Desjardins Residence ...

"Why didn't you guys call me earlier !" Ethan yelled in fury as he stepped out of the car and took long fast strides into the house.

"We tried to but your number wasn't going through "Ma Helen , An elderly woman who attended to him and his sister ever since they were little said , as she followed him in.

"That's not it ma, these people are a bunch of incompetent fools " he said angrily as he took the stairs and began sprinting upwards.

"Calm down Ethan !" She said calmly not being able to keep up his pace anymore.

"Calm down ?!" 

"When my sister's life is on the line , no way !!" He said before disappearing into the passage.

Ma Helen just sighed deeply as she slowly went up the staircase also.

Immediately Ethan got to Emma's room , he opened the door quickly and barged in.

"She's fine now !" The doctor said immediately as he jumped in fright by the side of the bed where he was seated and stood up immediately.

Ethan paused in his tracks immediately as he let go of the door and slowly walked in.

"What's going on here ?!" He asked softly.

"Your job as a doctor is to sit by my sister's bed?! " he asked as he slowly walked towards them.

"You talk as if we're not Best friends" Jasper said as he turned to face him.

"We're friends, yes , but my sister's health is more important, " he said.

"And I said she's fine now , it was just an asthma attack , she's better now " he replied.

"It was just ?!"

"Jasper , you think the attack was just ?!!" He said as he walked even more closer to them.

"What triggered it ?!" Ethan asked.

"Dust, " he replied.

"How dust ?!" He asked.

"I was trying to arrange some of my stuff that looked dirty , so I decided to do it," Emma replied quietly.

"You were trying to ?!" He said

"How many times have I told you Emma , you have many maids here at your beck and call to do these things for you !"

"Yet , you still decide to do it yourself knowing how your health is !"

"Are you doing this on purpose?! Did I offend you!!" He scolded.

"You don't have to yell at her !" Jasper said immediately and he turned to him immediately , the glare he passed him was enough to make Jasper stay out of their conversation immediately.

"I'm sorry , I'm just used to cleaning after myself already, " she said.

"Oh you're used to suffering you mean !" He snapped angrily.

"Jasper !!" Ma Helen yelled immediately as she walked in.

"Why would you say that to your sister !" She added as she walked in and slammed the door.

"I should leave now " 

"I'll see you when you feel better, " Jasper said as he walked out of the room.

Ethan slowly raised his hands to his forehead as he rubbed it slowly.

"Apologize to her immediately!" She said,

"I'm sorry, " he whispered.

"You have to learn that Emma isn't your younger sister , she's your twin and you need to talk to her with respect!" She said,

"Just the same way she'd accord you respect!" She added.

"I didn't mean to yell , I was just worried for her !" 

"I'm trying to watch out for her, " he said.

"And you can do that with kind words, " She replied.

"Not everybody is like you Jasper and not everybody will behave like you "

"You have to learn to tolerate and accept people for who they are !" She said and he nodded.

"Noted !" He replied.

"Good , now settle this immediately so it mustn't blow out of proportion!" She said as she walked out back.

Asides Emma , Ma Helen was another person who could talk or even come close to Ethan.

When their mother died after giving birth to them , she was the nurse who took care of them when their father didn't show up to claim them.

She took it upon herself to look for their family members, when she found them she handed them over to their mothers family.

But she didn't stop there , she took out time to visit at least two times a month from when they were babies to toddlers and children .

It was then she noticed how they were being treated by their family members, and how they were being passed around and how malnourished they were growing up to be.

She fought for their custody and she won , and gradually they became what they were today.

"I'm sorry Emma " Ethan said as he took his seat beside her bed .

"It's alright " she whispered.

"I understand the kind of person you are , it's fine, " she said.

"Are you sure?!" He asked quietly.

"I was just really frustrated , I had a rough morning"

"I shouldn't have taken it out on you" he said and she nodded slowly.

"What happened today ?!" She asked.

"Someone ... " He started but paused immediately as he thought about it quickly.

If he tells Emma about this strange lady that he talked to today , she wouldn't let him rest until he takes the baby and caters fully for her and he's never going to do that .

He knew for sure that Emma was going to bug him until he did it , so he just decided to keep his mouth shut.

"You know what , it's nothing, " he replied.

"It's just work stuff , it's all settled now " he said

"We work together you know , you can as well stop hiding " she said and he smiled.

"I'm not hiding anything but seriously it was just minute stuff and it has been taken care of " he said and she sighed.

"If you say so, " she replied.

"So you like him " 

"Or is it a mutual feeling " Ethan said and she looked up at him.

"Him , who ?! , What are you talking about, I have no Idea " she replied.

"You know who !" He replied and she turned away from him

"So you like him, " he added, nodding slowly.

"Why will you go around liking my Best friend " 

"Are men finished on this earth ?!" He said.

"Why can't I be with Jasper " she replied

"Because he's my best friend, of course I won't let my best friend date my sister " he said and she rolled her eyes.

"Okay " she replied.

"I have no idea what that okay means , but if I ever see him near you doing funny things ,"

"Personally I'll cut his legs off " he said as he gently stood up from his seat and she shook her head.

"I need to get to work, " he said as he headed for the door.

"You'll be fine !" She called out after him before he walked outside and slammed the door shut.
