Diane spunned around, cleaning off her tears with her cloth fabric, to see Nathan surprisingly.

Nathan was Michael's best friend whom she had only seen on countable occasions which were the few times in college, on their wedding day and the first time she had started working in Michael's company.

"It's you, Diane." He said as he stepped closer to her, smiling.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"Oh.. I was in the city. I was going to attend the Belmont's charity event tomorrow night. And somehow I found myself here and saw you. Said I would confirm if it was really you. Yunno,"

Diane nodded, "That's nice."

Nathan's eyes studied her stuff and his cocked an eyebrow up, "Everything good with you?"

"Yeah," She lied, clearing her throat. "I uh- I'll just get going now. It was nice to see you again."

Without looking back, she grabbed a bit of her stuff and flagged down a cab, running away from the embarrassment she felt.

She was now in her hotel room, the first night away from Michael and being on her own. The hotel room was nothing like the ones she used to stay in before Michael had cut her off financially. This was one of the mid ones with nothing special, only a ceiling fan, a desk and chair at a corner and a bed. She had always wondered how people stayed in this sort of place. And right now, she was experiencing it first hand, staring at the ceiling in lost thoughts.

Immediately, the inside of her cheeks got salty and she bolted to the bathroom, knowing what was coming next for her. She bent over the toilet and in the next second, her brunch was coming up her throat, out her mouth and into the toilet.

She felt weak and lots of thoughts started to cross her mind. She wondered if she was sick? Maybe she had gotten the flu from someone at work unknowingly or better still maybe she had eaten something bad.

But there was also a fourth thought that crossed her mind. One she didn't want to think of or put among the top list.

There was no way she could be. She thought to herself again, as she cleaned herself up and flushed the toilet. She was certain. Very certain. Michael hadn't touched her since a month after they had gotten married. He hadn't.

Well... except for the one night, exactly three weeks ago when he had come home drunk, made love to her consensually after telling her how much he loved her and had asked her why she wasn't the perfect wife. He had released inside her and had gotten off before the pleasure even pent up for her, and he had left her naked and hurt on their matrimonial bed.

She dragged herself to her stuff which were still sitting at the edge of the room and findled amongst it for a pregnancy kit which she always kept.

She took the test and started to wait impatiently, boring her eyes at the strip and tapping her nails impatiently on the sink.

Time seemed to travel slowly and she took deep breaths, clasping her hands together and letting the anxiety almost swallow her whole.

As soon as the time was up, she took a deep breath and prepared herself mentally before picking up the kit.

She didn't know what to think or how to feel about whatever results she was going to get, but one thing she was sure of, was that she wasn't prepared, come what may.

The vibrant double red lines stared back at her and she held her breath as her heart skipped a beat.

She was pregnant.

* *

It was the next morning, the sun woke her up through the hotel's blinds and she sat up, feeling like a train had just ran over her. She had decided to tell Michael that she was pregnant. He deserved to know. He was the father.

She dressed up, took a cab and made her way to the Belmont headquarters and to Michael's office.

As she stood at the hallways outside his office, preparing herself to face him, her hands fidgeting on the door knob and her heart pounding in her chest, she could hear a little noise coming from inside the room. It sounded like grunts and quiet moans.

Without thinking, she abruptly twisted the door knob and opened the door, then walked inside Michael's office room.

The sight she saw before her was Michael having his head thrown backwards, with his eyes shut and his right hand down his thighs.

Immediately he heard her come in, he opened his eyes. And as soon as his gaze fell upon her face, his expression switched from pleasure to irritation.

From inbetween his legs, Tiffany straightened up, wiping her mouth clean, smudging her lipstick and pulling her shirt over her shoulders.

"What's up, Mikey?" Tiffany asked, then turned around to see Diane standing in the office room, tears in her eyes. "Oh great, way to ruin a fun time." Tiffany commented with an eye roll.

Diane's gaze switched from Tiffany who had her chest still exposed, giving a clear view of her large breasts to Michael who sat indifferently, his expression growing to become angry.

"What are you doing here?" Michael thundered.

"Did you frame me up and act all those drama for this?" Diane asked.

"Don't be ridiculous, Diane. I made myself clear that I did not want to see you again." Michael replied coldly.

"How could you Michael? How could you?!"

"Oh of course the drama queen came with a bit more drama today," Tiffany replied slyly, pulling down her underwear and dropping it slowly and seductively on Michael's office table.

Michael walked to where she was, his shirt still a bit roughed up from the moment him and Tiffany had shared. She could almost not bear to look at him.

"I'm pregnant, Michael." She told him.

Michael stared at Diane, watching the way her pretty lips pouted in a little frown and the way the gentle breeze blew strands of hair to her face. For a brief moment, he had the urge to reach out, cup her tiny face in his hands and push the strands away. He curled his hands in his pockets, rubbing his thumb against his palm as memories rushed in. It made him reminisce about the way her face used to feel in his palm, soft and warm and how previously he used to hold her then. Now she looked at him like he was the last person she wanted to be standing in front of her at the moment. But she was cute. Cute to do something like that to him. How exactly had she thought she could get him off the list? He didn't even fancy the Fest to begin with, so the only reason he was even here was because of her. Even though she didn't want to see him. He watched as her eyes ran him a look and she looked away, not bothering to answer him. Almost like he didn't deserve an answer for the

  • Billionaire King's Heiress    33- Bad luck?

The car suddenly halted with a large grating noise, throwing both Diane and Ryan forward in their seats. Diane's phone almost slipped from her hands while her seatbelt stopped her in place. She looked from her phone, where she had been halfway replying to Nathan, to Ryan, who seemed as confused as she was, as he adjusted his seatbelt as well. His hand fumbled with the keys at the ignition, trying to get the car to start again. The car gave a weak sputtering sound, then stopped halfway showing it wasn't ready to power up. And after Ryan tried two more times, the same thing happened. "What is wrong with the car?" She asked. Before Ryan could answer, a cloud of smoke began creeping out of the hood. "Oh c'mon now," Ryan muttered, getting out of the car with Diane following suit. Ryan lifted the hood, and more of the smoke clouded the air, making both of them cough and step away while the smoke dispersed. This morning had been great. Diane had woken up hale and hearty wi

  • Billionaire King's Heiress    32- Bold decisions

Michael sat at his table in his office, a tab open in front of him. His eyes moved between the two jewellery designs that were displayed on the screen. His eyebrows furrowed together as he carefully studied which one of them would suit Diane better and what she would prefer. If he remembered correctly, which of course he did, Diane loved jewellery. Necklaces most especially. The kind that gave off a soft, luxurious vibe, to be precise. And she loved to collect them. His thoughts lingered back at the way she looked at him when he had crashed her date left an uneasy feeling in his chest as it tightened up. Especially when she confirmed she had been in an accident. And that their baby had died. His past actions haunted him, like a dark cloud taking over his little summer life, and he sighed heavily, massaging his temple with his fingers like he was trying to soothe the thoughts out. How did he come to make such a mistake? Hurting the one woman he had loved? And now she was hanging

Diane and Lea looked up to see Estelle. She was dressed in ripped Jean shorts and a loose shirt tucked in. She had her hair up in a bun and the nastiest look on her face, which was impossible to miss.Diane hadn't seen Estelle ever since Estelle had dragged her by her hair and thrown her out. She had heard almost nothing about her late father's company. But out of the bits and pieces she had, none were actually something positive. Which told her that Estelle and her step mum were really struggling with the company as well."Hello, Estelle," Diane replied, her tone flat and her face expressionless. Beside her, Lea glanced from her to Estelle and back to her, wondering who Estelle was. And trying to figure out the whole thing. Estelle gave a smile, "Someone isn't happy to see her step-sister, I see."Lea gasped, "She's your step-sister?" She asked Diane in a fake low whisper."Oh, Diane here didn't tell you?" Estelle asked, then put out a hand to Lea. "I'm Estelle Winters. Nice to me

  • Billionaire King's Heiress    30- Pilates

It was Sunday morning, and Diane woke up, feeling Nathan's arm curled around her from behind. She could feel him breathing gently on her neck, which made her realise he was still asleep. After Michael had crashed their date the day before, they had ended up just eating and leaving the lounge early. Then Nathan had suggested them going to the bar, which they did. And the rest was history. The history being waking up naked in his bed. She sighed, taking his arm off and getting up quietly from the bed. "Leaving me again?" Nathan asked with his groggy voice as he stared at her lazily while she dressed up. "I didn't know you were awake. Was trying to let you sleep longer." "Okay, so you wanted to leave before I woke up, that is?" He asked. Diane pursed her lips at him, "You know that's not what I mean."Nathan gave a low laugh, "I'm teasing you.""I've got a few appointments today," She continued, pulling her dress over her head. "I've got Pilates classes at eight thirty. And then s

"What?" Diane asked back. "Unless you want to entertain everyone in here, we can just have our talk somewhere more..." He stopped to glance at Nathan before continuing. "Private.""Mr Belmo-" "Diane it's fine," Nathan said, standing up. "You know he's stubborn and won't stop. Give him five minutes alone. And we can enjoy the rest of the afternoon to ourselves."I wasn't asking for your permission." Michael snapped at Nathan for the second time, his eyes never leaving Diane. Nathan's presence annoyed him. He wondered who Nathan thought he was, to come between them and throw his talk into their conversation when he wanted. True, he hadn't seen Nathan since the night of the charity event, which was the day they had started to grow apart. And the feeling of seeing him now wasn't different from that night when he had walked out on him. Diane pulled her hand away from Michael, eyeing him. Then looked to Nathan, who gave her a reassuring nod, telling her it was okay to go. Then she snatc
