The Divorce

The doctor handed Serena Archer the pregnancy result with a warm smile. "Congratulations Mrs Archer. You are six weeks pregnant," he said, his voice filled with genuine happiness. Tears of joy prickled down Serena's eyes as she took the result in her hands. She had been eagerly waiting for this news for a while, and it finally came at last.

"Thank you, doctor. I will take my leave now," Serena said, still feeling a little dazed. She left the doctor's office, feeling a sense of elation that she had never experienced before. Serena couldn't wait to share the news with Rick, her beloved husband. A baby in their lives would make their love even stronger, and she was thrilled to start this new journey together.

Serena hailed a yellow cab and instructed the driver to take her to the Archer Mansion. As she settled into the back seat, she closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh. Her mind wandered to the thought of Rick's face lighting up when he learns that he is going to be a father. The mere thought brought an enormous smile to her face, and she could feel the warmth of happiness spreading through her body. The driver looked at her through the rearview mirror, trying to figure out the reason behind her beaming smile..

The Archers Mansion.

As Serena stepped inside the grand Archers Mansion, she was met with a sudden, brutal slap across her face. The forceful slap landed across Serena's face, causing crimson droplets to spray from her mouth. Rick's elder sister, Madison, stood before her with a cold, unyielding expression.

Madison, Rick's elder sister, confronted Serena with a cold and hostile expression, "Where have you been, bitch?" Serena was speechless, and tears began to prick her eyes. She couldn't comprehend why Madison was treating her this way, and she was too afraid to ask, fearing what could happen next. Serena was left to wonder what she did to deserve such a harsh and unexpected confrontation. Madison's eyes flickered to the white envelope that Serena clutched in her hand. "What's that you're holding?" Madison's eyebrow arched with curiosity. Serena tried to conceal the pregnancy test result, but Madison's quick reflexes allowed her to snatch it away before she could react.

Madison's laughter was uncontrollable, but it soon subsided. She held up the envelope and asked, "Were you planning on showing this to my brother?" Madison looked incredulous as she continued, "And even if you do, do you really think he'll be overjoyed with the result?" The sarcasm in her voice was palpable.

"Rick doesn't love you. So you should get rid of the child." Madison tried to tear the paper away, Serena snatched the paper back and crumpled it in her hand. "My pregnancy is none of your business," she said, her voice shaking. "Rick is my husband and he loves me so much. That's what I'm sure of." She stormed off to her room, her heart pounding with hurt.

Serena refused to let Madison's words dampen her spirits. She took it upon herself to create a romantic atmosphere in their room for a dinner date. She meticulously decorated the table with vibrant roses and appetizing delicacies, making sure every detail was perfect. After taking a relaxing bath, Serena slipped into a stunning white short gown that accentuated her stunning curves and applied a touch of makeup. She eagerly awaited Rick's return, excited to share the news of her pregnancy in the intimate and enchanting setting she had created.

As Serena waited eagerly in the Archer's mansion, she caught sight of Rick's car pulling up. Her heart raced with anticipation as she imagined his strong arms wrapped around her. As soon as he entered the room, she rushed towards him and wrapped him in a tight embrace, pouring out all the love she had been holding onto for so long. The hug was so intense that it felt like she was trying to transfer all her emotions to him in that one moment.

Rick's eyes roamed around the dimly lit room, which was adorned with lovely romantic decorations that Serena had meticulously put together. He couldn't help but wonder what special occasion had prompted her to go to such great lengths. However, he quickly pushed those thoughts aside as his mind reminded him of the important matter he had to discuss with Serena.

Rick's words hit Serena like a ton of bricks as he uttered them in a firm voice, "Let's get a divorce." She was taken aback and couldn't believe what she had just heard. Her mind raced, trying to make sense of the situation, and she wondered if her ears were playing tricks on her. She slowly broke away from their embrace and locked eyes with Rick, searching for any hint of a joke or teasing, but his face remained serious and resolute.

"What did you say again? It seems I misheard you," she asked, hoping that she had misunderstood.

"I want a divorce," Rick repeated in a heartless voice. Serena's heart sank, and she couldn't believe what she was hearing. She let out a short, nervous laugh, hoping that this was all just a cruel joke.

"Come on, Rick. This isn't the time for jokes. I have something important I need to tell you," she said, trying to maintain her composure and hoping that he would change his mind.

Rick didn't respond and instead handed her a document. Serena opened it, and her worst fears were confirmed - it was a divorce letter with Rick's signature already imprinted on it. The file fell from her hand, and she felt her world shatter into a million pieces.

Serena's voice faltered as she asked, "Why? Am I not a good..." Her words trailed off as she struggled to continue. "If I did something wrong, then please tell me. I'm willing to do anything to make it right."

However, before she could finish, Rick interrupted her with a cold tone, "Gina is back."

"Gina? Your ex?" Serena asked in surprise.

"Yes," he replied curtly. "Gina is back, and I want to be with her."

Serena felt a sudden pang of disbelief and sadness. She couldn't believe that he wanted to be with the woman who had abandoned him without a second thought in pursuit of her own career. It was hard for her to comprehend why he would choose someone who had hurt him so deeply in the past.

"You're really willing to throw away everything we've built in the past three years just to be with your ex? Are you going to throw away all the love, support, and memories we've shared together?" Serena's voice was thick with emotion as she yelled in frustration at Rick. "I thought you loved me and that we had something real. I don't understand why you would even consider going back to Gina." Her eyes searched his face desperately for some sign of understanding or remorse, but all she found was a blank expression.

Serena's heart plummeted as she absorbed the words from her husband. "I never loved you, not even today. For me, you were just a tool to forget Gina but it didn't work." The admission was like a knife twisting in her chest, but she refused to give up on their marriage. "I know you love me," she pleaded, "but you are just too blind to realize it. What about our lovemaking, the romantic dates, the warm cuddles at night, the thoughtful gifts you always gave me? What would you call that if it isn't love?" She searched for any glimmer of hope in his eyes, desperate for any sign that he still cared.

"I have to be honest with you. Our intimacy didn't mean much to me. I was just performing my marital duties as your husband. And as for the gifts and dates, it was just my way of showing appreciation for your support."

"I am confused. Can you please explain what you mean by the thank you gifts?"

"To be frank, I had planned to divorce you about a month after our wedding. However, things changed when we attended Mr. Stanford's dinner party, and he took a liking to you. Seeing how you impressed him, he invested in my company, which I had been trying to convince him to do for a year . I saw you as my lucky charm, but now that Gina is back, and Mr. Stanford is impressed with my company, I don't need you in my life anymore." The revelation hit serena hard, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of being used . However serena was also pregnant , and she wasn't ready to give up on her marriage just yet. She knew she had to find a way to make it work , not just for her but for the baby growing inside her .

Serena hesitated for a moment before asking the question that had been weighing heavily on her mind. "What if I'm pregnant? Would you still proceed with the divorce?" The silence in the room was thick and palpable, and her heart began to race as she waited for Rick's response. She looked at him expectantly, hoping against hope that he might have a change of heart.

However, Rick's face remained cold and expressionless as he spoke. "I love Gina and I'm committed to building a life with her. I'll do whatever it takes to remove any obstacles from our path, even if that means getting rid of the child in your womb, assuming there is one." The words hit Serena like a ton of bricks, leaving her feeling hurt, angry, and scared all at once. She couldn't believe that Rick was willing to go to such length just to be with his ex again.

Serena's body quivered with a mixture of emotions as she slowly sunk into the plush armchair. Her legs felt as though they were made of jelly and could barely support her weight. The tears that had been threatening to spill over finally won the battle and streamed down her cheeks like a never-ending river. Rick stood in front of her, his face as cold as ice as he placed the legal papers on her lap. "Sign the divorce papers and leave the mansion. Gina will arrive in two days and will not be pleased to find you here." With that, he stormed out of the room, leaving Serena alone with her thoughts and her shattered heart.

Her voice was barely audible, choked by her sobs. "Please reconsider your decision. I have sacrificed so much to be with you."
