the heavy traffic from the full-length glass window. The faint scent of the candles that burned by the nightstand filled the air, giving the room a soft warmth that slapped against their skins. "You know how busy work gets from time to time," Diane replied. "Especially now that we're on the Blue Haven project."Nathan slipped a hand across her neck and pulled her into him, burying his head in the small of her neck and inhaling her scent. "I know, baby, I just really miss you.""I miss you too," Diane replied. His hand slipped into her lingerie bra, and he cupped her breast and squeezed it gently, which made her giggle."C'

Diane looked at Michael, studying his face for a while. Slowly, her lips spread out in a smile first before a low laugh followed. This was because, of course, she knew he was being serious. But being serious didn't stop her from being taken aback by his audacity. "Break up with Nathan?" Diane asked, bringing up her hand to cover her mouth as she cleared her throat. "Mr Belmont, when will you ever stop surprising me?""You don't belong with him, Diane," Michael told her. His eyes remained fixated on hers unapologetically, as if him asking her to leave Nathan was the most reasonable request he had ever made. "He does not deserve you.""And you do?" She retorted. "Oh please. Don't be ridiculous."Michael's lip twitched at her response. "I am not saying I do, Diane. I am saying that there's a slim chance you still feel something for me, even though you are trying so hard to bury it."Diane rolled her eyes. "Just, think about it," Michael told her. "About giving us a second chance.""The

Seeing it was only Estelle, Diane settled back into her seat with a scoff. "You showed up here.""I'm sorry, Ma'am, we tried to stop her." Ryan apologised while her secretary nodded in agreement. "No, it's fine, don't worry about it," Diane replied, dismissing them with a hand wave. "Must have been something important if she had to sneak or fight her way through security just to see me."Estelle rolled her eyes at the statement and folded her arms while Ryan and her secretary left, closing the door gently. "What's the problem now?" Diane asked, turning her attention to the files on her table. "What do you mean, what's the problem, you b*tch!" Estelle snapped immediately. Diane sighed, "Language, Estelle. Here isn't Father's house."Estelle moved closer to the table, irritation beginning to mount up as she saw Diane was giving her almost no attention. Her eyes rested on the papers Diane was looking through, and in a second, she grabbed them and flung them across the room. "Don't y

Diane smiled as she leaned against the elevator wall, folding her arms and closing her eyes. She hummed a song in a low tone, swinging her head from side to side while tapping her foot gently against the floor. It was just the two of them in the elevator. And Ryan stole glances at her from time to time, nibbling on his lower lip to try and shake off the subtle anxiety creeping through him. He was beginning to wonder if she had some new revenge plans up her sleeve, if she was planning something threatening or if she was just simply happy. With Diane, he could never tell. He could only hope whatever she had in mind to do was still on the safe side. Because if there was one thing his boss was exceptionally good at, it was keeping him on his toes. She stopped humming immediately and turned to him, grinning from ear to ear, which made him swallow hard. He cleared his throat awkwardly and looked away, avoiding her gaze. "Ryan.""Y-yes Ma'am." He replied, tightening his grip on the bag

Lea took a mouthful of her citrus-flavoured water, panting heavily. "Bruh, Pilates is killing me." Diane settled down beside her, panting also, as beads of sweat trailed down the side of her face. "Tell me about it."They watched as the women from the Pilates class divided into their usual little groups, chatting away with the fake smiles plastered on their faces. "But why did you come back from Fest already? The Fest isn't over until tomorrow morning." Diane asked, focusing her attention on Lea, who looked like she was going to pass out at any moment. Lea shut her eyes for a moment and lay on the floor, taking calculated deep breaths. "I was... I was bored out of my mind after you left."Diane laughed. "What happened to your fans? And all the pictures you spammed online?" "Those are just for show." She replied, clicking her tongue. Diane shook her head. "I can never understand you."There was silence between them as Diane's eyes wandered towards the other women at a distance. On

There was a brief moment of silence and then Tiffany chuckled from behind while Michael sighed. "Is this your way of trying to get me back?" Michael asked indifferently, his expression remaining unfazed. "I'm telling the truth." "Like when you cheated?" Michael asked. I wasn't cheating on you
